How far do you ship and what is the price?
Awesome commentary! You’re a natural. You should be doing color analyst for the Canucks! I live in the Midwest but if I was anywhere close to BC I’d be going to your store. Thanks for the info!
DEAR TRUMP VOTERS: Your $4,000 Blaze King Stove will now cost you $5,000. Happy now?
Haha, I love it. I loved to see my hubby split wood, and he used a big orange splitting maul to split rounds too. I'm not too keen on Macho males at all, but you don't come off that way. Humor is good, and you I like!
Haha - I just burned some plywood construction wood with nails and all in my Ozburn. But I just swapped it for a Blaze King Ashford. I didnt like the Ozburn sound - its steel not cast iron. Expand contract, the clicking noise! Also I was putting a stick of wood in once an hour. However, I do miss the pretty brass door of the Ozburn. Also, the roaring fire. I have heard the Blaze King has a very low profile of flames. But, very happy that I will use so much less wood, and no more feeding the fire so often.
Thanks so much! I have a brand new Blaze King Ashford 20.2, and just did my second break in fire. Had noticed the wood not burning well, or so it seemed. Just not getting robust flames. Thanks for letting me know that is a feature not a problem. I love the roaring fire look, but I'm pragmatic. I want heat! The stove has a small learning curve, which I am doing fine on, but I am so ready to use less firewood and wake up to coals in the firebox, and know my stove is less polluting. Great video.
Weird
I've had a Princess cat stove for 20 years and everything you said is exactly on point. I heat primarily with wood in Canada and I'm on my 3rd cat, the most recent one is a steel cat and it works so much better than the ceramic ones.
Any chance of getting a video of the 1700 running? Is the ash-hole cover available on the 1700 🤣? Great informative video, thanks!
@@Mr.Snowboard my pleasure, let me see if i can track a running video down. Yes the ash hole cover comes with the stove is really only removed to clean the stove! Cory c
I've had a Princess since 2004. Never did any maintenance on the cat. Burn from November to mid April, never goes out. Replaced the cat twice in twenty years, mainly just because I thought I should. We burn nothing but pine (all we can get), usually about a year old. I clean the chimney once a year in summer and get about one to two cups of soot. Usually, around Christmas, I climb up and clean the soot off the cap. Replace the door gasket about every other year, and the bypass gasket around every five years. Other than that...nothing. Empty ash at the end of the burning season.
you seriously remove your cat about once a month, maybe more if you notice discoloration? and replace with a new gasket every time?
no i may have not been clear in the video. i clean it every 4-6 weeks unless i notice an issue. maybe pull it once a season or two.
I want to get the King 40 and my home is 2300 sq ft. Do you think it would be too big? Princess instead? I prefer to go bigger but based on what you said about “too big…creosote ..” I’d like to get your professional opinion
If the home is newer and the stove is in a fully finished insulated space it would be adequate running a princess. if not and the stove is in a basement or its an older home a king may be more appropriate. is this a retrofit or a new install? as the king has a 8” chimney and can be more costly and complicated to install due to the added pipe size and clearances. always available for a call to chat more about it. ask for Cory 250-871-7555
This is just the info I needed. It’s a new install, but my house was built in ‘64 and has bad insulation so looks like it’s time for the king. Thanks so much for the reply. And great videos.
I have a YS 1500s I’m considering selling. It’s just to big.
it is a monster! maybe the 640 is more appropriate!
Where ya located?
Puppy... ugh
Too many variables for me. Looks like different qualities of wood and wood types would play a major factor in having to dial this thing in. I want to build a fire get it rolling and forget it. I’ll just keep bucking wood to my 30-nc. It helps keep my aging body in Shape
different wood plays a small factor. and there is no other woodstove in the world that cuts the amount of wood your burn down like a blaze king!
I hate my Osborn insert
sorry to hear that, for what reason?
My blazeking stove door does not open very wide and I burn my leg on it. How can I fix that???
what model do you have most open to about 120 degrees from the face of the stove is that about right?
They come with instructions for a reason all you have to do is read them 😊
Read and studied my manual, underlining with highlighter lol, but it didn't mention how to work the bypass, or the fact there would not be a nice amount of flames. Between the installer and this video, my questions are answered. I think the manual needs a little more info, especially regarding working the Bypass lever.
Thank you for this video! My husband loved our Blaze King for supplemental heat; he was the firemaster. He passed away a month ago and I'm grieving AND trying to figure out how to use the woodstove. You've made my life easier at a very difficult time.
my condolences and glad i could help!
