I was saved from the certainty of going to hell because someone cared enough to share with me the gospel. First through Isaiah 53 God used to bring me under conviction that Jesus Christ had shed His blood as the sinless Lamb of God for my sins. The following week I went to that young man's church and went forward at the end of the service. He then showed me the Roman's Road and I confirmed each point that I believed it. I was led in a "sinner's prayer" phrase by phrase. You can doubt if you want, but God saved me and cleansed all my sins DURING that brief prayer literally in under a minute. The thing that mattered was I was sincere in my desire to be saved and I KNEW I was lost and on my way to hell, but that Christ had paid my price for my sins on the cross when He shed His blood for my sins. Btw, all of the above things I just mentioned have been under attack for YEARS. In fact, even many otherwise good Baptist churches will not give an altar call. I'd be in hell right now if there was no invitation that day almost beyond any shadow of a doubt. The sinner's prayer or "calling upon the name of the Lord" is also attacked. Yes, I REALLY got saved by being led to pray AFTER I affirmed I believed the gospel of Christ as presented to me. It WORKED. That was over 47 years ago!
