I do what I want, but mostly I do something related to music and art.
Right now I am building guitar pedals, tweaking plugins and playing guitar.
DIY has been a hobby of mine for a long time and I've built guitars, guitar pedals, cabinets, microphones, wound my own pickups and things I can't even remember. I also record music and I am now trying to build myself a website and a place where I can share the knowledge I have and also the things I do.
I like to keep it all free so if you like the stuff I do I really appreciate any donations so I can keep doing this and sharing it for free streamlabs.com/dewil you can visit my shop there.
You can also become a Patreon www.patreon.com/Dewil if you'd like but I can not promise anything extra for now.
I will also hopefully be open for business soon. theofficialdewil.com/

That's a nice tip. Thanks =D
Thank you very much for the video. This is exactly what I've been looking for:D
Thank you, glad I could help. One thing I would add is to start with the volumes turned down and then slowly increasing the gain and not clip anything. Have fun and if something else comes into mind do ask and I'll see if I can help.
@@dewil7313 I do exactly that!;)
The default input trim on the latest version of Tonex is set to 8.5. Yours is set to 0. I guess you have an older version. You might want to raise the input trim to 8.5. The amps sound so much fuller.
Hey! Thanks, I'll try that and a good tip for anyone else also. I do use Amplitube more than Tonex generally but I do use the Tonex models inside Amplitube a lot.
I have this pack downloaded to Tonex. Haven't tried it yet though. There are so many great free and paid high gain captures available, this is a bit redundant to be honest.
I think you are right about reduntant. You can easily just go trough Tonenet and find great free captures for th high gain needs like you said =D Have fun.

Is it safe to use the amplitube straight to the bass amp from the interface headphone output?
Yes it is. I will actually make a video about this and how I go about setting it up inside my DAW (Studio one) and some of the stuff you can do with it when you do. I'll put the link in here when I get it done.
@@dewil7313 Thanks a lot! I tried doing that yesterday and it worked, but I won't do it again. My sound is in the amplitube, so I've been thinking for a long time how to get it to play live as well.
Yeah, that can be a little tricky depending on the gear you use. I am interested in why you decided to not do it again?
@@dewil7313 I read that it can be dangerous and break the amplifier but who knows :D For example if the signal is different kind from amplitube, what comes from a normal pedal, or something like that?:D If it's the only way to get my special sound when playing live, I'll probably do it in the future as well. 🙂

Pro tip. Put the playback speed of the video on x2 if I'm too slow and you're in a rush ;)
How do i make amplitube hear keylab essential 49 to record piano? I am completely new to all this i have only just got guitar to work and record in amplitube but i have an e drum kit and the key lab i want to record in amplitube. thanks
Oh you can't do that in amplitube since your keylab is a midi controller and does not send audio. Your E drum kit module probably can trough some output so that you could record in to it. I suggest you get yourself a DAW, which is short for digital audio workstation. In there you can use different virtual instruments to receive the midi information your keylab sends. I'll try and make a video on this shortly but you can find tons of info and the basics of a daw on youtube. I have this little video th-cam.com/video/aDNmxiijHhc/w-d-xo.html about how to get started using Reaper as your daw, unfortunately that one does not have the valuable information on midi controllers but it should give you an idea. I hope this helps.
I didn’t get it free but iv only recently gotten into amp locker and wow I love this amp it’s got so much thickness especially with the rank pedal my lord it can candle c1 tuning too which is honestly hard to find tbh
Yeah, I think it sounds amazing and I did not tweak the sound at all for the video. Try different cabs with it and I'm sure anyone can find their perfect high gain sound.
@@dewil7313 I agree about the cabs but a lot of amp sims iv used are dreadful for extremely low tuning I find anyways. Some are great for it and this is one of them
If I do I just usually drop down a half step but I got to try that now =D Glad you found a good one that works.
I'm glad to see you've went with the removable speaker route. You should try different sizes but keep them all with the same center point. 8" speakers are fun, cheap, and worth a try. Nice vid!
Thanks. Yep that was the plan I've had these two Celestions in storage for years. That said I am not goign to be hoarding more speakers, I'm just going to make one more board for that 16" speaker. It can also fit the 10" cab inside and I actually do have a video coming about how to build your own cab's. Did you check how much reduction you are getting out of yours btw?
Excellent work once again! I have a new cab winging its way from Thomann, so I'm going to see if I can build a box (without removing any fingers - I'm not the world's most practical person) and see how that goes. I really like this idea of swapping out the speakers though.
Thanks. That sounds cool. I just got all the plywood precut to my measurements, all I really needed to do was drill holes and screw. Oh and ofc for this update I went to the woodworking shop and did the holes for speakers with a jig saw. I do have a celestion 16" speaker that was manufactured during 67-72 that I am also going to make a panel for. I am sure you can build a nice box just plan it well and measure everything twice or three times =D Have fun.
@@dewil7313 Getting someone else to do the cutting (I think B&Q do that for a small fee) is going to be the key...it should make it a lot simpler, and simple is what I am, so that's what I like! Are you going to post a comparison video on the different speakers?
Now that you mention it yeah I can do that. It will take a while I got to get the board for the 16" one done since the shop will be closed for a while. I am also going to try my hand on getting my own Impulse responses from these.
I did add some foam inside, I also took IR's from the Creamback. You can check it here th-cam.com/video/8RKBQIZuWtA/w-d-xo.html
that sounds awesome
Thanks. It does sound great, pretty easy build and also a great candidate for mods. If you use IK multimedias Tonex stuff you can get the tone models of it since I have uploaded them on tonenet www.tone.net/tonex/users/thedewil
Great video, thanks for posting this. I want to build one of these for my Orange cab, can I ask why you didn't add in any acoustic foam to help reduce the external noise more?
Thank you. It's a nice thing to build and there are many ways to do it. I am actually going to upgrade this one and add more mass, the goal is to do this during June so check back and I'll show the results ;) Upgrading this was on my mind from the beginning. I have a Celestion creamback and V30 speakers that I will mount on to boards that I can then slip in and out of the box if I want to, like how David Ross does with his box on that small clip at the end. I don't think acoustic foam would add much reduction, I would probably use something else instead that. I'm pretty sure the added mass will give much more reduction and that it's all I really need.
th-cam.com/video/YFYQYcIzawk/w-d-xo.html There's the update.
I have a boss Katana MK II and I go from my interface monitor out to the power amp in. That way the amp doesnt color the sound from whatever sim Im using.
I have no experience about those amps myself. That's sounds cool and it's a nice tip.
@@dewil7313 you could also use the effects loop like you did as well. You should try a boss katana out next time your at a music store. They really are a great versatile amp for the money. I have had mine for a few years now.
e qual seria diferença de tone snap e amp... essa não entendi...rs
If I got that right you are asking what is the difference between and amp and a snap. I think you get some explanation tonocracy.com/features/ from here. If you have an amp you can tweak and sculpt the sound more, a snap gives you the sound of an amp on the state it was captured, meaning if it was captured with high gain you cant get it clean. You can try the free IK multimedia software also and see it yourself www.ikmultimedia.com/products/index.php?R=INIT&FV=free-software-related-products&CV=Other%20Filter Have fun.

