Yes! If only I had more time during this session that would have been a blast. Lately I've enjoyed making more sparse arrangements on the M:S, and then filling in the interest with a live instrument to save cycles on sequencing everything. 😁

@@Two-Eyed_Boy I’ve been considering getting a model:samples for a while, initially the idea was to lay down some classic 80s Linndrum samples and play some dark wave style electric bass over the beats, a bit like Molchat Doma if you’ve ever heard them. I then got interested in the more general samples and sequencing aspects of the M:S. I’ve listened to a lot of electronic music played with the M:S on TH-cam and elektonauts but until I found your channel, I’ve not heard anything demonstrating samples derived from more traditional rock / alt / indie/ jazz music, or anyone playing bass / guitar with it. I feel that is definitely your vibe and it sounds really unique and interesting so I’m confident that is totally achievable on the M:S. I’m definitely going to get one. Producing anything listenable is another matter entirely but I’ll have fun trying. Might need some tips and pointers along the way if you’re open to that?

Also what is the sample at 0:47 on this track, it’s so familiar but I can’t place it, Lemon Jelly, Beth Orton? It’s driving me crazy 😜

@@deliveranzfc4834 very cool! I am very into your initial idea of putting a M:S to use. I would probably do well to load up some classic drum machine samples to spark some inspiration! It sounds like you've done your research on the M:S. I've had mine a bit over a year and I still think it's an incredible value for gaining access to the Elektron sequencer and workflow! The ONLY gripe I have is that you have to load samples via USB - no line-in/live sampling. I just had to adjust my expectations and my approach a bit and I don't miss that ability as much anymore! I'd be more than happy to help however I can. I'm on Instagram and also have my email address over on my Bandcamp page! (I'd type it here but YT would wipe the comment.) 😁🤘

​@@deliveranzfc4834interesting guesses! Most of the samples from this session were from an Elliott Smith song, though by the time they've been pitched around and reversed, it definitely takes on a difficult sound!

Thanks a lot! I generally create a handful of patterns and have an idea of how to best navigate my way through them, but no two takes ever go the same way! One trick I rely heavily on with the M:S is setting the delay feedback to 100, and then sending a track or two through it. The delay catches the sounds and let's you carry it over to other patterns, assuming they also have the delay feedback set high 😁

Hahaha oh man, it's always a roll of the dice when I try out samples. My process is usually the same...does it fit if I let the sample run long? Does it fit if I let it run short and repeat it in a rhythm? Can I reverse it? If the answer to all 3 is no, I quickly move along with my night!

Don't be fooled, but my oldest is 7 and it takes just the right circumstances for him to want to jam. He sat down with my 2 years back during my first JAMuary and that ended up being one of my favorite things I've shared on here! It's called 'A jam for cool boys who stay up late and never go to sleep' or something along those lines from Jan 2022!

Funny you should ask! This little jam is actually what reminded me of that old clock. Unfortunately, I lost track of it, but pretty much the next night I found that they're all over eBay and I ordered one that looked similar. It appears in a few of the videos that follow and it sounds just as good as it did! Tick-tick-tick-tick....
