My picks for the top ten best Barbie dolls of the 1970s (excluding Ken, Skipper and Francie-sized dolls). All opinions are my own, and therefore correct.
Superstar barbie to me was a mother of a lot of kids who lived with her husband, ken with that blue outfit, in a van. They were a poor, but loving family. I spent hours in that drama every day. The boy next door made us kick ass campgrounds in the yard. It was my own soap opera.

Do You know anything to use for dark around the earrings holes. It must of been treated for green ears is whyit is dark around the ears. it a # 4 Barbie.
My mother bought my younger sister & me our first Barbie dolls maybe in 1971. I hated my doll because she had black hair. My sister got the blonde doll. I was livid with my mother for not having us pick out our own Barbie doll. It was not that I hated black hair, but I preferred blonde then. I did have the 1977 Superstar "preferrably blonde" Barbie but cannot remember having any other Barbies in the seventies. Shortly after getting 1977 Barbie, I stopped playing with or having dolls until I was in my twenties when I bought the miniature Barbies of the World dolls from McDonald's. But I did not keep them. Then in my thirties, a total change happened; I no longer favoured blonde hair but black hair! I even keep my hair dyed black for years now! Feeling bad for hating my first black haired Barbie, I bought a few black haired Barbie & Ken dolls to replace the one I hated.

love this! is it better to leave an ash blonde swirl as is, or add hair or reroot to make more volume?
I would leave her original hair in place if it hasn't been cut. You can usually restore Swirls to a lovely appearance without rerooting unless they have significant hair loss or bad haircuts. And it's very difficult to get a fiber match to the ash blonde hair color, to my knowledge the fibers offered by the doll hair companies are either heavy Saran, which is much too glossy anyway, or something like Kanekalon, which just isn't a match to the original. I find the closest match to early Ponytail hair is actually acetate hair, but the color range offered is very limited.
Live action PJ was my most favourite doll of all of my barbies.

What is the difference between a 1969 flip haired twist n turn Barbie and a 1970 one?
Generally speaking, out of the box it's a bit hard to tell, but the brows on the 1970 dolls are generally a darker brown than the 1969 dolls. The brows on the earlier dolls are about the same color as the long-haired TNTs from 1967 and 1968. It's not relevant for my doll, but the hair on the 1970 TNTs also tends to be a looser flip hairstyle, with larger curls at the ends.

Fantastic video! Fashion Photo PJ was my all-time favorite of the ones I had growing up. I still have her, but her arm is broken. I’ve never seen Yellowstone Kelley, but I do have a paper doll set of her. Looking forward to a video of top Barbies from the 1980s!
Depending on how your doll's arm is broken, it might be something you can fix. SuperStar arms can be difficult to switch out, but it can be done. Finding the right skintone on a donor body with a good arm can be a challenge, especially for Fashion Photo P.J. This is the orangey-pink that was only used in the late 70s and early 80s, but if the doll's left arm is the broken one, Western Barbie and Kissing Barbie make good arm donors.
Fashion Photo PJ was my favorite too because she was brunette, which was rare for 70's Barbies. I just wish there was also a Superstar PJ with a sapphire dress in the same style as the pink Superstar Barbie dress. What I found really hard to do was getting the pants or the straight skirt onto the FP dolls. They were so tight!
