Off the Grid Makes 99 - Making a Batch of Woodturned Eggs
มุมมอง 2905 หลายเดือนก่อน
These woodturned eggs are fun to make and are also a great way to decorate a wooden bowl. Here's how I go about making a batch of them.
Off the Grid Makes 96 - Casting Skulls
มุมมอง 5249 หลายเดือนก่อน
In my previous video I described how to sculpt a skull from monster clay. This video shows how I went about making a mould and casting multiple copies of the monster clay skull.
Off the Grid Makes 94 - Making a Skull From Monster Clay
มุมมอง 678ปีที่แล้ว
When I made my pirate bottles I made a small skull rather unsuccessfully from foam clay. In this project I tried to make a better job of my skull sculpture. I used Monster Clay for the first time and was a little more successful with this model.
Off the Grid Makes 88 - Zentangle Inspired Art for Beginners - Part 2
มุมมอง 130ปีที่แล้ว
Part 2 of a series of videos where I reflect on some of my early attempts at producing Zentangle inspired art. These are some very early drawings where I explain their construction and give some tips for beginners. You can find out more about Zentangles in my introductory videos... 1. th-cam.com/video/ADlhqq1Nfsg/w-d-xo.html 2. th-cam.com/video/gtAv-RGPneQ/w-d-xo.html
Off the Grid Makes 87 - A 'Clay' Pot from Banksia
มุมมอง 281ปีที่แล้ว
Banksia is a beautiful coloured timber but is quite difficult to work as it is is very open grained and quite soft. I think it suits this project though as I was going for a clay pot feel for the finished piece. This turning is inspired by African clay pots which I like for their rustic ornamentation combined with beautiful forms.

Off the Grid Makes 91 - Making Pirate Bottles

Some extra decoration for my pirate themed bar. These bottles add a bit of piratey atmosphere. Here's how I made them.
Off the Grid Makes 86 - Zentangles meet wood turning - A carved rim Platter
มุมมอง 293ปีที่แล้ว
In this project I combine two of my favourite activities, namely wood turning and drawing. I think this one turned out ok.
Off the Grid Makes 84a - Zentangle for Beginners
มุมมอง 458ปีที่แล้ว
This is a 'draw along with me' video for the complete beginner to Zentangle inspired art. In this video I explain how to approach a Zentangle or Zen Doodle type drawing. I have tried to keep it simple, but incorporate a few tips and details to get the beginner to complete a satisfying piece of work.
Off the Grid Makes 89 - Milk Bottle Cow Skulls
มุมมอง 6Kปีที่แล้ว
Following on from making human skulls from old milk bottles, I tried my hand at some small cow skulls made around a resin mould that I have had for some time. Here's the result
Off the Grid Makes 84 - Introducing Zentangles
มุมมอง 824ปีที่แล้ว
During one of the Covid lockdowns in 2020 I came across this drawing concept and immediately became fascinated with the idea. I spent a fair bit of time researching the methods and ideas and diving into the making of these little drawings. Over time I think my skills improved and I certainly have been able to apply the skills I picked up to other stuff that I make. Wood turnings in particular, ...
Off the Grid Makes 75 - Secrets of the Nouveau Bowl
มุมมอง 545ปีที่แล้ว
Occasionally I like to make a turning that has a bit of 'How did he do that?' factor about it. This turned bowl - made from Huon pine - uses a bit of carving and my little rotary tool mount jig to complete the piece. This design has a bit of art nouveau inspiration, hence the name. Here's how it was done...
Off the Grid Makes 12 - Making a Handy Mount for a Rotary Tool
มุมมอง 1.3Kปีที่แล้ว
This is a very useful little jig. It can serve as an aid for carvings on wood turnings. It can even help you sharpen your bandsaw. This is how I made it.
Off The Grid Makes 73 - How to Make Milk Bottle Skulls
มุมมอง 309Kปีที่แล้ว
My take on the re-purposing of plastic milk bottles to make decorative (and spooky) skulls.