Fk I'd never Ever own a Catalytic stove again- no thank you. Osburn 2000, 3500 such a better running stove- not picky will burn Anything- even wet or damp wood, no problem.
absolutely for no fuss Osburn takes it!
Why even mess with any stove that has a catalyst. I had to replace mine too on another brand, and cost hundreds of dollars. You can get a wonderful Lopi Liberty stove with no catalyst, and it burns hot and will give you all the heat output without the catalyst system. When the catalyst is starting to degrade, you will put up with it because you know ity's expensive to replace. So for several months you will put up with a less than optimal stove. Why set yourself up for that? You can still get a high eficiency stove with lot of heat output and avoid the catalyst problems. Lopi Liberty is what I've lived with for over 12 years now, and if it ever goes stovebelly up, I will buy another one.
glad you found one that works for you!
I've had this stove since March of 2024. At first I was thrilled, it truly does put out a lot of heat. But as I've learned to live with it, the design flaws really come to light. First off is the catalytic converter. It is a simple rectangle of folded metal that sits in a sled. The silver wire handle you see at the top of the stove is how you slide the sled in and out of the chimney. There is a gasket around the top of the sled, and this gasket quickly wears out and begins catching on the opening and making it more and more difficult and eventually impossible to move the sled. Twice now I've had to fuss and fidget until I could get it pulled out enough to remove the piece of gasket that comes out of the sled and tangles into a knot. It's also a very clumsy way to engage/disengage the converter. It has to be left out until the stove meets a certain temperature, shown by a little dial on the side of the chimney. This means that the whole time you're loading the stove and it's warming up, that stupid handle is sticking out into your living space, and is constantly in the way when loading the stove. The sled channels also get out of whack over time and even if the gasket isn't stuck, the sled becomes very difficult to use. It's a very poor design. I had this stove professionally installed, and went to them with the problems on the sled. It took over a week for Hearthstone to respond to their call about it, and when they did, it turns out this is a known problem and there's some sort of retro-fit kit available. Unfortunately, they still haven't shipped that to my dealer and it's been three weeks now. That's the second red flag, that the company can't be bothered to provide good customer service to a dealer that sells their stoves. Thirdly, don't believe that this stove will burn 16" logs. It has a very tiny firebox. Yes, you can get a 16" log in, if the stove is empty and you put it in at an angle. But if there are any coals built up, or partial logs in place, forget about it, it's not going to happen. Fourth, there is a baffle, that looks and feels like a piece of drywall crossed with a bit of cement board, that forms the top of the interior firebox. The firebox is so very small that it's almost impossible to load without bumping into that baffle. Even though I have been very careful, the baffle broke and fell into the firebox after about three months of use. I couldn't get a hold of anyone at Hearthstone, but was able to find the correct baffle on the jungle website for about 50 bucks. All that said, I do use the stove as the primary heat source for my home. It keeps the main living area warm and I can leave the furnace turned down, or off, depending on the weather, so it has saved me a lot of money in natural gas. I've adapted my wood cutting and splitting to make small splits no more than 14" long, which has alleviated a lot of frustration with normal sized logs. It is easy to clean out with a small coal shovel, and if using good seasoned wood, it produces a lot of heat. The soap stone sides continue to radiate warmth for a while after the fire goes out. So if you have a source of smaller firewood, and can live with the catalytic converter problems, this is a good little stove.
i appreciate this input, the service surprises me generally service would be through a dealer and the distributor would communicate to the manufacturers for quicker service. where are you located? agree with you this unit really is for sublimenting heat.
@@cameroncontractingltd I'm in the Midwest. I am working with the dealer that sold me the stove, and did the installation work. He has been great to work with. It's Hearthstone that is not responsive to him. Like the manufacturer isn't willing to communicate or stand behind their product without a lot of prodding from the dealer.
@@JanewayEPC sorry to hear that. may be a different service avenue in the states! best of luck with the issue and bringing it to our attention!
I have the Princess 32 and heats 1600sf with no problem and even though I don’t see a fire it still works well and using seasoned wood is a plus!
I have a blaze King Princess and in just over 2 seasons I have catalyst problems .The temps here in winter swing all over the place so it is tricky to operate it. This information me will help me going forward. Many thanks.
Great information. Many thanks.
