What's the elevation there?
As a 69 year old flat lander from Iowa on 9/24/24 I hiked Hell Canyon and then did Elk Peak in the PM. Wore me out! Bruce
Iron Creek is my favorite
I've hiked there several times on the different trails, but never made it to the summit so it was nice seeing it. You didn't run into cows.
We didn’t see any cows. I think if you started at the trailhead that’s in the sandstone housing development, that would be a less steep route to get to the summit
I like the editing transitions
Thank you! Logan, my video editor, does a great job!
Definitely a great idea for the guide. Thank you for sharing. Everyone stay safe, happy and healthy. From Henrico County Virginia
Thank you for watching!
Very convenient location for a quick walkabout. Grizz was happy 😊. Thank you for sharing. Have a wonderful day. Everyone stay safe, happy and healthy. From Henrico County Virginia.
We have several options right in town that are great!
Whoaaa... sharp cliff drop.
Where does that thing go in winter...not cool. That's florida size.
Right? That’s why I live where it’s cold! The bugs are smaller! 😁
Gosh, throughout these videos, between the #MurderDeer, wrong turns, ending hikes after dark (mom’s not happy), spiders, and circling birds/buzzards/vultures, you’ve got quite a potential merch lineup there. Great overview of this hike!
Keeps life interesting! 😂 thank you for watching!
Looking forward to the #Spidergate TH-cam short video.
I’m sure my video editor will come up with something fun! 😁
😂
Great video!! So do think doing it clockwise would be less steep or about the same? Thanks
Sorry.. I asked my question right before you answered it in the video!!.. hahahaha
If you do it clockwise the climb is much shorter maybe a half mile of climbing. Counter clockwise it was about 2 miles of climbing.
Ummm the 7th Cavalry Trail during the rally. Been on parts of the hike you took, but not the last part overlooking Sturgis. Will have to try that sometime.
Its a nice view and not too far from the Lions club park trailhead.
Wonderful hike, thank you for sharing, lovely view of the City of Sturgis. Everyone stay safe, happy and healthy.
Thank you for watching!
Perfect! This is exactly the information I’ve been wanting. Thanks Amber!
Glad you found it helpful! Thanks for watching!
I just did black elk peak a month ago
Awesome!
It was really cool
Hiking in the rain, although uncomfortable, can be very rewarding. Fortunately/unfortunately I have done it many times. Great video , keep them coming.
I seem to have a knack for finding rain when hiking. 🤷♀️ thank you for watching!
Just happen to have read up on this place. Lots of Old West personalities buried there. What an opportunity for a great adventure. You should invest in a pedometer. Thank you for sharing. Need ice cream.
Always need ice cream! 😁 thank you for watching!
Hi Amber, I just picked up your guide. Are you going to put Hippie Hole, Poets table, cement ridge or botanical trails in it ant some point? Also the Custer sky line I believe it’s called?? Thanks for all you do!
The Custer skywalk will be in next years guide and is on our website trailaddict.com. As for the others, I don’t have plans at this time to include them in the guide. We are limited in pages by number of sponsors so like to keep mostly official, well-marked trails in the guide.
Thanks for the video!… kids also love the botanical trail by sand creek in Beulah. My daughter did Crow Peak at 5, but then didn’t want to go hiking much after that ☹️
Dugout Gulch by Beulah is a nice trail also! There are so many it was difficult to choose 10. My kids never want to go, but I’m hoping one day they will appreciate me making them go! 😁
Nice video👍 Been kind of smoky, hazy and hot🥵 here in Gillette all week
Only 105 here today! 😂🥵
Wildfire haze???
I didn’t think we had that over the weekend, but definitely getting some of that now!
Very well done, been to most at my time in Western South Dakota. The videos were accurate and your narrative about the trails was accurate, very well done.
Thank you for the kind words!
Awesome video!! And very informative.
Thank you for watching! Glad you liked it!
Were going to do both hikes to see the waterfalls. Think we will try Guadalajara's do you recommend anything?
I love their carne asada!
We were just there yesterday! Great weather.
Awesome!