dang, super cool thx for sharing, sub
This is perhaps best tutorial I’ve seen, I feel confident I can make this! I’m not making for anyone to climb or I might not be so confident! Seriously thank you for taking the time to teach others what you do so well.
Is it 10mm or 12mm rope? Thanx...
Clear, simple and inspiring. Thank you.
Lawn & landscape company here, need more shelving, & have an abundance of pallets. You’re a G brother
Super erklärt. Dankeschön 🍀
these are amazing! hope mine turn out as well, thank you
So cool! Thank you for this cant wait to try 🙌🏽
Brilliant idea I ❤️it👏👏👏🥰👍🙏🇳🇵
Спасибо, всё понятно и отлично сделано! Красивая малышка)
for the gun
plzzzzzzz
I don't have exact plans, coz I worked from a photo. But they fit comfortably in a hand so that might give you some idea?
There's a ruler in shot at 00:14 that should give you an idea
Thanks, i drew a design and now i can see that it is almost the same size@@OfftheGridMakes
what are the dimensions
Beautiful!
I like the simple stylised design to look floral. I'd not considered relief carving with burrs to do this.... hmmm. Interesting possibilities.
another great video. Are the paints acrylic ?
Great video, thanks for sharing.
whats the weight limit per shelf ? wanting to build this myself and curious about the limit
Well that's a tough question. A lot would depend on wheteher you used screws instead of recycling the nails like I did. I guess they are cheap enough to do a destructive test on them?
So the brand you SAY its an M and a W okay then if you say so as what I see is a burn mark looks some thing like I e a clover I say good on ya try again
Thanks for the feedback. I look forward to seeing examples of your work on your youtube channel so I can be more inspired. Please send me a link?
My long-used brand mark has a W and an M. OfftheGridMakes was no doubt respecting my mark. Classy move, mate!
I watched that, and it definitely gave me confidence that I could manage it too. Thanks for the inspiration!
You can do it!
Please make owl skull
Super
Wonderful Work !!!
Thankyou for this, its the best restoration I've seen so far. The difference was using beeswax rather than oil.
Glad it was helpful!
This is very satisfying
thank you
❤❤❤
can you show the knots your were making with the small rope around the larger rope
It's a common whipping. If you search, you'll find how to do it :-)
@@OfftheGridMakes awesome ty
I have, and will continue to exercise all appropriate restraint about these excellent turns items without succumbing to excessive use of puns. No sir, not one exception! ... egg. :P
good - no yokes please
Why paint that black and destroying the grain ... really strange things to do
Nice! Was the cord wrap on the first one mostly decorative?
Yes it was!
The cut in half on the bad saw was a great idea. I've see many of these videos and everyone starts with cutting wood for just one spoon
thanks for subscribing to our channel!
Love it!!!!
Your telling me I looked up videos to break down a wooden pallet and not one showed me the square shovel method lmao MY NEW FAVORITE PAGE!!!
Thank you. It works for me too!
I literally bought a pallet splitter because I thought there was no other way
I've been putting it on PINE WOOD, oh I'm such a fool! No one had explained to me that it works wildly differently depending on tannin content! Thank you, Sir.
Thank you for making this. The perfect amount of content with out any filler, and your narration is clear and consistent. I wish you produced every TH-cam instruction video. Fantastic end result. Would never have guessed that’s how it was made.
Amazing ❤
Thanks for making Messi skull Just a joke kidz
very good!
👏👏👏👏
Those are really neat. Love the clock tower.
Thank you! This is just what I was looking for!
Thats a great idea i have lots of milk jugs and now i know what to with them lol
[thank, you for sharing you're great video.] 💯 %
This is absolutely beautiful 😍❣️👍🏽 thanks for sharing!
Awesome piece!! Love. So how much toilet paper did you use and how long did you let it soak. Im wanting to make a skull piece.
Super cool! I think leaving some holes & imperfections such as missing teeth, especially if you're doing a graveyard thing or putting lights behind them. Love your pirate bar, Arrrgh!
What would be a good material to look for, for the original skull that won't melt or crack? Thank you!
O melhor tutorial, rápido e objetivo!! Muito obrigada ❤️❤️
Great followup to the quarter million milk bottle skulls! :D Give the people what they want ;)
Amazing!❤ I loved
