it bracks my hart to see my iland in the sun going to the DOGS. I have noit seen sxm in more then 5 years and when i see thios vidoe it just makes me want to cry.

its beautiful. alot of beaches, good shopping, lots of things to keep you busy, great hotels, and its a very friendly island. its a must see

Your an idiot!!! Go visit it, the entrance to the hotel looks like the entrance to a warehouse facility, its THE UGLIEST hotel on island as of right now, where in the world do you drive past mechanical systems and closed parking before you even see the entrance to the damn hotel???

While WESTIN is profiting from the WESTIN's name now, lets see what will happen just before those 10 years of the tax holiday is over. Beach access: through the hotel, and only 7 parking spaces offered to the residents, locals and island visitors staying at other hotels to use the beach.

All the dollars? lets see, WESTIN has received a ten year tax holiday from the local government. WESTIN is employing Philipinos and are not training or employing the young students from the island of St.Maarten. The island beach policy reads that development should stay 50 meters away from the high water line. The beach policy also reads that no motorised vehicules should be on the beach. WESTIN hotel has left 7 parking spaces for the locals to visit the beach.

I can see your point...it's sort of like here when a Walmart is moving into a small town or community and all of the residents get all upset because they want to keep their town small and tranquil. Then once then see all of the dollars the company generates for them, and how their way of life improves they are happy. Let's reconnect again in a couple years!

You should finish this video with the current property - and when the condo's are done you should show those as well. Don't forget the taxes and dollars that tourists are paying to improve things such as roads and schools on the island.

As a st.maartener living abroad I can tell you the island is quickly loosing its "paradiso" appeal. What is happening is called quantity over quality. Its a shame really but its too far gone to recover from it now...... Oh well, soon enough SXM will be like another miami of hawaii or virgin islands....just another water park

NNNOOOOOO! that sucks REALLY BAD! watching a perfect beach go to waste,... that makes me mad to know that was accualy built. man, all you would need right there is a small little bamboo, bar, thing and some tikis. i would much rather go there than a gay hotel on the beach. NOT WORTH 250 JOBS.

It seems ignorance and arrogance combined with a liberal dose of greed can turn any paradise into Honolulu. Paradise will soon be completely paved. I am glad I can hold pleasant memories of my trip to Dawn Beach because that was my last trip. I hate running into other travelers, mostly Americans, that want to visit a lovely island but still have McDonalds, KFC, and a 24hr Supermarket.

Very moving indeed. Cars on St. Maarten is quite the problem, but thats also because our public transportation is just so bad... I have more need for a car in little St. Maarten than i do in the much larger Holland - I can happily take the bus in Holland, SXM is a different story... But there is hope - With gebe charging so much damn money for electricity and gas prices so damn high, soon no one will be able to afford it and nobody will use them! Hooray for market forces! :)

And i just have to say all that filling of the lagoon and the pond to make that ugly monstrous building that they call the airport was really a waste!! and it lacks culture..
