Bacterial Infection in Dogs & Cats
มุมมอง 465 หลายเดือนก่อน
Quite often we see dogs and cats with bacterial skin infections. Most of the time, this is related to an allergy. Skin changes because of the allergy, and bacteria start to overgrow. Sometimes the infection begins looking like little red dots and you may think these are insect bites or pimples. It is possible to address the infection and the allergy and relieve the symptoms for your pet.
Yeast infection
มุมมอง 315 หลายเดือนก่อน
Some dogs with skin allergies will have yeast infections on their skin. If a dog with allergies tends to have oily skin, they will most likely develop a year infection. The yeast intensifies the severity of the itching. We often see yeast infections on feet near the nail bed. Antibiotics won't treat a yeast infection. We do have a treatment option available for yeast and sometimes these dogs ne...
Reverse sneeze
มุมมอง 1045 หลายเดือนก่อน
Ever experienced your dog reverse sneeze? It sounds startling but the "schnorking" passes quickly. This happens more often in smaller dogs and short-nosed breeds like pugs. What causes this odd noise is sinus drainage! This behavior happens for them to clear their nose mucus much like when we grab a tissue.

How Often to Bathe a Pet with Allergies

How Often to Bathe a Pet with Allergies
Question as a rescuer: I don’t give the dogs or cats baths in dawn, but I do make a water mix with it and dip a flea comb in it before I brush it through each time. There have been several times I have had to use a different option due to not having Dawn on hand. When I re-dip to get the fleas off the comb, the other options take 30 seconds to a minute to kill the fleas, whereas the dawn mix kills them on contact. Could you explain why that is? And if what I’m am currently doing is okay since I’m not giving baths in it?
❤
I went to the ER because I have thought I was having an allergic reaction to the antibiotic I was taking for pneumonia. Come to find out it’s poison ivy. The doctor told me to take a Dawn bath and to give my dogs Dawn bath to get rid of the oils from the poison ivy. I’m very skeptical about giving my dog a bath in Dawn because I’m afraid I’m going to irritate their skin. I will call my vet and ask her recommendation
Thank you! i’ve been trying to tell people this on Facebook who advise others to use Dawn to bath their dogs for fleas. I believe the reason for the wide circulation of this myth is the company’s opportunistic marketing. After their impressive results cleaning wildlife from the well publicized Alaskan Oil Spill. They smartly added a wild baby duck 🦆 to their label. Everyone who buys the highly advertised product, sees this label that reminds them of that shocking incident and Dawn to the rescue! Like you said it may be fine for a onetime emergency degrease, but folks have taken it way too far!
This is hilarious. They made those commercials so long ago and like 20 years later people are still using it as pet shampoo 🤣
thank you ❤
What about human shampoo in a pinch.?
I have been struggling on how to read the back of fish oil for my dog. You in 3 minutes have explained exactly what I have been wondering for a long time. You even explained better then the vet I go to. I have a 75lb lab/mix. Thank you for time and an easy explanation!!
Thank you for this information. I have a 25lbs GoldenDoodle and didn’t know how much to give him.
I just want to make sure that my cat does not have cancer
Pills
What if they want to taste white vinegar, she loves the taste
Thank you for easing my mind and putting me at ease. I was concerned for my new puppy.
my dog has a long history of allergy. She had the injection and within 2 hours it worked. Her fur is now growing back. Amazing
my cat has a food allergy am has been on a prscription hydrolyzed food (zd) but he is still reacting to it and he cant get steroid shot because he has a heart condition where can i find this handout?
Same for my sphynx. I’m now trying Hills d/d with Duck and green pea. So far his explosive diarrhoea seems to be gone (fingers crossed that it will stay that way). He’s still scratching but apparently that takes way longer to resolve. I’ve tried so many foods, it’s maddening. I hope you have found something that works for your kitty by now.
My kitten is also on z/d. Kept vomiting previous foods. I'm trying ruling out proteins and see later on. Just confirming tolerance of z/d for now. He hasn't vomited for 2 weeks so far
@JerneyMarisha my black kitty Steve was rescued recently and has a food allergy. I'm going to start him on a z/d diet soon and record his progress. I hope this works. He's in bad shape.
@@RandyH524 Poor baby. It’s hard to see them suffer huh… If the z/d doesn’t work (It didn’t for Vlad), try the d/d. it’s the only thing working for now. His stool is finally starting to get more solid. I really hope it sticks, I’ve been trying so many foods for almost a year now.
Try Cetirizine, which is an antihistamine. It's called Zyrtec in pharmacies. Not the Zyrtec-D though, as this contains a decongestant, which they can't have. Just the plain Zyrtec. Half a tablet around the same time every day. Check with your vet first.
We just got our dog the Bortetella oral 2 days ago, and now he has goopy, mushy stool, could this be a side effect?
How about skin tags by the groin area?? What would be the Cause and my response to it?
Could you please send me the schedule?
I have not received my medication that I ordered on on the 12/08/23
Hey 👋 YALL LOVE FROM SOUTH CAROLINA
My cat had 2 kittens, one just died today because of distemper after suffering for few days and the other one is not responding well, they were just 1.5 months old and not big enough for vaccination, sshe was the sweetest kitten I've come across so far and she loved humans, i tried really hard yo save her but she gave up atlast ❤
One of my cats went to the vet for cut and came back six days later all my cats all 9 are very very sick. Eyes coughing lethargic not much appetite. Miserable. I’m in the woods with no neighbors and no one comes or goes. Had to been the vet.
Can cats get distemper even if they’re vaccinated? I’ve heard dogs can.
Yes
Hi Dr. Bob! Ophelia comes to you for her vaccinations at McCoy Feed. Unfortunately, Ophelia is still trying to recover from a bad case of pneumonia that stemmed from the outbreak. She went to a HALF day of doggie daycare on October 3rd and was very sick within 3 days. The original round of antibiotics didn't help at all. I ended up having to take her to an Animal ER & she spent 2.5 days in an oxygen cage. It was heartbreaking. She is still on 2 different kinds of very strong antibiotics & steroids. However, the only improvement I've seen so far is that her breathing is getting a little better. She is still very lethargic and quickly runs out of breath just walking across a room. Thank you for sharing this video and we will be sure to take up on that new vaccine!!
Hi I bing taking my dogs to Huntersville place how come is no Dr there all the time? Thank you
Hello! There is always a veterinarian at our events.
What an adorable dog! ❤️
hi Dr. Bob, my dog is experiencing itching and redness on her belly and hind legs. What do I do? I'm waiting to bring her to the clinic.
Hi Marcia, I can email you some articles to help with strategies. Wiping those areas with a cool washcloth may help! -Laura
Thank you Laura. That will help.

