Cochin & Travancore were princely states. What is Princely States? A princely state was a semi-autonomous region within the Indian subcontinent that was ruled by a local monarch under the suzerainty of the British Crown during the colonial era. These states were governed by kings, queens, or other traditional rulers, who retained control over internal matters like administration, revenue collection, and law enforcement. However, they were subordinate to the British government in foreign affairs, defense, and overall sovereignty. Travencore was a notorious state with inhuman practices of caste and heavy burden of tax collection. Tax on everything.. Litterally for everything even for female breast!!!
