Helpful video, Alex. Thank you!
Your GH5 still looks new! I have mine peeled on the grip already haha.
Glad I saw this vid. Was just about to buy this cam on sale but now I decided not to. And GoPro seems a little underwhelming for the price. I might just go with one of those super cheap cams that are under $100 as a start.
How is the battery holding up? My RC 60B is only lasting 20mins on full power instead of the original 44mins after 9 months of light use. Very disappointed with the quality.
Yes. Same here, Battery performance is super bad. Even when the light is switched off and not in use, it loses battery power. These days I only use it when it's pugged into the wall socket. It's failed me on a few professional shoots with clients, so I am super disappointed...
fye brodie thanks man

Lumix gh 5 gift giving please 🙏
lol no.
How did you end up with this kind of stuttering issue, my friend? Did you mix frame rates? Use overly high shutter speeds? Or maybe you tried to extract slow motion from regular footage? This could have been so easily avoided.
Which parts are stuttering?
I celebrate your photo travels cause you did not fall into the japanese cliché. Africa is gorgeous, landscapes, cities, towns, art, sunsets, languages and their beautiful and kind people. Never compared with the japanese cliché for the most of photographers. When you visit Asia, go for the southeastern Burma, Vietnam, Cambodya, central Asia like Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and of course the great eastern China. Thank you.
Thank you for your comment :) I'm actually not really into street photography, but Marrakesh has such a unique vibe that I could not help myself. There's some sort of magic there. I love it and so I am trying to capture it with my camera!
Thinking about upgrading to this camera. I am a huge Panasonic fan all the way back to miniDV 24p!
Thank you this video is very helpful
Hey Alex - Informative Video thanks for posting. The mini Umbrella? Do you have a link? TIA
hello friend! it helps me a lot thank you. is this setting also good for night time?? if not, could you please share me setting for the night time?
I like the Laowa 17mm 1.8. Nice little lens. Focus is smooth, and damped enough to prevent missing focus.
By the way folks to get the very best performance out of your gh5/gh5s....you definitely need the most appropriate memory cards.....the Sony TOUGH V90 cards and the Panasonic V90 cards are brilliant for professional use...Both cards have high write/read speeds which if shooting in 4k for lengths of time you will need these better cards....sansdisk lower version cards just won't cut it on 4k for long records....this is real practical professional advice. ...naturally if you have atomos monitors you may record in the monitor too if you own one...just saying....If you live in the uk you can sometimes find used ones on MPB (brilliant used professional camera and kit site )...hope this helps you all....
I just bought this
Bought 7artisans 25mm f/1.8 have yet to receive the lens… What do you think tho?
This was really nice Alex. I hope you really enjoy this little camera. I shoot even older camera from Olympus and I think they are all a joy to use. And like you said it is just fun to take them anywhere.
Thank you for the advise, Alex ! If the movie is taken with the GX80 (and I think I do), than it is amazing for such a camera !👋 Do you take it with or without a gimbal ? I own the GX85 with 14 - 42 X lens and 14 - 140 lens and I still have to find out, which setting is the best for me.
Excellent video...but you didnt mention shutter speed in your explanation of settings...Do you use 1/120 if using 60 fps or 1/200?
no, shutter speed is on Auto. I don't set anything manually on this camera since I am so run and gun most times!
@@justalexhimself I thought you had to select a shutter speed in auto and then it adjusts it automatically to suit the conditions?
@richardbrown9344 I think you're confusing shutter speed with frame rate? I set the frame rate manually. Usually 24 or 60 fps. Then I let the camera do the work for exposure :)
Just got this camera 2 months ago along with a Lumix 14-45mm for around $130.
"You will need some of this cleaning solution that comes from Amazon." Is there no one in the frigging internet that knows if this solution is any different from what we all already have around or houses for glasses, binoculars, etc?
What happened to your GX85? I think on several levels it is superior to the
EPL2? Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)
hah, I got bored of the GX80 and sold it to get some money to buy some other equipment that i needed. But yeah, it was. a great camera and I miss it.. !
Just bought one with a Minolta MD 28mm 3.5 lens.. what do you think about that lens.
@@martinpees don't know! Never used that lens. Do you like it?
@justalexhimself have to receive it yet😄 are you also familiar to pergear lenses?
@@martinpees I've heard of them - but never tested one out unfortunately :(
th-cam.com/video/XlTnoGjBbwY/w-d-xo.html May I ask what's the name of the handling accessory you put in your gx85's horseshoe mount? I'd love one of those for mine :)
@@albertobianciotto2716 search for "Hot shoe thumb grip" on Ebay ;)
Stop posting these videos please. Youre driving up prices and ruining it for everyone
@@MrDwightsimon I only posted one :(
@justalexhimself I think this was a comment towards the TH-cam photography community in general, but this is definitely a phenomena. However, I think that's also kinda the point. I hope it's newer or more budget photographers yanking up these cheap cameras and not resellers but it's hard to know
I think this is such an exaggeration, not all devices that get posted here on yt get higher prices. Especially if it's these kinds of devices that are missing a lot of features/ specs that are available in newer devices. E-PL2 is just too "handicapped" to even get higher prices, because of the outdated 12mp sensor (compared to the 16mp and even 20mp in newer Olympus/ OM System cameras), only fixed screen, very limited video capabilities, no live composite mode, to name a few. Not even the original Olympus EM-5 or EM-10 are getting jacked up prices because these have their newer iterations, it would make sense for the newer ones to get higher prices first, and also, there's just a lot of these camera models in circulation today that it doesn't make sense at all to jack up prices. Maybe if it's something like the Pen F, which is significantly harder to find than other Olympus cameras, it makes way more sense for that to be expensive, just like the Fujifilm X100 models. I myself am planning to buy either an Olympus EM5 or EM10 in December, I'm still saving up l, I've actually been holding out since last year, but the prices never seem to go up, in fact, I see one seller of the EM-5 even lower the price since I first saw it online. So yeah, it depends, but this E-PL2 ain't it.
