    I agree with you about both the X-T1 and 50R. I still own my X-T1 and it's my favorite camera ever, it's just a very special thing to me. I also have the 50S (and a 50Sii currently) and I'm deciding whether or not I'll sell my 50S and keep the new 50Sii or sell the 50Sii and keep the original. In almost every technical metric, the mark 2 is the superior camera, but that doesn't mean that much to me as they're both extremely capable bodies. The 5 mark 1 feels better to use in (my) hand and that shutter?!?!? I could probably write it a love letter lol, what am amazing shutter sound and feeling. I thought about the 100S, but I literally ONLY want it for the phase detect AF. I have zero need or desire for 100mp, 50mp is already such a silly high amount for me, adding double just seems so useless. I have downloaded various raw files from both the 50 and 100mp sensors and seem to prefer the rendering of the 50mp sensor anyway. The 100 is the superior unit on a purely technical level though. We don't always have to choose that though. I'm curious to see what I end up doing and which body gets sold. Shame they don't offer the 50mp sensor with PDAF, that would be amazing.

      I don't know. difficult choice for you to make. I would NEVER ever sell my 50r. The sound of that shutter is just mind boggling. One morning it was my second day at the Maroon Bells outside Aspen. I arrived there after sunset because I was shooting at the continental divide at 12,o95 feet and it was very difficult to move and breathe. Anyway, I arrived at the pond/lake and the light was gorgeous, water was calm and there were fur or five other photographers there. Unbeknown to them had been there the day before and gotten some great shots but I figured I'm going past them again might as well stop. So I arrive, whip out the the 50r, setup the tripod, and I snapped my first shot. Let me tell you I've never seen so many heads turn at once! It was great! The clunk of that shutter, in the utter quiet was overwhelming. I took three shots, and as I picked up my tripod and headed back to my van I said: "There's the money shot. I'm done" as a joke. HAHAHHAHAHA. With regards to the XT1 I still carry mine. Even if I just run down the road to grab coffee it goes in my van with the 27mm 2.8, or the 35 1.4. It's Just an amazing camera! I've owned it since 2014 and I have no plans of getting rid of it.

      @@thelazyphotographer4761 HAHAHAHA that was an amazing story, and I completely agree about the shutter. It is my favorite shutter of all time, it's a gorgeous gorgeous unit. The X-T1 will be with me forever, I hope it never dies BUT if it did...I'd buy another immediately. It's just so special. That along with the 35mm f/1.4 and the original 56mm f/1.2, will be with me forever. The 35mm is probably my favorite lens of all time.

    • @thelazyphotographer4761
      @thelazyphotographer4761 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Depends on what you will be shooting! I still use mine. The lack of IBIS for me is not a huge issue, though I can go lower shutter speed with my 100s. In contrast to the IBIS the 50r has with the grip an ideal heft and weight combo which makes handholding a non-issue for me. I've used it in various low light situations indoors and out and have gotten some great results. Hope this helps, and thank you for writing in.

After all, they are good at getting Hurricanes, Storms, Sheets of Rain Pouring from the Sky. U could retest your Fuji gear to see if it can stand a little H2O. Sounds like Fuji's rep has been tarnished from the story I heard before from u. I just bought this lens also, but I paid $2499 retail for it from my local photo store. $1800 with the filter is a steal for this new lens. I wished I would've found a used one, but since it is still a new lens, I thought it would be almost impossible to find this lens in the used department for a while, so I pressed the trigger. Congratulations for your new acquired lens and from your video it looks good. Now I have to get a filter for mine which is another $100, at least for a B+W.

    Couldn’t agree more about the 50R. Gives me all the detail I need, and seems a natural “big brother” to my X-pro2. Interesting that, here in the UK, they don’t often come up for sale. When they do they fetch more that the 50S, which was more expensive than the 50R when new. I think folk are hanging onto them.

