I think as a fellow traveller, you need to develop a nose for this type of things, who to trust and whatnot, I like to engage in a conversation for a few mins first before engaging in anything, if you're a good judge of character, at least for me but I'm a man I understand it's not the same but I never had nothing happen to me. There is definitively areas or places where you should know or feel to be careful, just listen to your instincts and you'll be ok. Having a neutral positive attitude helps a lot too

I think at the end of the day, most people in the world want to be helpful to those around them. Maybe 1 in a thousand or ten thousand people might be actively trying to cause harm. Travel long enough and you will encounter them. They might scam you, or steal your gear. The question comes in how you respond to that. Does it make you see the world as a dangerous and scary place, or do you still end up seeing the goodness in the world on the whole? I've been stalked through Tokyo streets by a guy that I thought was going to rob me, and I have had my bag that I left in a restaurant with my gear and wallet returned to me without anything missing. I have been called a fucking gaijin when I asked someone for directions, and I have someone else take the time to walk with me through the city for 30+ minutes just to make sure I found a shop I was looking for. Anthony Bourdain wrote: "Before I set out to travel this world, 12 years ago, I used to believe that the human race as a whole was basically a few steps above wolves.That given the slightest change in circumstances, we would all, sooner or later, tear each other to shreds. That we were, at root, self-interested, cowardly, envious and potentially dangerous in groups. I have since come to believe - after many meals with many different people in many, many different places - that though there is no shortage of people who would do us harm, we are essentially good.That the world is, in fact, filled with mostly good and decent people who are simply doing the best they can. It's crazy how close these cities are to each other because of the High-Speed Rail. Where do you go and what do you visit when you're in these places?

@@SaltyCheeks I go for work near GZ, soft goods and luggage industry. On the weekends I take the bullet train to HK or SZ and just wander around solo, never really made any plans. But I did some similar hikes in HK, beaches, bars and just anything that catches my eye. I'm also from OC and know almost zero Mandarin or Cantonese, just adds to the fun lol.

You should get a car instead to there!! Board rental for sure u can find one but depends on how picky you are. If u want for sure to score some waves, I will suggest to actually get a surf guide if u have the budget due to language barrier and short time frame

I will love to visit Puerto Rico it’s actually my dream to go there but when I search online, seems like more family go there due to you have to rent a house and also have cars 🥹
