What time of year was this?
August 4th to be exact
Nice. I’m taking the fam to alaska mid-late July and trying to catch the sockeye run. Any advise, especially gear would be appreciated

We went the day before this on the lower Kenai. I fished with a 7-8wt but you kinda need a boat. You post up on shore and floss for them with heavy weight and a big hook.

What is your setup for jacket and fishing waders? I'm in the market for a new set that can go from hot temperatures to cold temperatures fishing.
We had the Simms G4 and G3 waders. Marcus has on the Simms Bulkly Jacker and Katie had on the G3 jacket

Entertaining video. Thanks. The only suggestion I have is next time you fish for sockeye, use a 2/0 or 3/0 Gamakatsu Nautilus circle hook. Virtually snag free fishing. Plenty of videos on TH-cam on the use of these hooks.

Kooks. Another underwhelming video from y'all. Bad edit, worse music, and guy on camera couldn't be worse. The cigar while kid is netting is peak cringe. Y'all should pack it up. There are far better folks with much better skill all over TH-cam. Time to stop posting this garbage content.
I assume you just don't know any better in terms of how to handle/release trout and what they can tolerate, but they cannot be out of the water that long guys. Hold your breath. If you need to take a breath, then the fish has been out of the water long enough and it needs to be back in the water. Sometimes you have to give up the photo shot and just release the fish. Screwing around with flies in the net and the camera and talking, etc. just isn't a responsible way to handle and release trout when it results on so much time out of the water. If it is in the net , it does not good if the belly and tail are submerged but the head is out. I assume you intended no harm and love trout as much as the rest of us, so I urge you to strive to keep your fish out of the water for much, much shorter periods of time in the future. Tight lines.
Imagine knowing how to handle fish being released instead of letting them bang around on rocks. And maybe, just maybe…. Keeping them in the water instead of out gasping for air for extended periods of time. Strange

When I see people griping about handling fish, etc., I typically assume they are just trying to find something to complain about. I want to just be appreciative of the effort and information provided. But damn, that was excessive handling of fish you intend to release. Sheesh.

Why do so many of you feel a need to grab with your hands and squeeze the fish? Just turn over the net after you remove the fly. Less harm to the fish.

Introduced means it’s invasive. Just because the DNR did it still means it’s not native to that stream. Maybe instead of getting on the internet to look stupid you should use it to learn something (use a dictionary). Those Browns don’t belong there and they up the limit on them. I don’t eat fish so it’s better they go back into the stream if they die because they become food for bugs and other organisms so the fish that belong there can get bigger. You can give us a call anytime ( leave a voicemail if we don’t answer) we can set up a time and place to talk. These Browns are invasive and the state and biologists are wanting them out, killed and mistreated. There is even a sign in video as they are walking down to the river
But theyre not even keeping the browns they catch in the video they’re releasing them back.
The Lost is a great dry fly stream IF you have the skill to do it.

I usually use a large white with a little sparkly streamer! I’f it’s large enough suckers won’t mess with it but the larger trout will hold on tight lines!

Far better anglers and operations than yours respected this place enough never to name it. Really I have go more comments to us personally saying it’s nice. There is nothing secret about this spot. I worked at a fly shop in SLC and at least 3-6 times a week on a 3 day work week people would come in asking what’s working on this section. We are gaining absolutely nothing out of this. Haven’t had one person on this river say a thing to me. You’re just another keyboard warrior. Every time I have fished this driver there are 5 cars in the parking lot and if you look at the parking lot log there are at least 10 cars per day that go near before this video was release. AS MUCH AS YOU THINK ITS A SECRET ITS NOT. EVERYONE ALREADY KNOWS ABOUT IT. PS we aren’t even a shop. But thanks for watching.
