The ONLY Maths That Matters on a Pool Table : Why playing the % matters
Are you tired of leaving shots on the table and giving your opponent easy opportunities? In this billiards video, we'll be discussing the importance of playing high percentage shots and how they can give you a competitive edge. By consistently playing high percentage shots, you'll be able to maximize your chances of success and put pressure on your opponent when playing 9 ball, 8 ball, straight pool, and one pocket. sighting is one thing cue dead straight is another the old saying" cueing where you are looking" is it and of course having a good memory to remember the picture of the angle required is another . we can all pot the blue dead straight into the blue pocket but try it 50 times and see how quickly your bad cue acting puts an angle on that simple dead straight pot . Cue action grip stance is everything from a consistency point and no doubt finer tweaks will help but putting on weight is another screw up because everything changes from that stephen hendry started putting weight on later in his life and his game has gone

    Great review! - Question: does that mean a this shaft is not at all low deflection? Since you mentioned it needs to be very stiff and that carbon fibre flex way less than maple. So I don´t get it, maybe you can help...............if Carbon Fibre is 200 and Maple 10, why are Carbon fibre playing shafts less deflection than maple?

    Hmmm....I wonder, do they have a version of number one, for the ladies? I know a lot of lady pool shooters that by halfway through a match, have used up all of their energy cleaning, wiping and polishing their play shaft. 😮 This could be absolutely game changing! Especially if the 1200 hundred dollar cue and 30 dollar cube of chalk isn't working as promised! Lol, keep it unique and fun, bro. 👍

    Since I only play on a couple of different tables I would be very interested in seeing how different conditions effect shots. Great video on the drag shot. I also use drag shots on side pocket shots with angles where I want to control how far the cue ball rolls after hitting the object ball. This is a very short drag shot, but also very effective.

    You are the perfect mix between Fargo and Dr. Dave. Keep up the great work. Question ..... shots close, sometimes tight, to the rail. (I don't want to say how many years) I've been hitting the pro side of the pocket. I have nice equipment and time is not an issue. I've been able to overcome it with consistent pace. Position, ugh, I'm back to square one. I can't grasp the angle on this shot. "Everything" else works to a point where I am comfortable. Getting better, I can't be the only one. Please make a video, related to this issue, with your unique insight. Thanks in advance.

      Right, it's not a new idea. A patent search shows step-down systems for parallax vision from 100 years ago. However, simply giving the device to someone without instruction won't help much. I don't know. As long as people are aware that they are really paying for the online videos and guides, and the device is "bonus" tool to be used with the lessons, then I think it's okay. I totally understand though. I can print one on my 3d printer for 5 cents.

    This is such an astute take thank you for this information, I honestly never thought of this in these terms. We use these concepts in failure analysis all the time, if you have a system with 100 critical parts and you've 1% failure chance on each part, then the system has going to have a 63% chance to fail. So on a run to 100 balls, if each shot averages to 99% success the odds that you succeed are staggeringly against you. The way it is fixed in the systems is to use redundancies, meaning for each critical part there is a back up. I think the same could be done in this example. Always have a backup plan(for the landing spot) with each lower probability shot(less than 99.9%) to increase the odds of overall success. If you can increase the odds of success to say 99.9% or one order of magnitude then you increase your odds to 90.4% to succeed. Even taking the average from 99% to 99.5% will increase you to 60.5%. I think this really explains why high st. pool runs are so damn difficult to achieve.

  • @SenseiNatePlaysPool

    This video deserves to go viral (as much as it can in the pool world). Understanding percentages doesn’t represent your ability to pocket a shot, it represents your ability to understand the totality of your game, strengths, weaknesses, and HOW to get better. Perspective is hard to come by in pool. Keep it up. Love it all.

  • @cellarcuesports
    @cellarcuesports ปีที่แล้ว

    I've just started to get good enough that Straight Pool is becoming a real interest of mine. Prior I've just found it frustrating. Either way, as percentages go, @OG29 has a bit of a point about how your opponent plays. A lot of times for me the way I play is dependent on my observations of my opponents, either by watching them in earlier matches or by observing how they react at the table in our own match. I'll play more aggressively against an opponent that I feel doesn't have the skillset to runout on me vs. one that I think does. I'm taking an educated guess, of course, but using that information to say that "I think my opponent only has a 20% chance of running out if I miss" might make me try a more difficult shot than I would try if I felt my opponent has an 80% chance of running out.
