Boat Life Videos | This channel will be following my progress to full time off grid living on a boat. I'll need a bigger boat than the one I have, so I'll be sharing how I get my Bayliner ready for sale (having some fun in the meantime) and then the journey to a larger sail boat which is the dream. I will be documenting how I transition (my Casting Off) from home ownership to a more free and nomadic lifestyle, the risks involved with boat life and the (hopefully) bigger benefits to come. Please dont live full-time on that boat !!!! You seem to have a good heart , it would be a shame to lose you ! Pneumonia is the biggest killer for boaters living on fibreglass cruisers !!!

Great video Steve. Glad to see you’re keeping well. Is there anyway you can insulate the boat at all? I know it’s a little different, but for our diy campervan we used some closed cell insulation. Comes on a big roll from eBay & is adhesive on one side. It made a huge difference to the heat/cold transfer rate. Have you looked at a diesel heater? But be careful as there was the 2 guys from York who died on their boat due to CO poisoning. I’ve got one in my van & have an alarm too. I’m always paranoid, so will never leave the heater on overnight or anything. But I get the van to a nice toasty temperature before bed & then I just turn it back on with the remote when I wake up again.
Hi Robert, thank you. Hope you both and Simba are doing well! Insulation for the boat is tricky due to balance etc but I have a small electric heater which works great, I forgot to bring it! Next time, I'll have the heater and more duvets.
@ oh I never thought about anything like that. Any excess/uneven weight to one side would make it lean & at risk of capsizing with a rogue wave at sea. Hopefully the duvet & heaters will do the job. Simba is doing great for now. He is booked in for his operation on 24th January. So hopefully after a couple of weeks to recover, he’ll be back to his old self. Thank you once again for your support & help towards getting his operation. We really appreciate it mate. Really, really appreciate it.

@@ciaranbyrne62 Good idea, definitely need something for cold weather. A lot of my boating neighbours have diesel heaters.
get yourself a full canopy for the back , it doubles the living area in the winter and rain
@@jimmcgee5 I do have one but it leaks a bit and blows the boat around too much when windy.

I’d love to see the inside of the boats (this one and any new boat you get too). Things like kitchen area, sleeping space, bathroom etc.. Also, power set ups (solar, engine charging etc..).Thanks Sailing is something I want to learn in 2025. I’d love to sail the Atlantic one day, despite never having sailed a day in my life 😂 I’m looking forward to your new content as & when you get it uploaded. Have a great Christmas
Thanks for your comment and for the sub! Sailing the Atlantic would be an incredible thing to do. It's possible to learn quickly and lots of examples out there of people just doing stuff like that, go for it! Yes, I'll be showing the boat inside and out very soon!

@Suburbanpreppers Merry Christmas to you! Yes I've loved being out on the water since I was a youngster. Also have a small inflatable with an outboard which I do plan to make videos from in the warmer weather!
@ if things ever sort themselves out a little for us financially, I’d love to get a little inflatable & outboard for coastal fishing. I was window shopping for these last summer. Is a solid floor or an inflatable floor better for these in your opinion?
I prefer inflatable floor, pumps up really hard and adds another air chamber. Mine also has an inflatable keel for stability.
New subscriber here. One of the things I want to do in 2025 is join my local sailing club & learn how to sail. I imagine it’d be a good few years before I could afford my own boat, but it’s good to have a dream
Definitely join a sailing club, in my experience they always have spare dingys you can use till you get your own.

Several questions. How did it get that way? How long was it sitting? When was it last hauled out?
@@markdimaio8396 The outside of the boat has a lot of green muck on it just from sitting on the mooring. Last hauled out in 2019 and 2 years of anti foul applied. In the river, it doesn't need antifouling as often if at all when compared to the sea. I don't know about what happened before I bought it, I was a novice buyer so was as easy target. I'll be cleaning her up soon and taking her out for plenty of runs when the weather gets better though and will post on the channel.