    Thank you for your video! I am tormented. I own a GFX50s, loaded with vertical grip and swivel viewfinder adapter and used it for a couple years for work. Is like new, not one blemish on it as I baby my cameras and want them like new always. When the GFX100 came out I jumped on it immediately and never used my GFX50s again. I have been thinking for the longest time to trade my GFX50s that I never use for a GFX50R as a daily shooter/street photography machine. The reality is that the GFX100 amazing as it is, is NOT a daily carry around camera, and so isn't either the GFX50s even without the vertical grip. Yes sure I "could" take out the detachable viewfinder and make it a smaller package but I cant shoot without a viewfinder.. I cant understand people doing photography with just the back screen LCD as 99% of people now-a-days do, I just cant do it. But given the age of these cameras, is it a good idea? I know I will get the same quality as the GFX50s, which is great, but then again this is an almost 10 year old sensor and a 5 year old camera and I just dont know if this makes any sense or, if in fact makes ALL the sense. Ive played around with just about ALL of Fujifilm's X cameras but, the APS-C thing is not for me.. I know some people will throw rocks at me for saying this but, Im sorry the APS-C quality is just not there no matter how you look at it, SPECIALLY compared to MF. Even the new X-H2S and TX-5 with the new 40MP sensors, sorry, the IQ cant be compared in any way with what the GFX cameras bring to the table and my eyes just cant accept anything inferior at this point. And as far as FF goes, yes there are AMAZING cameras out there that out solve the 50MP sensor on the GFXs like the Sony a7RV I played with a few days ago.. spectacular camera and files but.. its a computer! Its not a camera.. I have ZERO inspiration to go out and take photos with it, is that simple. So.. will I be happy with GFX50R? I know its a classic already and sensor age and resolution aside (both doesn't matter actually) the camera will surely take amazing photos for decades to come plus Fujifilm WILL NOT replace it or make another GFX rangefinder again! Since Fujifilm's new CEO stepped-in a couple years ago, everything changed and this is NOT the same company we used to love for their uniqueness, regular firmware updates and photographers' niche strategy. Its all over. So I feel with each passing day that the GFX50R is a camera that makes potentially more and more sense and will something of cult soon enough. Should I jump on it? Thanks again for the video and enthusiasm.. we badly need some honest and true enthusiasm in a word that has become so f...d-up these days all across the board :)

      Hello, Thank you for viewing and writing in. I'm very, very biased: I LOVE my 50R. Period. Th bulk, the feel, the look, and of course the image quality. However, if you are looking to do street I'm not sure the 50r will be fast enough. I would consider the 100s as it's smaller, lighter, faster, and has 5fps which may be helpful. With that being said I would not part with my 50r under any circumstances. Period. I also own a bunch of X lenses and the XT2, XT1, and XH1. Other than using for sports with my 50-140 I honestly don't use my X series as much as the 50r and 100s images are just amazing - as you well know. If you are going to be schlepping a MF camera around doing street shooting all day I would honestly consider the 100s instead of the 50r. Just my two cents and I hope that helps!! Again: Thank you very much. If you have any questions please reach out. And NO: I am not a SONY Fan either! Can't stand them actually.

    I just came across your channel and watched some of the videos, in one of them you mentioned not getting into the GFX system and rather use the money for vacations (which makes sense), what made you change your mind?

    • @thelazyphotographer4761

      Hello Enrique. THANK YOU for checking out my channel - It is very much appreciated. There were/are two reasons: 1. Futureproof 2. My CPA Futureproof: I've been selling stock since the 80's. My "most recent" camera that I used, and still use, is my Fuji XH-1. There were way too many super high megapixel cameras from Nikon, Sony etc out there I thought I should at least consider upping the ante and not left get behind. My CPA: I had been complaining about owing money every year. The year of the 100s I had been informed I had sold 29 images to a new hotel/conference center in Vancouver Canada for over US $55k. This was of course gross, before commissions, agent fees, etc. I also receive royalties from stock sales, stock income, a 500pc puzzle that was out in the market, cookbook covers, and I received my advanced royalties from two photo books - one titled "Waves" and one called "Mountains" which should be out this year. Anyway, as usual I was complaining to my accountant and he mentioned that I should spend some doe on equipment in order to minimize my taxes - so I did. I still travel - But the beauty of the 100s and even the 50r I can generate 700mb TIFF's which produce 80" x50" prints that I've seen in person. So that's my future proofing. Hope that helps! Again: Thank you for checking out my channel.

      Oh. And I also want to say that you and I both know that my current cameras - XT1, XH1 are more than capable of generating fine enlargements. However the general public, and no-nothing photo editors out there demand higher end, higher megapixels, full frame etc. etc. As a matter of fact I have 30" x 24" prints on display at the new wing at the Boston Children's Hospital. A "measly" 16 Megapixel XT1 took those images...

    I dropped mine and sent it to Fuji for repair. The estimate was a little high but I loved the camera. In about a week they sent me a brand new one for the price of the repair. Great service!

      Wow! And that right there is why I LOVE Fuji! I had a Fujifilm S2 Pro where the sensor went bad. I drove it over to Edison NJ Fuji HQ on a Thursday; On Monday morning I get a call back telling me the camera is ready for pickup. I almost choked on my coffee as I knew it was a bad sensor, and I couldn't shell out for that repair. When I asked how much I was told it was no charge and that they replaced the sensor, and the shutter mechanism thereby making it a new camera! I was floored to say the least.

