Independence Pass by 🚲 5/31/24
5/31/24 - the day I finally rode Independence Pass 🏔️
This one has been on the list for awhile and I’m so glad @___jakeypoo and I got out there to ride it before it officially opened to cars on June 1. (Although they did softly open it to cars while we were submitting it so that was unexpected but at least it was a small # of vehicles).
This one is a BIG climb with lung-busting vertical but my goodness …. Those views! Surreal rising up into the clouds with walls of snow alongside us ❄️ ⛄️. Add this one to your list some May before it’s opened to vehicles ✅ #independencepass #independencepasscolorado #bucketlist #bucketlistadventures #roadcycling

Ebike commute to trail run with Ramsey 🐶
มุมมอง 543 หลายเดือนก่อน
Memorial Day wknd trail run with Ramsey on the trails 🐶 💕 ☀️ First we did a #bikecommute to the trailhead using the #ebike and then we did a nice easy trail run, followed by an ebike ride back down and around town. Playing around again with the @insta360 🎥 - super fun. #notsponsored but in love😻 with these @brooksrunning cascadia trail run/hike shoes (currently on my 2nd pair)- they’re the best...
Changing my ebike brake pads !
มุมมอง 3714 หลายเดือนก่อน
In my quest to continue learning the art of bike maintenance, i dive into changing the brake pads on my #ebike … confession: I let them go a bit too far (esp the back ones) so the pistons in my brakes weren’t going back to their position which caused rubbing and noise. Thankfully my rotors are still ok for a bit. Here I get my hands dirty- albeit not wearing a dress 🤣- and you get to see me str...

March 1-4, 2024 a group of us volunteered with the azt to rebuild a part of the trail that had been abandoned for about a decade together back in use. The work included building a retaining wall/drainage and starting work on a rock staircase up a steep grade as well as clearing brush and widening/leveling the trail. This was such an impactful trip for me for so many reasons ! I loved this group...

This iconic world class climb is one of my absolute favorites - that’s why I make a point to get here at least once a year to ride it a few times. Such a treat to climb and descend it. It’s 24-27ish miles bottom to top and you can depart hot sunny desert and climb to cold snowy summer haven at above 8000ft! Bring a jacket for the descent as it gets chilly. 🥶 The road features a bike lane (more ...

In August 2023 I completed my first 29029 everesting event- it’s a hike up and a gondola down which worked well for my new knee post being hit by a motorist in 2022. This was my redemption event coming back off that traumatic event and it was a big success !

Picacho Peak hike 🏔️ Didn’t quite make the summit today as the wind gusts at the top were too much for me to feel safe continuing. I was really looking forward to the cable section and had my gloves with me! Still a gorgeous day, gorgeous hike, and a delightfully empty trailhead meant I had the trail all to myself 😊 🌵 More info at @picachopeakstatepark - I highly recommend camping at the park f...

Humboldt Mountain bike adventure

Humboldt mountain sits at 5204 feet and is located between Cave Creek and Carefree north of Scottsdale in the Phoenix metro area. The climb itself is paved but there are numerous sections of gravel (and washboards) to get to the base of the paved climb so bring a bike that can handle some dirt (and/or drive a vehicle that can handle a bumpy road). I chose to use my cannondale f-si hardtail moun...
Can you join a group ride on your ebike?
มุมมอง 7422 ปีที่แล้ว
🤔 Can you ride your ebike on a group ride ? Yes. Most definitely yes. 👍 Why don’t more people do this ? Honestly I think it’s an ego thing. But for me the decision was easy: after a monster run yesterday my legs were tired. Stay home ? Muscle the road bike even though I’m fatigued ? I didn’t want to miss the chance to be social and join a fun ride… Oh but WAIT -there’s a third option: ride the ...

did a version of this loop 7/24-26 on a loaded rivendell atlantis with platform pedals. Started in Silverton, did cinnamon pass first, camped before grizzly gulch (dispersed). Felt like I needed a recovery day in Lake City before attempting engineer pass. Engineer pass from lake city was less of a challenge than cinnamon pass (I might have been better acclimated or did better with my fuel consumption/pacing). I debated buying a pair of alterras in Lake City after seeing this video, but the hike a bike was manageable with my gravel shoes (no SPD clips though so that might have made the hike a bike more difficult in steep areas with loose rocks). Descent from Engineer pass was long and VERY ROCKY bumpy, possible on non-suspension road/touring bike but not the ideal machine for this terrain. I ran 50 mm Soma Cazaderos with tubes, tire liners, and sealant and fortunately despite the terrain did not suffer a flat or tire malfunction. This is a very demanding ride and would be better appreciated spread over 2 nights to fully appreciate the scenery and to reduce the odds of injury or accident. Overall the off-road drivers were fairly respectful and only had a few bad actors in the 2 days I was riding the loop.

When you are on a bike, you are, in a sense, "naked". Even though you are fully clothed, you are, comparatively speaking, naked. Vulnerable to all sorts of things in the bicycling environment, and, at the same time, totally free. Where you go, and how you get there, are not dictated by the gas tank, or gas pump for that matter. You're not stuck in traffic, because if you know your way around, you know you have all kinds of little holes you can wiggle through on your bike. You know all the routes that will get you around that train, or road construction, or traffic jam. You notice more things, while on a bike, than you do stuffed in a car. And, you don't have to taxi some nagging in-law, or some neighbor, who thinks they're entitled to waste your time, and whine about everything.

The stuff you run into while biking is one aspect I enjoy a lot. You begin to come out of your little world when you bike and see things you wont see any other way other than jogging...nope not for me. I like to ride along rivers or in a town i've never been in before an experience I would never realize in a car, yuck. I could list many things I've seen but one that sticks out is a cat village along a path that I was blessed enough to ride. lol all those cats looked like show cats well fed, beautiful and laid back and some were sleeping and wouldn't even open their eyes as I passed by.....wild. Mercedes silver arrow here with about 200 miles on the od and loving every mile. oh the lumos e-bike helmet with all the cool lights on it rocks get it.

I am sure this is an oxymoron = you don't look cool dressed in black on a bike YOU CAN NOT BE SEEN so why think you look cool ? Only in your own head you do ! LOOK at the woman at the start she has high viz top a high viz bag and high viz boots she will live longer than you !And she does look COOL!

Commute by bike 2-3 days a week, 22 miles round trip, takes me an hour each way. I’m not in perfect shape. I’m 45. I also recommend a pedal assist e-bike for days you need assistance. It’s life changing. I am saving money on gas. I’m getting into better cardio shape. It’s good for the environment. As a side note, i don’t dress into cycling gear like these people. I commute in regular clothes. May even try to wear some high heel pumps one of these days. Just try it!!
