    For your cock fletching you could use a different color feather.Check the grain of the shaft it should be going left to right when the arrow is in the bow.You should also be able to apply the thread securely without glue.

    Hello, Very nice presentation and lots of good ideas for dynamic practice. The modified standard nocks work, however you can get a lot of different speed nocks, nocks used by horseback archers from Vermil, Koc Nock, Alibow, Kassai Horseback Archery, etc. You may find some, which can work or work better for you.

    I'd love to see a video on different techniques for achieving alignment during the draw cycle. For example hunters have a stealthy way of achieving alignment that minimizes extraneous movements. Compared to the Olympic recurve way of achieving alignment which optimizes stability and precision.

    Great reviews. I really love that AF Archery Que Yue - it's my favourite daily shooter as well. I started archery 3 years ago shooting low poundage bows and gradually worked up to my hunting recurve which is at 52lbs at my draw length of 31.5". I found that shooting with a tab vs. glove reduced pressure on the fingers but there's no substitute for strengthening the finger tendons which can only be done over time and increasing load, imo. The other advantage that a tab has is that if fits under a fingerless mitten since I hunt well into the winter with -30C temps.

    Would that khatra be applicable to western style bows? Admittedly I’m thinking particularly English longbow. Or is it more for the bows found more in Asia, Mid East and Slavic regions etc? Side note I’d disagree with the Olympic recurve (OR for short) comment regarding the string on the arm slapping etc, assuming I understood the comment you made correctly: I noted you were griping the bow when talking about OR and thus having the string on the forearm. You don’t grip the OR. I got taught to keep fingers loose and use the pressure of the bow pressing into the palm when drawing the string, keeping knuckles 45 degrees to the bow. This rotates the arm so the natural curve in your arm moves the string off the forearm. If done right there shouldn’t be any slapping of the forearm. I do cede there’s little room for error though. My forearm can attest a few weeks ago. 😂 The khatra does seem to make slight form deviations more forgiving on your soft fleshy tissue. Less chance of pain and bruising not only of the arm but your ego. 😂😂😂 “It’s not what it looks like… I ran into a bow string?”

    I can definitely see how the Slavic draw would be a very natural way to move an arrow to the string without as much fucking about compared to say Mediterranean or three finger etc. seems like there’s less rotating of the wrist. Better economy of motion?

    ho notato che usi il modo di rendere la corda e di tirare l'arco del tipo moderno coma si fa in gita o olimpionico. Non sarebbe meglio se a secondo della tipologia di arco usassi il proprio modo , esempio longbow le dita della corda vanno una sopra alla corda e due sotto la freccia va appoggiata nella mano del arco dalla parte dell' indice. per gli asiatici andrebbe il trumb rilese e la freccia su lerco dalla parte del pollice. se usassi il sistema siriano la mano che tende la corda usa portare il dito indice appoggiato alla freccia. I noticed that you use the way of making the string and drawing the bow of the modern type as one does on a field trip or an Olympian. Wouldn't it be better if, depending on the type of bow, you used your own way, for example longbow the fingers of the string go one above the string and two below the arrow should be placed in the hand of the bow on the index side. for Asians the trumb should be raised and the arrow on the lerco on the thumb side. if I used the Syrian system, the hand holding the string usually places the index finger resting on the arrow.

    very interesting method, how does the flight of the arrow get affected by the change of position on the bow. also where can i get a bow like that

    • @practicalarchery
      @practicalarchery ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you @jtepsr, you can get this bow from AF Archery, it's a 30lbs Turkish Bow Que Yue. Khatra movement is supposed to help the arrow leave the riser cleanly, without the feather end of the shaft flexing into the riser as it receives the energy from the bow string. But, as I mentioned in my video, I also shoot on the left hand side of the bow without Khatra - so, it really just comes down to what technique you practice the most. You can get good at anything if you practice :)

    Slow motion cameras absolutely debunk khatra. Any movement of the bow before the arrow clears the string, destroys accuracy. Any movement of the bow after the arrow clears the string, does nothing.

      @@MartinNateDD BULLSHIT!!! the number one rule for accuracy in archery is never move the bow, before the arrow clears the string or the bow. Sad to say that common sense is lost with many people.

    • @MartinNateDD
      @MartinNateDD ปีที่แล้ว

      @@twintwo1429 no I mean, some links to videos of “slow motion cameras absolutely debunk khatra” maybe? I’m not finding any. also the only archery style I’ve seen where the bow stays exactly still is only compound bow shooting. Even olympic recurve bow shooting has the bow swing down as a follow-through as a means of “increasing accuracy” (in parenthesis bc I have no extended experience in olympic style takedown recurves). So I’m genuinely curious where you got this dogma that the bow absolutely HAS to stay still.

    • @twintwo1429
      @twintwo1429 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MartinNateDD in reality, you don't need to find any. You know, once that string is released, if it moves left, right, up, or down, then the arrow will no longer be on its intended path. There is a reason Olympic archers do not move at all till the arrow is well passed the bow. If khatra was viable, Olympic archers would use it. COMMON SENSE PREVAILS. No ill will intended, just look at things, logically. Then experiment with other variations and options.

    • @MartinNateDD
      @MartinNateDD ปีที่แล้ว

      @@twintwo1429 You said to look up slow mo vids of it, so I’m trying to. Where is this slow mo proof of debunking khatra you mentioned? “there is a reason olympic archers do not move at all till the arrow is well passed the bow” so why bother moving at all? “Just look at things logically” is a good principle, tho if it’s not something we understand, we should experiment and do some research. The earth being square was a “logical” thing back in the day. You’re treading on an archery technique that has been extensively used and practiced by various asiatic cultures that’s been busy fighting each other for literal hundreds to thousands of years. If you got better proof then they have that it doesnt work, I want to see.

      Nope. Slow motion video shows that it does work. See other videos!!! Plus anyone can do it and see for themselves. Does not take much practice to see the difference. Find "simple khatra" by Armin Hirmer and you will be able to see the difference immediately.
