1. I started out on trumpet, but bassoon is the one I've studied at a higher level. 2. No. I have saved up and spent a lot of money on instruments, but some of these were borrowed. (Bass clarinet, baritone sax, euphonium and all the percussion.)

I see that you commented on "Ouroboros" too, so you've already discovered the answer to that question: Yes, but not as well as the instruments I used in this video.

There are *many* versions of it on TH-cam, including the original and different orchestral versions. Darude has an orchestral version with the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra which is probably the best. I also quite like Finnish folk band Takapotku's version, which is the best fully acoustic version of the tune that I've heard. (Ok, they have an electric bass, but I'd argue that the sound is still acoustic.)