    I'm 63 and a newbie into the world of photography, and I just purchased an X-T1 on Ebay. My budget is limited and for me I think this camera is the best bang for the buck. Can't wait to get into my hands and learning how to use it! There's something about the analog, and manual knobs on top that attracted me to it. What are the other cameras that you use? You didn't say what brand or model? They look great! Quite a collection!

      Yes! Great for you. I'm very happy you got yourself a new hobby. The XT1 is an awesome camera to start, and to advance! To answer your questions since 2012 when I first got into Fuji with an X-E1 I sold ALL my Nikon cameras and lenses and switched to Fuji. That is all I use now. I own the XT1, XH1, plus the medium format 50r and the 100s. I also own many Fuji lenses.I had an XT2 but it got salt water wet and stopped working so I sold it for part. What lenses do you have? Just a note that if you have any older lenses with adapters they will work on the Fuji. I still use my 1970's vintage Minolta lenses on my XT1 and also on the medium format gear. It's manual focus but it's a great way to start cheap. Stay in touch! Let me know your progress. And just to add what an amazing camera it is I have large 36" prints hanging in the "Hale Building" at the Boston Children's Hospital made with the XT1 and the 16mm 1.4 lens!

      @@thelazyphotographer4761 I haven't received the X-T1 yet, but it comes with the 18-55 mm lens. I don't have any other lens. I s great that you can print that size prints! I'll stay in touch once I get the camera and learn to use it properly. I'm very excited because I watch other TH-cam channels and the majority have something positive to say about the X-T1.

      Sweet. And as I type this, my XT1 and the 27mm 2.8 sits here on my desk ready to go. The XT3 is a great camera. As a matter of fact when it came out a few years ago I bought one. I used it for about a week, then Fuji decided to blow out the XH-1 with the battery grip and two extra batteries for about $300 less than the XT3. I couldn't resist so I boxed up the XT3 and sent it back. If it hadn't been for that amazing deal I would still have the -3. Best of Luck in the Fuji eco system.

    I had Olympus OM2 & OM4 in the early 80’s, then canon eos film bodies, then eos digitals, then sony A7R3, then about 3 years ago added a 50r, an subsequently an A7S3 and a Leica M10D. I still have my old cameras. I have to concur that the 50r is something rather special. I would have a tough job deciding between the Sony’s and the 50r though, because, while I think the 50r is more enjoyable, and has given me my best images to date, I think the Sony’s are better ‘all rounders’. It would be a really tough decision for me to make. The AF on the 50r let’s it down as an all rounder, but I almost exclusively use the 50r on a tripod and in manual focus, so the AF does not worry me most of the time. If I’m going to shoot a subject where AF, IBIS or long lenses would be beneficial, then I grab the Sony. For nigh on everything else, I grab the 50r.

    • @thelazyphotographer4761
      @thelazyphotographer4761 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well I have to say you can't go wrong wit your decision. However, I will add that I have used the 100s to photograph indoor basketball, and outdoor baseball games with the 100-200 5.6. I tried the same with the 50r but it's not really meant of that and the slow rate of 3FPS just doesn't work. The 100s has about 5FPS, and with the cropping ability it's fantastic. I either use it, or most times I grab my XH1, battery grip, and the 50-140 2.8 for indoor, or the 55-200 for outdoor shots. Thank you for writing in!

    Nice to see that some others are still using X-T1. I haven't seen one quite as battered looking as yours. I have one which I still use in spite of also having an X-T2 and a X-H1. I am a careful amateur, so mine does not look so worn as yours. Just a small point of detail: I think I heard you say that you bought yours in 2012. The X-T1 was officially released on 27 January 2014.

      YES! You are correct. I purchased the X-T1 in Feb 2014. In 2012 was my first foray into the mirrorless world with the X-E1 which I purchased with the 18-55 and the 35mm 1.4. Thank you for pointing my error out! And I had to laugh at the "battered" comment. You should see my '74 Minolta SRT101 and my 1978 Minolta X-E7! My X-T1 looks like out of the box new compared to those. The X-T1 does roll around unintentionally in my vehicle as it's always with me. Thanks again

    I have two of them in immaculate condition I traded a Nikon D750 in for. Not one complaint. Well…maybe autofocus not the greatest, but it’s a nitpick really. Beautiful images, plenty of resolution at 16MP and my f2 lenses are spectacular for my purposes. I haven’t yet seen a reason to upgrade to the newer bodies aside from image stabilization. The X-T1 offers images that just have something special. I can’t put a finger on it, but I see a difference with my eyes as compared to Nikon full frame images from the D750.
