See the movie. Whitney is playing a character "like herself" and and pulls off the acting. And vocally she is as good as it gets. As a "new" soundtrack at the time, not a stage play adaptation. As good as any recorded voice ever, and this soundtrack is 10, her performance of it is a 10.

she would have kept playing drums if she didnt have the greatest vioce that ever lived. I think goodbye to love was their greatest song. i lot of their songs in concert became part of a medley, but they never chopped this one. the were slandered for pûtting a heavy guitar solo in it. richard was a genius in his own right. the carpenters will live on forever
