11.25x20p over hub cleaver
I took this video last summer when I was testing out some props. It’s an 11x20p cleaver It ran great and had plenty of excellaration for an over hub . I didn’t have time to dial in properly.
I tested one a couple weeks back that had been pitched up to 21 and had a little bit of cup added. It ran awesome and did 96kph easy enough.
There a excellent little prop for the price of them

Breaking in the 50
มุมมอง 196หลายเดือนก่อน
I’ve put a couple hours on the 50 I rebuilt and gave it a couple quick squirts down the Logan this morning. I had the motor set low with the ronhill 18p 4 blade on. It’s got a lot of excellaration compared to 60 , but i reckon the gear ratio has a bit to do with it. Next time out I’ll try the 12x22 on it . It revs the forge 18p and the ronhill out to quick and I don’t want to rev it to hard jus...

I gave a mates a 11x21p cleaver a quick blast. It went excellent. I reckon it might give a 100kph a nudge set up right . I had the motor set pretty low to run my forge v2 .

Was out with a mate this morning and he took a video of us cruising along. This tinny rides along nice . I think was cruising along at 80kph and got up it towards the end Thanks again to Damien for taking the video
New project

I’m going to try a merc 50hp on the tinny to see how it handles with 10/12kg less hanging on the transom. I’m currently in the process of rebuilding it. The previous owner ran it lean and nipped up a couple of pistons.
Tried adding an inch of setback
มุมมอง 6223 หลายเดือนก่อน
I tried adding an extra inch of setback. This was before I fitted the transom mount water pickup. It averaged around 1.5/2kph better topend, but it porpoised at any speed under 50kph so I ended up changing it back to 4 inches because it’s a much better boat to drive set at 4 inches compared to 5.
12x22p blows out couldn’t handle the extra height
มุมมอง 1823 หลายเดือนก่อน
Was testing out the transom mount pick up . I had the motor maxed on the jack plate running 2 inches higher than I can run it with the standard gearbox pick ups. The prop blew out at about 75kph when I trimmed out. I’m going to play around with weight distribution and put some more weight towards the stern. Hopefully I won’t have to trim out to far to pick the bow up.

What size motor?
Hi mate it’s a 2stroke mercury 60
Hey, mate, what size is your boat? My propeller is the same as yours, 2 stroke, 50 hptohatsu
It’s a 4.25 edgetracker slim line It measures around 3,9/4 m
Are you still running the Permatrim ? looks like it doesn't effect your top speed once you have trimmed out, especially with high engine height.
Next time let your audience look at something other that your neck beard.
Why does your head look like a dial? Is this a new tik tok trend?
😂
How long is that hull your running????
The sticker says 4.25 but it measures 3.9/4 m
Quick question... i got a 14x30 cleaver and it has a lot of prop slip(around 38%)... should i get cup added to get that prop to grip more?
Yessir, I used the ball hitch method starting at 1/2" out from hub and 1/2" down from blade tip. Using heat helps alot. Be very mindful of how much you add. Little bit at a time is the ticket. That's just my two cents.
Cupping will help mate , but I’d probably send it to a prop shop . The blades are usually thicker on a cleaver where the cupping is and a bit trickier to cup. What is your setup mate? You might have to up the diameter a bit if it’s slipping a lot
That thing sounds mean!!!
Yeah it’s pretty loud , I haven’t drilled the exhaust on it either
@@merc625 please post a video when you do!!!
Runs great! The 96 Tohatsu M50D im running has been amazing! Ive always been a merc 2 stroke fan, but now i run 2 stroke Tohatsus! Have you ran any M50D outboards?
Hi mate, I haven’t personally. But a mate of mine builds them and runs them on Thundercats. I think damo has run 113kph 2 up with a tuned 11.25x20p
@@merc625 Yessir! I have TSR heads and all kinds of goodies on mine! She's fast!
Awesome! I balanced out my Ron Hill Semi Cleaver and thinned the blades a little. Performance is 8 out 10 now. Way less vibration on my tiller and seems easier to steer as well
Nice mate! Yeah ronhill props can be a bit hit and miss. But some of them run great with a bit of tuning. Ive had a couple of great ones over the years.
My mate sells these there a 11x20p over hub cleaver.
Nice video that boat rips!
Yeah I can’t wait to try a bigger prop on it and see if it’s quicker than the 60
Can you put a long tiller on a 2005 50 hp 4 strokeif so we're do you buy them and who could do the work thanks mate 😊😅😊
I’d just look on marketplace mate. There to expensive to buy new You could fit it yourself easy enough.
Hi mate, you have to grind a little bit off the bottom of the tiller bracket so it doesn’t fowl on the tilt tube. The bolts line up
Thanks champ 👍 And the bracket bolts directly on too? Cheers
propeller half in water and half in Air
Might be time to look at weight reduction and let that thing fly!
I might have to lay off the chocolates and ice cream 😂
Nice 👍
Now i have to thing about how i get a tiller on my 50hp yamaha autolube...
Forge v2 ??? 11x18p over hub ?????
Yeah mate it’s a over hub semi cleaver similar to a Yamaha drad
@@merc625 Thanks again, you save others so much time in getting the most out of their tiny. Legend !!
I'd love a tinny my wife and I could putt around in exploring creeks and I could barefoot behind. Whats the combo ? This is the kit.....
Hi mate it’s a 4.25 stessl edge tracker slimline The motor is a 05 mercury 60hp 2 stroke
@@merc625 Thanks for the info bro, much appreciated.
@@merc625 Thanks for info, love your work and sharing of time for a great fast build tiny.
Nice, sitting perfect
Good job mate , that's running clean , 👍
Yewwww , ready for the next day out !
Is there any way to make it quiet down when you don’t want it loud? Like putting that aluminum ducting tape over the holes for those quiet mornings and then rip it off when the sun comes up?
I reckon you could make a plate to bolt in there to block it off
Once I jack it up the vibration goes away but the torque remains. Also I'm running a hydrotrim type setup.
It's my first semi cleaver prop and it came from Ron Hill, very fast prop but it vibrates pretty bad and has crazy tiller torque.
Yeah some of Ron’s props are pretty rough. You can send it to a prop guy to be balanced or give it a go yourself Tiller torque is just the nature of the beast, once you raise your motor and start trimming tiller torque will increase.
Before I trim my cav plate out the water the tiller torque and vibration is ridiculous. I'm running a 96 Tohatsu M50D, it's Mildy built and I've got to take the torque some how. This semi cleaver is killing my arm. My round ear fishing prop isn't near as bad.
Thats a nice ride
Is that simons cat?
Nah Damien’s
Fuel efficient....and smooooth ride.
Looks fun and lots of thrills with a tiller.
Yeah if I had the dollars I would build a hotty. I didn’t want to spend much money on this 50 . Cost me $1038 for a wsm rebuild kit and $40 for a hone
Need to swap in some 1260sa sleeves from advance sleeve. Then port the block to match the exhaust port in the sleeve. You’ll have a stout motor.
I got 32 kmh in my 14’ aluminum boat and was scared to death!
The more you drive it mate , you will start to get a feel for it . Then you’ll probably want to go faster 😂
Самый лучший мотор в этом классе
You Australians are crazy 👍

