Tadpole's Trains and Stations
United Kingdom
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 27 ก.พ. 2013
Hello!
I live in Southeast Cornwall and have decided to film trains at Cornish stations and put them out there for people to hopefully enjoy and see what a couple of hours at these stations look like. I hope to do some in Devon and further afield as the opportunity presents itself.
Most of what I am filming is the day to day workings of mostly passenger trains as the days of frequent freight workings in most of Cornwall are long gone. I include a little history of the stations I visit and look at the facilities and services.
I hope you enjoy my videos.
Equipment Used: GoPro 12 with Volta battery grip.

A lucky survivor. Thank you for featuring this delightful station.
Thank you. It is indeed, I enjoyed being there. It is quite peaceful.
Tavistock just five and a half miles away. All the trackbed is owned by Devon County Council and all clear. Two small bridges need reinstating and a simple terminus a la Gunnislake needs building. Come on!!
@@barnettiuk Couldn't agree more. Only a relatively small outlay needed until 2028 too. You only have to look at the congestion around Derriford in Plymouth to see how useful a link to Tavistock would be.
Do most of the trains pass through St Austell when going from London Paddington to Penzance. Thanks
@@Kasia-u1d Hi. They all stop at the station.
A very interesting station, I can't believe beer was thought unrefined!
Don't tell John that!!!
Good to see the station so well presented with a good floral display, many posters and restored buildings. Many thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for this video of Calstock.. and the Tamar Valley Line. I lived in Plymouth from 1974 until 1995 and visited Calstock on a number of occasions, by car and by train. I also took the Bus from Calstock to Tavi, with Student friends from Plymouth Polytechnic, as it was back then. Additionally, I danced at Calstock on a number of occasions with Plymouth Morris Men and Plymouth Maids Cloggies, so lots of happy and pleasant memories of my years in the West Country. I enjoyed the first episode and am looking forward to the next two episodes. Keep up the good work. Russ. Hampshire.
Thank you for your kind words. I'm glad it brought back some memories.
Thank you for a very informative and enjoyable video. I filmed at Saltash during my holiday at St Germans back in June. Having lived in Plymouth and SE Cornwall for over 30 years I am very familiar with Saltash and both the road and rail crossings. The station is looking much improved since i was last in the area back in the late 1990’s.
Thanks for your kind words, I'm glad you enjoyed it. The state of the station building two or three years ago was awful. Its good the council have given it a new lease of life.
Great video! Thanks! The GWR 80x are IETS though not ICE's
Thanks for the info!
Great video! Liked and subscribed
Thanks for your kind words and the sub!
Damn I didn't see you and u filmed my train come into St. Austell 2C11 Plymouth to Penzance I got off at St. Austell
I was lurking at the far end of the platform. If you do see me, please feel free to come and say hi 😀
Love the sound of the 25's
Likewise! 👍
Great video Paul! Visually interesting and very informative! 😃.
Glad you enjoyed it! I'm beginning to get the hang of these!
Another great video. Love the T-shirt.
Thanks! Had to join when they resurrected it. :)
Thank you for the date and location.
No problem 👍
Where is that going

Thanks! Transcription error! I've changed the TH-cam title but the in-video text is intrinsic.
Nice, did it run around to go back to Bodmin? Bean. 😁
Yes. I've included that, as well as this, on my Bodmin Parkway video. Made a nice change to the almost total GWR monopoly!
This brought back sweet memories of travelling to Lostwithiel. And of sometimes going canoeing from the last riverside shot you took - Happy days!!!
It was a lovely spot by the bridge. Very peaceful.
Makes me nostalgic for home
Glad you enjoyed it ❤
Nice variety there
Makes a change. Very little freight down here these days :(
A charming video of Liskeard station(s). Good information as well. Platform 3 Looe buildings are thankfully still standing and are in use etc. I’ve always wanted to travel to Looe on the railway from Liskeard, maybe this year I will. Just subscribed btw.
Thanks for your kind words. The Looe line is lovely, especially in the summer when the Sun is shining. Many thanks for the sub :)
Awesome
Thank you for your kind word. :)
Great exploration! It's good that the old BR western region brown enamel totem signs have been retained on the Looe platform.
Thank you! Platform 3 does definitely have a more traditional feel to it.
At least you can get a train to Liskeard . Pocklington area we're I am you have to rely on buses and there are more times when the a1079 is gridlocked with vehicles. There used to be a perfectly good rail line between York & hull until that psycho Beeching fkd it all up.
Yup. I live about 8 miles away and we lost our service thanks to Beeching. Nobody predicted that cars would become so prevalent. Bus companies will only run a decently frequent service if it makes them a decent profit.
Great video thanks, used to love going to Penzance. It's a shame there was no Class 08 piloting the sleeper stock out of the station.
Thanks Matt. I remember the days of an 08 there as well as stabled 47s and 50s.
Watching this makes me very homesick😭
Hopefully in a good way.
Thanks - another good video and location. I can't remember many trains stopping there when I was in Cornwall.
Thanks Matt. Glad you enjoyed it. I'm looking at Menheniot next.