How about the rabies vaccine because my cat is an indoor cat so I don’t see the need for it. How is she going to get rabies. She doesn’t even want to go outside she’s a big chubby female cat
“Hi Carlin, great question! Rabies is a human health hazard and is required by law. Even though your kitty is inside, if there was ever an incident with a bite or any unfortunate exposure to an animal that could transmit rabies, your county would follow their health department procedures regarding quarantine for your pet. Each county health director sets their protocol. With that in mind, we do recommend pet owners keeps rabies vaccine up to date.
Rabies is extremely rare you should allow your cat to go outdoors its called a catflap idk why so many americans keep their cats trapped inside all their lives!? I've had outdoor cats all my life my last cat passed away at the age of 18 she lived a long happy life.
Yes!! Very informative! Thank you!
Thanks you for the information. Very helpful this video.. Thank-you Dr.
What about cats? What gives them the most benefit?
Is there a particular wet cat food you recommend?
Just got my girl vaccinated yesterday. She's a little drowsy from it today, but it's for the best. My vet told me that exact same story about the indoor cat, and for only $16, it seems very much worth avoiding. However, he didn't clarify it was a three-year deal-- I thought it was a yearly vax. So thanks for the information.
So the vaccine is no help?
That is so sad!! Thanks for the info!
Thank you!!
