Recording with Tascam M-520 & MS-16
มุมมอง 1.6K2 ปีที่แล้ว
I acquired these minty machines last year and finally got them installed in my studio. Other than testing, this is the first time I’ve had a chance to record with them. The M-520 is a 20 channel console and is the heart of my studio. The MS-16 is a 1” 16-track audio tape reel to reel multi-track recorder. They are both circa 1985-86 and were purchased together when new and lived in the same stu...

Test of my vintage Frontalini power organ for sale to a buyer on Reverb.com. I'll miss it, so cute!

Frontalini Organ 1

A 60's Frontalini Organ. It sounds like an accordion without the bellows. It has an electric fan inside that does the "air" work. Fun to play with 12 key counter bass and 37 key treble.
My first accordion -- Skating!

I just started playing accordion. I picked a children's toy first off ebay but then started talking with the seller out of Philadelphia about what I was wanting to do. Liberty Bellows helped me out with a very inexpensive but VERY old Hohner from the 40s or 50s. It's old and shotty looking but they got it tuned and refurbed enough for my needs. The song is Skating from the Palmer-Hughes Accordi...

Did you record at el parral
I’d love to see more of the desk . Looks great . I just picked up a tascam myself
The desk was made by Don Hawkins in Jenks, OK. He has them listed on ebay, but will custom build to fit your console and configure the sides with racks or storage how you like.
@@littlebluefoxstudio I’ll check into that. I’m actually in Oklahoma, so that’s awesome . I’ll check his listings
Hey patrick! I just repaired my m-520 to working condition. Do you notice that you dont have any low mids/ bass until you turn the eq on? Thanks!
What kind of rack is that MS-16 in? Also, could you do a demo on how to Bias this machine? Just got one and I'm loving it! Thanks!
Very nice 👍
👍Nice setup 🤛… like mine…I use NS 10’s
I have one of these with a couple notes that stick open and continue to play. I'm currently trying to figure out how to open it up to see what the matter is.
Hey Patrick, I have a chance to get a M-520. At the end of the day, would you recommend getting one?
I love my M-520! It’s the heart of my studio. It’s no Neve, MCI or SSL board but I think it’s got a great warm analog sound and is so very versatile and can be configured to fit almost any studio setting or need! I got mine for $150 in near mint, but it’s old and I had a little work to do getting the pots and sliders cleaned, recapped a few channels and a few other minor things, I was lucky!
@@littlebluefoxstudio haven’t had a chance to look through more of your videos but I’d love to hear recorded tracks through your mixer! Non phone or camera audio I mean. Since you opened it up to do some cleaning, do you know what type of transformers it uses? I was thinking of swapping some out to try different tones
Probably no transformer here, opamp everywhere
a masterpiece!!
Did you add the Bigsby by yourself? If so, how did you do it?
According to the instructions, simple
Where'd you get.the bridge?
joshua rugg It’s a custom made Marc Rutter chopped bridge. ruttersguitars.com
Pickups?
They are gretsch pickups, not TV Jones. I don't remember what models they were, sorry. hope that helps!
Patrick Burnett maybe high sensitive gretsch pickups, thanks
Thanks and yes, I currently have a Russian Garmoshka button accordion. Although it sounds OK, it's not the "one" for me. I'm going to piano style and believe it will better suit me as I am still a beginner Accordionist.
this little 1940s Hohner cost $195. Although it plays and sounds well enough, this is considered to be cheap for an accordion. My Castiglione is about 40 years old and cost me $650, still considered to be on the lower end and cheap. Most pro accordions run $2000 and up! Hope this answers your question and helps.
Very inexpensive = ? if I may ask.
Thanks! I have now graduated to a near mint Castiglione 120 Bass 2/4 Reed 41 Key model in Red and Cream Pearloid! Except for it being cumbersome to travel with and carry, I love it! Now if I can just carve out more practice time! Thanks for your videos!
