Getting lawn clients in January!
มุมมอง 779ปีที่แล้ว
I decided to pass out some doorhangers for my landscaping business just to see how they would do being that we’ve had a warm spell this Winter. I ended up getting about a 1% return on 500 flyers, which was 5 calls, not bad for winter! Looking forward to doing more in spring when I’m guaranteed at least 15 calls from the same amount of flyers. Follow this link for free downloads or the course: b...

Great video, good for you. When you get a chance watch Bryan Lawn Maintenance, on route density, and other things that can help your business grow, also Mike Andy’s Augusta Lawn Care. I hope theses videos help you grow even more. Thanks
I am a process Operator and want to start my lawn care business for my kids and want to be more at home on important days.
You first 15 mins I can totally relate I was in for 6 years now I’m in boiler side but still go to offshore oil platforms an oilfields now I’m 30 an my health isn’t best from all work I’ve done main thing is cancer/ skin cancer in this industry so much health hazards
Are you still in business?
@@MJFUYT yea I have a helper now so it’s more difficult to make videos
@@waylonratcliffeRt on brother.
Quit mechanic job after 7 years knowing i didn’t want to do it forever. Started my lawn maintenance business. Make more and work way less. Take winters off
Good video dude, Yardbook has been great!
This is going to be a random comment but I am a dermatologist and hope that you are using a sunscreen, especially for someone that spends a lot of time in the sun. Protecting your skin from UVA and UVB helps you avoid skin cancer and overall aging. Also looking younger tells your brain to treat the rest of your body as a young person, which extends life and longevity. A high sof of 35 even to 110 helps, especially if you reapply. SPF that are water resistant would require some oil before washing your skin to dissolve. Your wife can help you with that. It is leaky not a vanity thing to protect your skin, especially as as light skinned guy. I recommend any sunscreens without fragrance, which should be avoided in all products except deodorants. Vitacost, Amazon, and other online stores carry Korean, Japanese, French and American products. Cerave, vanicream, la roche posay, eucerin and many other brands have fragrance free products.
Hey Waylon, do you know if either is secure? I'm putting customer information in Yardbook and it makes me nervous if it will be hacked. Should I switch to Jobber for security purposes, is it more secure?
Good information and you are definitely wright about jobs 👍
Hey Waylon how would someone get in touch with you and f they wanted to hire you?
Thisiswaylonsemail@gmail.com is the best contact for the moment.
That's a Troll, that's it.
May God bless you and your family. In Jesus name. Wishing you the very best!
I used instant quote door hangers last season and didn't have much luck. This year I am going the traditional route with it without pricing. Have you experienced good results even without a instant quote on the hanger?
Yep, I’ve mostly used traditional, usually pass out 500 per day, get 2-3 calls per hundred put out. Not all at once but they trickle in over time, I’ve had people call 6 months after getting a flyer. The problem with door hangers is the effort it takes to put out. Then once your working there is hardly time. The new thing I’ve been doing is sticking to one neighborhood and doing a few short videos a week educating residents about plants and turf. This keeps the name relevant and has really brought a lot more work than I thought it would. People feel more connected to you than they do getting a random flyer. Just a simple 1 minute video and they get about 1000 views every time. Good luck this season brother, may God bless you with abundance.
I just got one today,, love it

Tried to buy the hourly rate calculator and the building a 100k course but it won’t let me buy it. How can I get it?
This link should get the calculator let me know if it’s broke, I’m moving from hosting to building my own site I’ll have the course on there soon. waylonbreck.com/hourly-rate-calculator/

One of the ways I got around the limitatio s of the Yardbook App is to use an internet compatible tablet. Then I can use all the features while on the jobsite. If I need to email or text, I just revert back over to my dedicated business smart phone. Keeps me current on the fly.
Congrats brother. I'm also a father of 4, working the day job but building a junk removal business in the evenings and weekends. Thanks for sharing your story, wish you and your family the best 🙏

I seriously think Yardbook is actually better
I’ll have to get back into it again and see if it’s improved. I’ve integrated my logo and colors into my customer portal with jobber which looks really professional. What makes it better you think?
Bring the sheet back please