@@justalexhimself It's not just you, it's everyone lol
@@RubbleD That's right! Look at the prices of almost every single Fuji X camera these days
Even video looks great! More than enough for “talking head” format
Да, вообще клёво для такой старой камеры)
Thanks for such a detailed personal account of your adventures with these lenses 👊
This is for dust. I'm looking for help with a fingerprint (asking for an idiot friend).
@Robin-bk2lm I think it would be the same exact process, you'll just need a tone of swabs to get the stain removed. Keep doing it. Eventually, it should all go away.
How are you not into filmmaking? Im a filmmaker who is impressed by your didactic knowledge.
haha thanks ;) I am dabbling in it at the moment :)
Clever workarounds
I don't use uv filters or nd filters. Just adjust shutter or aperture
Great video!! I do have a question for my lumix g85. On the focus ring, when I adjust it, everything goes blurry and won’t have anything in focus. Although I thought it was just a way to blur the background. Any idea to utilize it?
You need to use the focus ring to focus onto a specific subject. It seems that you're spinning the focus ring too much and getting everything out out of focus. Rotate it slowly and observe how the focus plain shifts.
@@justalexhimself okay I will give that a try it’s just that when I did it slowly it still blurred out my subject. It’s weird
I have the Laowa 17mm 1.8 and I like it a lot. Focusing is smooth, colors are bright. You get good bang for the buck.
great video, underlying message to me is…be creative and shoot and edit and have fun ! thanks for sharing, your film and edit and VO are inspiring
Awsome.. as I bought a GH5 just 6 months ago Im into any YT video like this one, but your content and message are excellent … I dont use the settings you suggest but I will give them a try, many thanks
Music is very distracting. If you must play music while speaking, it's best to use something without a strong beat.
Wtabout heating issue ?
Do you use an app when reframing and uploading ? Or just instagram?
I am a gh5 owner and i love my camera but i purchased a gh7 recently as well. Gh7 is better in almost any way. This means i dont use my gh5 anymore even tough i still love it and quality is still great. If you are on a budged gh5 is atill good but if you can, get gh7 .the improved dynamic range alone is worth it, not to mention the autofocus
I’ll give you 500 bucks for that gh5 😮
@@boomboombaby9140 😸 thank you very much but i still use it. It still is a fantastic camera if you know how to use it.
Do you mind if I ask you can you film and charge it at the same time? the Gh5, I mean. Sorry, I am a beginner beginner with cameras! Thanks for your help!
@ no it cant.
@@andersistbesser it’s an amazing camera I bought one off of eBay for 540 bucks I use to film music videos for independent and unsigned artists I made 6k off it in 2 months.🙂

Worth watching just to hear Oban described as a city.
This is done in order to future proof the content. When people watch this video in the year 3025, Oban will be a city ;) and the video won't be dated.
sorry for the random question i followed your guide a bit, for indoor settings with pretty good lighting. what do you recommend for record pickleball matches and me wanting to get the best quality/ also being able to capture everyone in the image. thank you!
Great tips. My footage lags a lot when tranferred to Capcut. Witj Clipchamp, I have to import the video with some kind of files. I just some explanation 🙏
I had a gx80 that I sold back in 2019, which also had a thumb grip. I just bought a new with only seventeen clicks yes seveneteen. including 12-32mm for 120 dollars .My question is where did you get your thumb grip from
Hi alex, Thanks for your interesting video. I learned a lot from it. But I have a question if i may: After ordering and returning a GX9 at mpb with a very sturdy( hard to move) dedicated exposure compensation dial, i bought , again at mpb the gx80/85. Now i'm a little worried about the freely moving sensor. Let me explain: when i turn off the camera and remove the lens i can see the sensor move freely and bouncing agains the side of the frame around the sensor. Is this normal? If it isn't i'll have to return it once more! Thanks for your advice. Have a nice day. Kind regards! Herman
@hermanverbaeten5894 hi Herman. Yes, that's completely normal. The censor on mft cameras that have ibis bounce around inside the camer body when switched off. It's the same on my Lumix GH5 and GH5mk2 and I've had them for years now! :) So, no need to return anything.
I discovered that the videos played back fine on the camera turns out the issue was with my pc and VLC media player, tried Cnx player they worked fine and VLC on my laptop they play fine on there. Have uninstalled VLC and Re-installed the latest version on my pc and the files all play fine now. (Didn't realise i was logged into my other channel when i replied to your comment on my phone). I am happy the camera is not faulty as i like it as it feels quite heavy and solid, touch screen menus are easy to use and i like the idea of the magnetic mount. The fittings are compatible with my old Crosstour camera which is also handy.
Do you have a colorgrading tutorial? Footage is awesome 😍