Ive had a blaze king princess for approx 10 years. It has been our only heat source on our 2 story home, except when we leave for multiple days. Then our furnace gets turned on. My stove is in my basement with insulated walls and no vents going upstairs. Our winters get cold and it heats the house well. Even in subzero temps. Ive found mood heats and burns best at 12-14% moisture content. My wood is never that wet i can only take dead trees from my cutting spot. But I still get 15- 18 hr burn times min. I have to go out my basement wall and above the second story roof and used to have issues of loosing draft if running stove low. But I purchased a draft inducing cap and never an issue. I am back to burning on 1 to 1 1/2 setting and having the whole house comfortable. I swear by this stove! Id love to put one in my cabin but don't think they make one small enough.
glad to hear it this is the normal experience with Blaze king! hard to think about anything else after your use to the long burn times! thank you!
Really wish you would highlight the 950, i recently installed one and it will not burn very good after door is shut no matter how big a fire i get going, i shut the door and it literally shuts down, yes i have the damper open, and its got the fresh air system connected!!!!
have you talked to your dealer something is not right if this is the case? how is your chimney installed?
@@cameroncontractingltd I did contact the seller and installer, apparently my wood was a little wetter than supposed to be. I also found out a mind blowing fact from osburn, the fact that the damper isn't designed to shut off air completely, I found that unbelievable!! Take two days for this thing to go completely out!!
New Blazeking owner here and we are still figuring it out. Question though- is it normal for some CO to seep out when its burning so low? We had the fireplace company to check for any leaks and he noted that when burning low he was picking up CO levels of 1-2 ppm, which isn't a lot but I am worried it will just build up considering it's a slow burning stove. We will be contacting Blazeking ourselves but given the holidays, I am sure I won't get a hold of them anytime soon. Sooooo any info would help. Thx!
yes if your burning to low the temperature may hit a point it is not drawing enough. the solution is to bump the temperature up a bit. healthier for the stove to burn hotter as well!
How easy is it to replace the thermostat. I know over time those things end up degrading and not being accurate.
pretty rare, however your are correct it does happen. very easy replacement. couple screw sealant and 20 minuites. i can do a video on this as well to help out. check your warranty as well if you’ve had a an issue its likely covered,
Blaze grills suck. The diffusers don’t spread heat evenly and cause constant flareups. Buyer beware.
certainly not with my experience. sorry to hear your not happy with it what model do you have?
I’m in northern Ohio with a ranch just under 1300 sq foot what blaze king would you recommend?
if the home is new, I would recommend a 20 series, sirocco, ashford, chinook. if its an older home I would recommend a 30 series. you'll get a larger firebox meaning longer burn times. feel free to call our office with any questions we would be happy to join you in the right direction. 250-871-7555
Use caution when buying the stove, my catalytic engagement system failed the gasket, dislodge from the combustor cradle and jam. The handle either poor quality control or bad design yet to be determined.
This was on a brand new stove, only three weeks old and it’s third burn not good
Have you had any issues with blowback from the fire randomly starting if it's windy and it does a mini explosion and some wood gas gets out? It happens to me sometimes.
no, I have not experienced this. confirming when this happens you have the bypass door open before open the door?
@cameroncontractingltd it happens when the bypass is closed after the flame dies down completely and the catalyst is glowing.
You want to figure that out and run it correctly where it doesn't do that. My stove does that when running hot and not enough air flow.
love my blaze king classic 40hr burn stove. I hate when it's time to sweep the chimney. the cat combustion chamber collects all the kreasode from sweeping instead of falling into burn chamber. this can then cause secondary door from sealing when closed causing a smokey chimney.
yes it is recommended to remove the stove pipe to avoid this from happening. best of luck
Ha are you serious mate a Morso 2b stove in your showroom.
for sure it is! what's you issue with a 2B?
This video is really cementing the idea of me getting a stockton.... only thing is that those cannot be easy to move, even on level ground.
amazing! they are tanks I deliver them with a crane most of the time!
@@cameroncontractingltdi can imagine. That thing weighs 1200 pounds as is. I dont think you can move it fully assembled without a winch doing the work
I can imagine, that thing weighs about 1200 pounds. Even fully assembled, youd probably need a winch to move it.@@cameroncontractingltd
We have had a king for 25 years, experienced others... King runs for days when dialed down. I wish I had know more about preventing flashover! Launched the chimney off the stove early on. Nearing time to replace the firebricks. Would not own any other stove.
wow i bet that was exciting! appreciate the input.
Love the looks and efficiency of these. What stove would you recommend for us? We have a square 8x8 hemlock cabin about 1500ft2. Can't wait to get one of these beasties
you borderline 20/30 series. im always a blaze king princess fan bast size for value. but price point is a bit better with the sirocco. 20/30 feel free to call my offices with any questions and we can point you in the right direction. 250-871-7555
This is hilarious!!! I wish you guys were in Pennsylvania…. I’d buy from you. Great video thank you for the laughs!!! :)
Our pleasure! appreciate it!
