"I read Exodus and Leviticus and it was HARD." || Talk about the Bible with me! ✨️
Hey, new friends!
In today's video, I ramble... a lot. I just finished Exodus and Leviticus (which were so tedious, by the way), and I felt so uninspired and bored for TWO WEEKS! I wanted to tell you guys how I felt and what exactly happened throughout the entirety of these books... haha.
Not a lot happened. I heard about their building of sacred pieces of furniture and structures and the stone tablets that contained the first ever written commandments, and then I learned about offerings and laws and punishments for those laws!!
...Fun stuff, I know. That's what this video is about. My delightful experience! 🤧
I hope you enjoy me struggling to speak!

    The first half of Exodus is great because it tells the story of Moses' beginning and how God freed the Israelites from Egypt. In the second half of the book, it's easy to get bogged down with all the details of making the sanctuary (it's a lot!). Leviticus likewise is a challenge to get through, especially for a first-time reader. Congratulations on making it through both! With all its challenges, Leviticus does contain some real gems, even from a modern perspective. When Jesus is asked which commandment in the law is the greatest, one of the passages he cites is Leviticus 19.18: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. For that matter, the entire section called the moral code, which runs from chapter 18 - 20, has a lot of stuff that's still relevant today. It's also worth paying attention to the feast days in chapter 23 the next time you read through, since these foreshadow the overall plan of salvation through Jesus as laid out in the New Testament. Numbers is difficult to get through, also, although it's at least broken up by some narratives, such as the rebellion of Korah. One of my primary takeaways from Numbers is that God really likes order and structure, as opposed to chaos. This harkens back to the creation account in Genesis, in which God essentially takes a chaotic place and speaks order and design into it, thus creating our world. (I probably could have worded that a lot better, but hopefully you get the gist. Deuteronomy is actually easier for me to get through either Leviticus or Numbers, and also contains some great passages including reiterating the ten commandments, the shema (the Hebrew term for Deut. 6.5 in which we are told to love God supremely), and Deut. 18.18-19, in which God speaks of raising up a prophet like Moses at a later time. This is seen by many to be a Messianic passage. Joshua and Judges should be much more enjoyable read. Then there's Ruth, a precious little gem tucked in between Judges and the books of Samuel. Then there are 1 and 2 Samuel, arguably my favorite historical books to read. That's where you get into the story of King David and all the drama he goes through while being established as the king of Israel. I tell you, with all the backstabbing and political intrigue that goes on in those books, it's almost like reading a very short version of Game of Thrones (or "A Song of Ice and Fire" as the book series is properly titled). All this to say, getting through the Torah (at least many parts of it) can be a challenge, but there is also a lot of great material ahead. Keep reading for sure.

      This is such a lovely comment, and I'm so grateful that you took the time out of your day to do so!! I love that you call the good passages "hidden gems" because that's exactly how I felt when I stumbled upon them. I loved reading the commandments from the actual Bible and not just from pastors, and I enjoyed so many other things, too!! They really felt like I struck gold when they popped up. 😂 I'm currently almost through Numbers, and I've been loving it WAY more. It's interesting to see that each Christian has their own experience with reading because I think Numbers has been super entertaining so far!! Thank you again for commenting. God bless you! 🤍

    Luckily I was in love with the bible and God's word by the time I got to Leviticus because oh boy did it almost make me want to take a break! I'm glad you pressed through because YOU DID IT!! You got the understanding you need to read through the rest of the Old Testament! You know God's expectations of the Israelites as they arrive in the promised land! You'll now know it forever! Crazy, huh? Going back and listening to Moses say those things now after reading the rest of the Old Testament, the rules aren't quite so boring because I've seen (read about) them being broken so many times! It's kinda like at a modern-day trial, if someone was being tried for manslaughter and you had no idea why that was different than murder, hearing about the differences in law would be interesting vs. probably less interesting if no one had been killed and someone randomly handed you a rule book with the specifics of manslaughter vs. murder. You'd be like... uh, thanks? I guess that's cool that manslaughter and murder are different but why do I need to read this entire thing? It's boring!

