Marlene Scicluna (formerly Galea) is a broadcast journalist and producer.
She started in broadcast media in 1987 as a 17-year old in Malta, as a presenter on 'Mill-Gżira ta' Calypso', formerly 'Mit-Tokk t’Għawdex'.
Following her return to her native country Australia, she was the Senior Producer with Maltese Language Programs on SBS Radio for 15 years; altogether 18 years as a broadcast journalist.
In 2015, Marlene co-created Maltese DownUnder, an independent community TV show produced in Melbourne. She directed, produced, co-edited and hosted 5 seasons of Maltese DownUnder. Marlene was a nominee for the 2019 Antenna Awards in the Best Culturally and/or Linguistically Diverse Personality.
Although fluent in Maltese and has worked in Maltese media for over 30 years, Marlene is only Maltese by adoption. She is very proud of her diverse heritage; born to an Aboriginal Australian mother and American father with Irish and German ancestry.

Land of fire & ice
Volcanoes, fjords, waterfalls, the Aurora Borealis... Iceland is simply spectacular! We swam in glacial waters between the tectonic plates, witnessed our 3rd & 4th Auroras, hiked dramatic ice caves and marvelled at nature's power! Our 10-day Icelandic adventure in April 2023 impressed us beyond words!
