Things I Love About Lightburn Episode 2

Lightburn’s text function is super intuitive and automatically joins letters into one continuous shape, but sometimes a font needs a little tweaking. This is quick and easy to do using the node editing. In this video I’ll show you just how simple it can be to fix a problem word.

That's a really lovely result, well done. I've not played with resin yet (so decide for yourself how large a pinch of salt you should take with this advice) but have seen a whole bunch of videos, mainly on making live edge river tables. The technique I have seen used to prevent excessive bubbling from wood is to brush on a thin coat of resin to seal the surface of the wood, then once that is cured, use the flood fill and hopefully the bubble problem should be largely eliminated.

I have a question. I think I used the wrong font on some acacia wood? I'm going to find out if the customers okay? If I'm able to fill it in, can I burn over it?

When planning to use resin, don't cut all the way through the wood - then you won't have to worry about any backing.

What watt laser do you use?

Great job. Thanks for this tutorial. I attended a week long encaustic wax painting art class last year and one of the things the teacher mentioned was to apply heat first (we used a torch but a heat gun works of course) to go over all the surface of the wood before adding the heated encaustic wax so that it would release most of the trapped gas in porus wood. Otherwise bubbles could come up through the wax similar to what you experienced. I would suggest doing that right before you are ready to pour your final clear coating epoxy. :-) Also I would suggest blowing through a straw to get rid of the bubbles when they do appear due to the gas issue and regular bubbles that appear from mixing resin. :-)

“Mom, why do the tongue depressors taste like Resin but smell like....hickory???” “Shut up Timmy, you know we don’t waste....I had to BORROW the depressors from the first aid kit for my sign project... Besides, I wiped them down with the paper towels I saved from last weeks’ family BBQ when I was done. They’ll be fine! Now stick your tongue back out and say ahhhhh” 😂

Someone suggested using duct tape to remove the masking. Rub on over the masking and pull off. Great for small pieces of masking