Respect from USA 🇺🇸 thank you for the Can-AM and Ski-Doo
Are those side shields removable? They block a lot of the radiant heat. Not many true radiant stoves anymore.
they are, however certainly not recommended and any rule of thumb in Canada is if it is not as per manufacturer intended install. 48” is required to combustibles. to get a clear wett inspection. the heat shield are intended to be installed per manual. hope this helps.
It is interesting. I certainly do not need to see a blazing fire, and have been in houses heated with the old Jotul Norwegian stoves that have no glass in them at all. That was in Norway. Long burn time is the most important for me, and the icing on the cake is a clean burn, which the old Jotuls did not really manage burning very slowly. I do wonder about the lifespan of the catalyser. I expect anything I might instal would outlive me by now, but it seems a shame that a whole stove might be obsolete for the lack of spares in ten or twenty years. The old Jotul lasted a lifetime, and even for generations. In the 1970s these old Jotuls had been installed pre-1914, but have been replaced now with cleaner burning appliances. Thanks for an interesting video. Best wishes from George in UK
A heaping wheel barrel full lasts a week? About 3.3333 cord a winter? That's a face cord I would guess?
thats exactly what I burn in my princess yes.
Fantastic. With my old OzburnI was going throughthat amount every 3 days or so. Looking at my woodshed hoping to make it through April...and every hr. I had to put a piece of wood in. Just got a BK Ashford 20.2. You have been a big help in getting the process down. @@cameroncontractingltd
Whatever guy. Your too much inti yourself. I noticed tge ladies you were trying ti impress were not impressive at all so the bar is low.

I put a new Blaze King in our new home in 2014. I don't like it. It doesn't draft well and I never use the stupid catalytic which by the way hangs down from the top of the firebox and interferes every time you load a log. We also have a couple mountain cabins with the old '80's style Blaze Kings and they're 10 times better stoves. We do use the new one and learned to adjust to it's shortcomings but If I ever replace it I'll do so with a NON catalytic stove.
If you would take the time to learn the stove you would use 2/3ds less wood to heat your home.
My Princess still smells really bad, I have tried to use it and the smell makes me dizzy, I have asthma, many have said the paint is still not cured , I have had maybe 6 small burns that lasted 8 or so hours. Any suggestions would be welcomed.
I suggest opening all your doors and windows and getting it hot. a fire that’s not hot enough will not allow the paint to cure fully. a good hot fire for a couple hours will set the paint in and should never do it again. best of luck!
We replaced our Blaze King Princess after a year. It would puff out smoke in the middle of a burn. It seemed to be coming from the thermometer area? I read all the forums for answers. Door seal being the most common answer to the problem. We couldn't resolve the issue with all the solutions provided. We had an outside air intake. It was a great stove for the long overnight and day burns but our lungs couldn’t take the smoke in the house. Eventually we were running air purifiers in every room. This was our second Blaze King so we knew how to operate it.
it sounds like a draft issue, or a low pressure in the home. a hotter fire may solve this or being mindful when its turned down for longer burning the bathroom fans kitchen fans can cause this sort of thing in a modern home. even windy weather can cause this with a fresh air intakes, they are not ideal unless absolutely required
We recently moved from northern NY to just north of Fairbanks Alaska and OMG does it get cold here! It's early November and we haven't been above freezing for the past three weeks. Our 2,800 sqft house has a 10 yr old BK Princess. This is our first cat stove and I'm so glad I found this video. Lots of little tips that are very helpful. While we would like to watch flames we now appreciate the glowing red cat instead because of how efficient it is working. Again, thanks for this video! well done.
glad your loving the stove! enjoy!
I’m considering buying a 1700 pedestal model, do they just have one air lever?
awsome! they are one of our most popular, yes just the one air control! feel free to give my team a call if you need anything or questions answered! Cory Cameron. 250-941-7555
I cannot for the life of me find out what the interior bottom middle block in the middle of the bricks is for?
Ok, I prematurely asked that! Lol so moving right along.. does it need to stay in to plug the hole while burning wood?
yes for sure you woudnt want burning ash to drop into the ash drawer. it is the ash hole to clean out the stove if required!
@@cameroncontractingltd Thanks! Just got this new wood stove and never had this type before. I felt better to look silly than to cause a 🔥 🏠🙂
Our Blaze King Princess is 20 years old… just replaced the original ceramic catalytic combustor today. No cracks or crumblings… just not as efficient as it used to be.