Hooray Mom & Greg!! I think long hikes or late starting hikes (with risk of finishing after dark) need a simulcast with split screen of you and Mom! Also, Trail Addicts bingo card might be fun: Things Amber forgot, Amber takes a wrong turn, expletives, etc. might be fun. Another fun video. Love the content.
Haha! Those are some great ideas. But if we did a split screen of my mom, she’d prob be cussing more than me! 😂
Love your videos!! Just a suggestion if I may, is there a way to equal the volume out some between your voice and the music? With your voice as soft as it is, I have to crank the volume up to hear you, and then when you switch to the music it blows my speakers out.. or I could just be hard of hearing!!.. hahahaha
I will talk to my video editor and see if he can fix that. Thank you for the feedback!
Superb I really admire you and the work you do. THANKS
Thank you so much! I appreciate it!
Please be careful.❤
I try to be! Sometimes. 😁
Thanks for taking me on your hike. I miss the Black Hills.
Thank you for watching!
I volunteer to be shuttle driver 👋.
You’ll have to arm wrestle my mom for that position! 😁
Kids! Appreciate your Mom.
Some day they will look back and appreciate all the times I “tortured” them by making them hike with me! 😁
Is this area affected by the flooding like in the east? Planning to come in 2 weeks from Central Iowa.
No, we have not been affected by flooding here
Rattlesnakes like rocks 🪨 😮😳⚠️
Snakes aren’t bad. Just give them their space. Would much rather come across a snake than a spider! 😊
No crazy deer this hike.
Fortunately not this time! 😁
Great video! Thanks for sharing all this info. 👍🏼👍🏼
Thank you for watching!
Just finished this exact route thanks to your suggestion .Thank you so much as it was wonderful!(I never saw where to go to do the other direction)
Awesome! I’m glad you enjoyed it!
You are a legend. I bet your Fit bit thinks the same. You give us inspiration to get out and explore
Aw, that’s so nice of you to say. Thank you! 😊
So pretty... cant wait to go back !!!
It never gets old!
I don't like nothing that ain't got shoulders
😂 that has got to be the most unusual way I’ve ever heard someone say they don’t like snakes!
We are hiking Black Elk Peak tomorrow and I can't wait. Love all your vids and info. Good stuff and great scenery!! Keep it up !!!!!
Thank you! Have fun at Black Elk Peak!
@trailaddictSD it was a nice hike.. little too busy for me lol but the views were worth it. We did Big Pine and Horsethief Lake and a few more. The Black Hills never disappoint!. So many trails so little time
@@grandanbarbee7460 yes, Black Elk Peak can be busy. I usually take one of the other routes to the top to avoid people most of the way. Just posted a video for one of the other routes this morning. It's longer, but won't see many people until you get to the top, so worth it in my book! th-cam.com/video/B72flMm0laQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Sf7Tpy63wMeQZXdS
Coming from hot springs. What’s the best route to get there?
Quickest way: Hwy 79 to I90 to spearfish then take hwy 14 (spearfish canyon)
Bring somebody you don't like to break through the spider webs!
Yes!
Do you have to be on the lookout for bears? Do you take bear spray with you.
No. Technically we don’t have bears although there have reports of black bears being spotted occasionally.
She has large beautiful eyes. Like one of those paintings of a little girl with large prominent eyes.
Thank you!😊
That meadow at the top was a good spot for a Maria/Julie Andrews reenactment from Sound of Music…missed opportunity 😂😂😂 How are you finding the trails regarding ticks? Do you just spray beforehand and do you find it effective?
I’ve only had one tick this year and that was on the sturgis trail that starts at lions club park. Sometimes I spray, sometimes I forget. 🤷♀️ but I did get into some poison ivy on this trail, so watch out for that!
@@trailaddictSD Had one after Little Devil’s Tower/Poet’s Table but was likely the latter. Sprayed but must have found the one resistant one.
Great views! And what an awesome day to be outdoors! 😄💥👍
Everyday is an awesome day to be outdoors! (Almost!) 😉
Did many of these trails several years ago. They were all great. However I loved the sections of the Centenial Trail I was able to do. Would like to come back and do some more. Great job!
The Centennial is a great trail also. Thank you for the comment!