      @beagobuzz 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Woahhhh. This is a brilliant perspective!!! I also love God's word, so I was happy to read about him working so hard to protect his men and lead them to safety even when they were WORSHIPPING HORRIBLE GODS WHILE MOSES WAS ON THE MOUNTAIN!? It was only 40 days..😭 I am actually so excited to know everything that was written in Exodus and Leviticus, BECAUSE OF the future reference! Knowing what these people have been through and have done is so amazing, and I'm happy that I decided to read it all instead of finding a summary. I'm so happy to start another book of the Bible. So, so happy!!!! 🥹🤍

    Please don’t put essential oils in a pagan category. Essential oils are medicinal, just like herbs and teas. Even baby Jesus was gifted with essential oils such as frankincense, which has natural antibacterial properties used on children. Obviously, other ancient civilizations including witches knew and used that too. Well, there were no pharmacists to formulate meds like today, so illnesses were treated naturally. Research Dr Barbara O’Neil. She’s a devoted Christian who uses natural medicine.

    • @beagobuzz
      @beagobuzz หลายเดือนก่อน

      Essential oils aren't what I meant, though. Those obviously have the opportunity to work. I was talking about the full-fledged naturalists who deny medicine because of a deep-rooted belief that oils will cure whatever ails them. The worship of essential oils is what I was referring to. The idolizing of them. Not the oils themselves.

      I pray over you and your heart and in that your heart and spirit be opened, set free from the painful barriers that disconnect you from our Lord, He never abandons us or ignores us, during our disconnected emotions in the meantime he simply guards us when in our most vulnerable times healing us in ways that we can't always feel, but he is always in us. He waits patiently for our healing minds to open up to the moment where we can finally break down those barriers and heal us fully. I have been going through the same experience for a long time and I now know that it wasn't my fault that I felt distant from God and God was also not distant at all, despite the pain ive been in and the warfare painful struggle I've had to accept him into my life and heart, he has been working stitch by stitch within me and my circumstances in so many ways that I couldn't see it for a long time, like those mini mechanisms inside a pocket watch; always in gear tinkering forward yet mostly unseen and unfelt until it's revealed that it was the inner workings the whole time. I pray for your comfort and I speak Jesus' unconditional love and acceptance over you, for you have the light in you and Jesus will always keep your lantern on.. free from shame and free from your insecurities, Jesus already knows you and your heart.

Psalm 23 When you grow bitter and critical... 1 Corinthians 13 When you want peace and rest... Matthew 11:25-30 When your prayers are selfish... Psalm 67 When you want courage for a task... Joshua 1 If you lose confidence in people... 1 Corinthians 13 If people seem unkind... John 15 Paul's secret to happiness... Colossians 3:12-17 I have since found other verses that I love more and keep in my heart, so I'm debating redoing this entirely. I suggest looking up your specific struggles and finding the verses to go along with those struggles, but having these ones on hand helps too! Hope this helps, and God bless you! 🤍

      Hmm. I might share my testimony in the future, but for now, I'm going to keep it private! It's a pretty chaotic story. 😅

      I recommend reading one chapter a day! Starting from Genesis all the way to Revelation, but there are also chronological reading plans that you can find on Google! :)

    I also like high lighten in my Bible. I have NIV NLT and king James . NIV and NLT are easier for me to understand.

    • @beagobuzz
      @beagobuzz หลายเดือนก่อน

      They're easier for me to understand, too! I definitely prefer to read the NIV exclusively, but on some occasions, I do enjoy the verses in KJV, just because there's a little more detail at times. But the NIV totally gets the job done. No complaints here. ❤️

    i love your love for the jacob and esau story! one thing that struck me is what a foil they are to cain and able. both brothers, both with one feeling bitterness towards the other, but one a story of destruction and the other a story of restoration. i just love it so much!! it really shows how God can build and heal broken relationships!

      You are so right about the brotherly relationships!!! I love that you made this connection! It is so true, and thank you so much for sharing with me! I'm going to make a note on this in my Bible. If it's meant to be, God will make it happen. Thank you again!! This was awesome to hear. ❤️