Yeah, what neighborhoods are you servicing? How many customers?
Marketing a lawn business requires a tailored approach. The advice to engage with customers through online reviews and educational content is a fantastic way to build rapport. Thank you for these insights!👌👌👌
i’m thinking about starting my own lawn care business i’m 17 right now but i’m saving up until i turn 18 to really start i’m asking for insight on how you started out and the things you changed about your business once you got more experience/once your business started to grow. I’ve learned that with the internet people with experience are everywhere and sometimes it’s best to ask questions before you get started rather that going in head first. also is there anybody specific that you studied or watched to gain more knowledge about law care
Being an entrepreneur is a series of making things happen without the means to make it happen. Finding a way to punch through impossibilities over and over. Examine yourself, are you a risk taker? I’d say that’s the most important trait, if you have that than push on my friend. Also, learn to ask god for guidance and look for synchronicities in your life in correspondence with your goals.
How do you do this full time in the winter?
Personally I use Commercial contracts, some arrange their residentials to pay monthly through the winter. Some also utilize winter services, where they continue to go to the customers property for the same amount of time and clean gutters, roofes, whatever else needs done. Some use Christmas lights, landscape lighting is a good one too. Just have to get scrappy and find what works for you.
Wow that was a bad decision, you will never make 80 cutting grass
I understand your thinking, doing it by yourself is difficult. I’ve been open on my channel about what I make, last year my business made $120k gross revenue, I took an owners salary of $60k. That’s decent for a guy working by himself in this industry, some make more and a lot make less. The first few years I made a lot less, acquiring equipment, learning things, it was difficult. Now I’m growing the business to have help and the revenue is growing but profits aren’t due to purchasing and learning experiences. I’m in it for the long haul, and I know it will pay off once I’ve got a few crews going but matching my $80k salary is not my goal. My goal is to build a business that helps my community and most importantly gives hard working people in my community a good job and way of life. A big reason for leaving the oilfield was the recognition that life isn’t only about being a slave to the dollar, the business gives me independence, confidence, and purpose, the oilfield took all of that away. Overall 10/10 I’d do it all again without a second thought.
Good luck man! Keep up the work and I wish you massive success. I do junk removal on the side and have a full time job. One day I am looking to quit my job too. The great thing is one day your kids can come work with you and learn what you do.
Hey man, how do I enroll in your course?
Here's the link David, let me know if you need any help!
Yo when my gravely walk behind did this it was from some safety switch that wasn’t able to be pushed down. I just taped the switch down and it was resolved. Probably not the safest but cheap fix. View under dash to see if there is a button/switch Just a thought Cheers, Devin

Waylon I did the same exact thing at 36, my business is now booming. You da man Waylon!!! Look me up and let’s link up, I could learn from you for sure!
I totally agree that how a business responds to a bad review is very important. If the business responds professionally with an explanation or apology, whichever one is appropriate, that really shows me as a potential customer that this is not a normal situation.
I would not waste one second on a Google review. If you are in business long enough u are gonna get bad reviews rather u did something wronge or didn't its gonna happen. I had a lady message me at 330am. Went and left me a bad review because I didn't answer until 4 hours later. Trust don't waste ur energy on reviews ur work speaks volumes of you and ur business.
I sent you a message through Facebook
Sounds like competition playing games
80k is that before or after expenses? What about benefits, health insurance? It also could be a headache you’re not going to make money mowing grass only
Gross income was $120k, the $80k is net.
Okay, I have a huge question that will make for a great video. I retired from owning a successful engineering business in Dec of 22. Very quickly I got super bored and depressed, and I discovered how unhappy life can be without a constant and sufficient income. Long story short, my wife and I decided to start a lawn care and property maintenance business. We invested $45k in equipment and about $1000 in print advertising. Sadly, time flies, and the spring rush is behind us. I am writing this on June 9, 2023. So far we have zero customers and we have to make payments on our equipment every month. Almost every potential client already has a service provider. We are thinking we need some large properties, i.e. corporate clients or large plantation type homes. We think we need about 10 that pay $400 - $500 per day. These could be bi-weekly clients and would solve our cash flow crisis. Are you reachable at all? I'd love to have a phone conversation for a few minutes. God Bless, Dan Coleman
Be blessed and pray your business grow beyond measure.👊🏾
👍
get yourselves GPS trackers and hide them in expensive equipment. Lots of nooks and crannies they will fit in.
I’ve thought about this, like air tags?
@@waylonratcliffe yep. I use air tags in my vehicles and trailer.
Thanks for your videos man learning a lot from you
Absolutely brother, thanks for watching!
I price the lot size too because usually the less grass square footage, the more detail work there is like trimming and edging
Exactly right man, glad I’m not the only one!
Question? I missed marketing during the spring rush. I had a client that gave me 190 properties last year but they went out of business so I’m starting over now. I have door hangers and have set up Google ads, but what would you suggest I really focus on?
I answered your question in a video. Hopefully it helps some! th-cam.com/video/D-SdZR6YiZs/w-d-xo.html