Where did you buy that from
EBay
What prop is that my friend?
The New 40hp eo (bought ot yesterday) has a different larger cdi and no seperate rev limiter. I suspect it is integrated in the cdi or possibly there isnt.. Theres a black/White loop connected to the back of the cdi i suspect this is to interrupt the circuit. I Will check it and comment later with the results
Nice What brand and model 40 is it mate
@@merc625 Mercury Eo 40hp 3cyl. (Japan) year 2023.
I Havent tested unplugging the jumper yet because i was able to get to 6000 revs with no load. So i suspect there isn't one , or if there is i think 6000+ is a good place to have one. There are however valve stops behind the reeds and small venturis for the size of the motor which seem to be restricting the power. And also the butterflies did not open all the way from the factory by slightly bending the stop tab on the #1 carb so they opened all the way i got 200 rpm more at full throttle with 3 passengers. Next step will be to slightly increase compression to make up for altitude and check that the timing is correct i heard some found the ign timing placed rather conservatively at WOT from the factory.
Looked awesome- no speed shown!😢
Hi mate it was prolly doing around 90kph give or take
Loving the content mate keep em coming cheers from Cairns Fnq
Can chopper propellers surface
Yes mate they are designed to surface
@@merc625 Thank you🥰
I would like to see a test of identical propellers with different diameters, (on this little Tinny) Example: a 11X18p CLEAVER vs 11.8X18P CLEAVER propeller
Yeah it would be a good test
@@merc625 tests of the same propellers, same pitch. but with different diameters!
Which propeller achieved the best speed with a load of fishing or with another passenger? V2 Semi-Cleaver or would it be a CLeaver with a smaller diameter and pitch?
I haven’t really tested with 2 people, my brother inlaw jumped in for a quick run up the dam and it did 87kph easy enough with the forge 18p on It’s the best fishing load prop I have tried. It won’t spin 22 with the boat loaded A mate sells 10 3/8 x 18p choppers that go hard. I wouldn’t mind trying one that’s been pitched to 20p again. I reckon it would work well with a fishing load
@merc625 do you have a link to your mates choppers for sale?
@@railtdogg hi mate email me at performancetinnies@gmail.com and I’ll pass his details on

I just built a torque tab on my skeg out of epoxy putty. Works really well.
Nice is it like they do on the v6 mercs
@@merc625 i did it to my v6 merc after alot of research.
As the boat rocked the water pick-ups we’re exposed and picking up air.
