Democracy in Peril?
What can we expect from Trump’s second term as president of the United States? How could our academic work be affected? What’s to be learned from historical precedents and similar developments in other countries? And: Is the US democracy in peril?
Four UCR scholars from Political Science, History, and Sociology will discuss these and other questions in a conversation organized by the Being Human Initiative at the Center for Ideas and Society. Please join us for an open discussion with John Cioffi, Kelechi Kalu, Michele Salzman, and Steven Brint.

Divesting from Apartheid: Continuity, Difference, and Historical Lessons Roundtable
มุมมอง 1.2K6 หลายเดือนก่อน
Through the 1980s, campuses throughout the United States and internationally were the sites of a student-led movement for boycott, divestment and sanctions against South Africa’s apartheid regime, a campaign called for by South Africa’s African National Congress (ANC). In many cases, anti-apartheid campaigns conjoined with demands for an end to “apartheid on campus” as students contested racial...

You did good job, Emily !
Thank you so much! ❤
Heterosexual women are the majority, they should fight for themselves. Also heterosexual woman are the oppressors of lesbians so no, y'all need to prove yourselves as allies not us lesbians. Lesbians are homosexual, we don't reject our attraction to men, we don't have any. The truth is heterosexual woman are lazy feminist and won't do much to fight for their cause.

Seeing billionaires like Michael Jordan, Dr. Dre, and Oprah do practically nothing to help the black community is proof that being part of an under-represented racial group doesn't mean you will care about them. Jordan makes $200 million a year representing a global sweatshop exploiting people of color, and he is barely mentioned, much less criticized.

Propagandized is the past tense of propagandize.Conversations about words and meanings doesn’t feed, clothe, house or heal Palestinians.
It is impossible to follow your second speaker. She seems overwhelmed.
And your third. Etymology in personal reflection? Again, the question is not answered. I’m sorry. This isn’t defending a masters thesis. Is it?

This video showing full truthful evidence on what is going with Palestinians under Brutal Military's Occupation. Every honorable person and every soul around the planet connects to the truth by nature. US and Israeli propaganda who justifying crimes is no longer work as long as the voice of freedom is loud and never stop till free Palestine from occupation. God bless you all for your good work.
Excellent interview with astute questions!!! Thank you!!!
Boring white hating.
I legit didn’t even know we had recordings of Dubois.
He died in 63 . Crazy thing is people don't even realize that because they act like he died or disappeared after souls of black folks and that's because his politics became radical with work like black Reconstruction. That's my belief at least
**All Muslim Empire that Ruled Over Jerusalem were Colonialists who oversaw and enforced apartheid regimes** The Islamic conquest, colonization, and the systematic appropriation of Jewish holy sites underscore the complexities of history, often glossed over in mainstream narratives. Jerusalem's history is a rich and complex tapestry, with threads spanning centuries. Islamic empires governed the ancient city for 1,283 years, Jewish kings and leaders for 1,197 years, and Christian rulers during the Roman and Byzantine empires for 410 years. Throughout this long history, there has been no period of Palestinian governance. However, the Mamluks are the most interesting, given today's context. You see, the Mamluks are not Arabs and started out as slaves from Europe. They eventually managed to defeat their Ayyubids masters and went on to build a lasting empire that controlled Jerusalem for three centuries. The Mamluk's history profoundly challenges the perspectives of many pro-Palestinian advocates in two ways. A. This formidable group, which once held sway over Jerusalem, did not originate from the Levant. They hailed from distant lands across Europe-from the rugged terrains of the Caucasus to the expansive steppes of Central Asia and the diverse cultures of Eastern Europe-these young captives were captured or bought in slave markets, they were transported to the Mamluk Sultanate, converted to Islam, and trained as elite soldiers. B. The Mamluk period also challenges the notion of peaceful co-existence under Islamic rulers and the origins of many muslims in the levant region **The reality is only a small percentage of the Palestinians population are indigenous peoples of the Levant, the vast majority are from various groups that have migrated to or through the region over centuries, including during the Ottoman period. Literally they are a huge mix of Kurdish, Iraqis, North Africa, European (Yes, there are blond blue-eyed Palestinians), Arabs from Saudi Arabia, and Caucasian region.** Yes, many Palestinians are former European Slaves who were taken from their families in Europe and forced to convert to Islam. The "concept" of Palestinian people's being natives is patently false. Within the group of people that are now called Palestinians. There are many groups not related to each other at all due to the facts Jerusalem has exchanged hands so many times from empires that are not native to the land. The last 1,400 years have seen periods of Islamic rule, often marked by the relegation of Jews to dhimmi status. Despite this, the Jewish connection to their ancestral land remained unbroken, challenging narratives that paint them as modern-day colonists. The appropriation of Jewish holy sites and the enduring struggle for religious freedom under various rulers reflect the region's tumultuous past. Yet, the historical governance reveals Jews as natives, deeply intertwined with the land's fabric, not as colonial interlopers. It's time to revisit these narratives and recognize the indigenous Jewish presence in the region. Ignoring the historical facts of conquest and appropriation only fuels misinformation and division. Let's embrace the full spectrum of this history, acknowledging the deep roots of Jews in Jerusalem and challenging the misconceptions that undermine their indigenous status. #Indigenous #Truth th-cam.com/video/7GCXhKpoml0/w-d-xo.html…
A totally irrelevant and false narrative. You are fabricating a narrative to justify the usurpation of land from the Palestinian people.
Thank you for this!!
