Tesla Sunshade Hack: improvements to Temai roof sunshade to block sun and heat
Step by step process to adapt the Telsa Model 3 (or Model Y) Temai roof sunshade by installing a silver bubblewrap sunshade above the Temai sunshade in the Tesla's glass roof. It makes a huge difference. The vehicle is markedly cooler.
We live in a sunny area. The run bakes through the Tesla's glass roof.
We bought Temai Sunshades. These fit the Tesla very well, but came with a black plastic / vinyl lining that made shade, but also absorbed lots heat. We therefore looked for an improvement to the Temai product, but could not find anything to buy. So we made our own as shown in the video.
Needed:
Temai Sunshades and clips
Two silver bubblewrap sunshade / Front accordion sunshade. Similar to the one from K-Mart (Australia) for less than $5 each. Make sure it is large enough.
Permanent marker
Scissors
Process:
Place the Temai sunshade on the silver sunshade
Line the circumference with the permanent marker
Cut out the shape
Clip the silver sunshade to the top of the Temai sunshade with the Temai clips
Install into the Tesla's roof
We have been using the improved sunshades for a few months and we are very happy with the outcome. Car stays cooler for longer and in stead of absorbing the heat, the silver bubble wrap sunshade reflects the heat and insulates the vehicle passengers from the direct rays and the heat that builds up between the glass roof and the sunshade over time.
Cheap, quick and easy!

South Africa Estuary Breach Whitewater Swimming...
มุมมอง 4769 ปีที่แล้ว
Once in a few years this particular estuary in the Western Cape, South Africa has to be breached 'unnaturally' to allow the natural balance to remain. We were fortunate enough to hear about the event and made our way to the location before sunrise in the morning. It started off as a ankle deep trickle that eventually turned into a mighty stream with tremendous force and massive rapids. Initiall...

Alcatraz Mission 2
มุมมอง 7K14 ปีที่แล้ว
Alcatraz Mission 2 was undertaken by James Taylor and Bart Willems after Alcatraz Mission 1 failed because of extreme currents in the San Francisco Bay. The plan was to paddle on surfboards from San Francisco to Alcatraz and swim back. Was Alcatraz Mission 2 successful? Did they make it across the shipping lane before dark? Were they picked up by the US Coast Guard? Watch to find out... See Alc...

How longs ur board??
I saw a girl in the line up, was she the only one?
I'm 14 years old and I'm hoping to be a big wave surfer. My goal in 2 years to surf Maverick's and then later to move on to places like Waimea or Cortes Bank. So I was wondering if you could give me any advice. Thanks for the video.(And Live Like Jay) Mahalo.(:
i spearfish at night and idgaf
Awesome video! You're Mavericks one was awesome too. how sketchy is the drop at Wiamea?
Hey Bart just a question more for curiosity than anything else but what sort of fitness level is required to tackle waves that big? Is everyone in the lineup able to do 5 minute breath holds? Also great video :)
Hi bart, cool vid, looks like you were having fun out there!
Did you miss the part where they were swimming at night in the middle of the bay?
Ya, im only 13, but my dream is to surf Mavericks. Mainly after I met Jeff Clark, it's just like such a rush!
Gracias!!! Que adrenalina!!! Con solo verlo :)
that looked fun how bigs your board? 3 or 4 fin?
great session man, how deep is it there?
Sure!
Couple of minutes... Once past the shore dump its quick
Thanks!
Thanks, Morgan. Mavericks is quite nerve racking at any size. Just get yourself a big board and paddle out to the break on a small day with a friend or two. Just to observe. Edge closer. Get a couple on the shoulder. Take a wipe or two... Then try a slightly bigger day. Train in the pool. Swimming mainly and if you like surfing bigger waves you'll soon know it and then you'll never look back. Remember - safety first - always.
Yahoooo! Pity it makes the waves look tiny
A bigger problem is the huge ships that have to stay in the shipping lanes and won't even feel running over to dudes paddling 10'2 surfboards...
South Africans, yes... Went to SF to surf so decided to get up to some other ocean stuff while it was flat. Wouldn't mind traveling the world and doing 'fun stuff' like this!
Hey, you have to weigh up the risk and reward... We decided to give it a go and made it back with all our limbs...
Thanks
Yes, the GoPro was perfect! Thanks for the positive vibes
Thanks Eric. Wish we had your advice when we tried the first time! If I'm ever back there I'll keep your sound advice in mind...
the peaceful music makes it seem so easy!! A true pro, sick video man
Jan, thanks for the news! Your 2 year holiday does not sound bad at all. That one session at strand hill on your red longboard still crystal clear in my mind.
FINALLY a go pro vid of mavs!
Hi Bart, browsing the net dreaming of waves while on extended(2 years) snowboarding trip to Canada - so I thought I gotta see you great videos from those legendary places again, they always charge me up with such a good energy...Thanks for that! What are you up to these days? Cape Town? You should post more footage from your local breaks there - I am still hoping to come and visit you for some SA surf experience in next few years!
How long did it take for u to paddle to the lineup?
1:20 bet that hurt a bit!
Great video! I live in Toronto and we have no waves close to here... I was in Israel this summer and surfed a little there (mainly got the hang of it). It's like I literally feel in love with the sport though, I've been watching surfing videos all month long!! I can't wait till next summer when I go to LA - that's gonna be a blast. But of course I won't go to any place with waves close to Mavericks but maybe in a few years when I'm more experienced! :)
Great supportive vibe in the water. I was also there in January when most of the traveling pro circus has left...
Thanks. Stayed under about 10seconds, but some people are not as lucky...
Stayed under max 10seconds... But I consider myself lucky...
Thanks
Thanks! Waimea scariness is size dependent. Gets much heavier as it gets bigger. This was not a very big day, so the takeoffs were fairly steep but the wave quickly runs into deeper water. You could boadyboard it if you can paddle fast enough to catch it... If you paddle out the first time on a day that is not very big you should be OK
Exactly, very scary!
Thanks
GoPro Hero 2...
:D
Well, Kurt played Elvis and married Goldie Hawn...except for that Tarentino car movie, he's done pretty well.....
;)
Thanks Taylor! Epic wave, especially where you took off - 15m closer to the violence than me... Are you still getting out there every winter?
Yes
GoPro HD surf Hero.... Great!
Thanks
Thanks, thats sound advice
Thanks