Can this be done safely using just the soundcard and the pedal without the reamping box?
Yes it can, but it will sound like shit so it's not something you want to do. Luckily re-amp boxes are not that expensive and you could try and find one used if you want to make good captures. It seems you could try to do what this guy does th-cam.com/video/R7uLrKIxAqA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=VPV_UoVCRozgmgUj But for me it looks like too much of a hassle. Have fun =D

Do you have a pedal board that you are running before the audio interface, or are you plugged straight into the audio interface?
I actually have two pedal boards. I did two videos about building a simple one th-cam.com/video/ITYQjw5-ux4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=V5JOTJ4je3W_CmOX I will make a video with the second one and the two of them together and all the options I have with the,. I'll have to measure the dB reduction of my isolation cabinet and see what the results are. 25 dB is very significant for yours. Nice vid!
Thanks. Let me know the result when you do. 25 dB is already good so when I update it I expect even more so I can open up the amp more ofc =D
I can't stop using Tonocracy, for me it's the best plug in for guitars...
It sounds good and has everything you essentially need a great plugin. Only thing I for me was the CPU load was heavy so I hope they work on that.
Thx for this video. I followed the steps but I did not get the MIDI information like You at 02:10. What can be the cause? When I press ALT then my cursor goes into SPLIT mode and cuts the audio.
Thank you. I can't really tell what might be the cause I just tried it and it worked fine. I played single notes with a clean guitar sound and also did some speech, then I dragged melodyne into the the track and got the midi. Oh and I just noticed I can just drag it without holding any keys. I think ALT makes you shift to an alternative tool then, I have that when I press CTRL, that's something you might need to look at on keybinds I think. I hope you can sort it out, sorry I can't be of more help.
Can you do this without an interface? Could I possible use this for my modeling amp so I can make that sound better?
Not really, you would have a lot of latency. Interfaces are cheap fortunately, you can get one for under 50€. What would you like to do to your sound with amplitube?
@@dewil7313 for the amp can you connected to a pc via a cable that is 3.5mm to 1/4 because my amp make a ringing sound on my interface (some old m audio fasttrack)

Really need to work on your script Couldn't even get to the plugin part of video because of all the ahhhs and ummms. Have a idea of what you want to say before you hit record. Just saying.
Ummm, there was no script I just hit record ;) Mostly just wanted to tell about the site and put the link to it so anyone can try it for themselves. Thanks, Have fun and rock on.

Dewil-you are pracless mate. Again, following your quick simple tutorial I'm able not only to play but also record expression pedal in ableton. Many many thanks. regards andy
Awesome, this is the reason I've been doing these. Really nice to know I could help. If there's something you've been wondering about let me know and I might check it and make a video ;) Have fun.
Many thanks for great, patient tutorial. I'm able finally to play with wah in Ableton and it works. However once I want to record it the wah does not work. Any idea Dewil? regards andy

Can you run two channels into your interface? That way you can have like a clean channel with a chorus pedal then switch it back to your big muff and compressor and flanger?
Do you have the arduino code? Can you share? i have some troubles with the funcions for pessing the buttons. Thank you!
What sort of trouble do you have? I can try and see if I can put it on Github, I have not used it so much so we'll see if I manage. Right now I am very busy with other things but I'll shoot a message here when I get to it.
I'll link this here, I think the code was heavily based on something from the guy who has this channel. There might be some useful info there www.youtube.com/@NerdMusician
Very nice sounding amp! I'm new to Sims and IR and I want something for that 80's metal sound and a good clean tone. Thanks for the demo and the links!
Thanks. I think so too and this with some nice IR's will surely get the job done. I have a few videos on some other free delays and reverbs I think and you can find the links to them in the videos. Have fun and rock on =D
thanks man
Really glad if it was helpful, I do plan to make more so check back in case I make something interesting. Have fun =D
