Welcome to The Retail Whore Podcast by me, Michelle Sherrier: a podcast of stories and lessons from a life in retail. After decades spent in the retail industry, I’ve seen and done it all. Join me every week as I interview people from all walks of retail, the service industry, the wholesale gift industry, and more. A PASSION FOR PRODUCT WITH SAM CHAPMAN
Sam Chapman started his career as a hairdresser, working for some of the biggest names in the UK. Eventually, he decided it was time to work for himself and opened his own salon. He got a crash course in running a business and learned how to stand out in front of the right customers and encourage them to come back.
At one point, Sam’s business was failing to the point where he was on the brink of losing his home. It was in that moment that he decided to invest in a mentor. His mentor helped him break down his business and build it back up with the correct systems and processes he needed to succeed. Sam was also able to discover how profitable products could be and started up his very own line. Once he finally attracted a solid customer base, he began working on how to give them bigger and better results. Within two years, Sam went from drowning in debt to opening an online shop and bringing in over $600K!
Today, Sam’s drive to help others comes from not wanting anyone to feel how he did at his lowest. As a product-based business coach, his specialty is helping clients build their brand, attract their perfect customer base, and turn them into raving fans. His signature four-pillar method has helped many small businesses double their income in just a few short months.
Here, Sam shares stories from his exciting career journey from hairdresser to salon owner to starting his own product line. He dives into how he works with clients and shares his valuable wisdom on his podcast. Sam also talks about tackling imposter syndrome, how to use social media to connect with customers, and what it’s like to work with Sam as a coach.

This was such a special treat sitting down with you ❤
Thank you so much! 🥰
I remember watching your soft opening via social media and thinking how smart it all was. Bonus...for the first time ever my husband enjoyed hanging out at the wine bar with a beer while I shopped and gushed over yarn. Kudos for making your passion a part of your paycheck and investing in your dream. Thank you Jocelyn and Todd for such a special spot for crafters!
Thanks for listening!
Great 118 minutes! I laughed and laughed. I have been a sales rep for 27 years, and Bryce and Two Doors Down was one of my first accounts. He's always been one of my favorite people, and when he closed that store and moved to Kauai, i was so sad. One day he called me up to say he was back, and opening a new store in the same location. How amazing is that?! When he met Andrew, I knew it was meant to be. They are the perfect couple and adding their daughter has made them the perfect family. I love Curious... and I love Andrew, and grateful to still be working with them. Thanks for mentioning that reps are important to retailers. We are small businesses too. Kudos to you both for a wonderful interview!!!!! BIG Muah!!!!!
Thank you for listening!

America doesn't seem to want style, taste and originality. Not only Fillamento, which was brilliant, I'd travel to San Francisco with Ms. Fuller's store the number one stop on my list. Hortus garden center/nursery in Pasadena, akin to an 18th century parsonage garden, even chain Smith & Hawken, all gone. We're being texted, Amazoned and mid-centuried to death. Thank you Iris Fuller for twenty years of, frankly, genius and taste.
Have great memories of working with Verity in Europe at IKEA. Great job Verity spreading awareness of the importance of visual merchandising ❤
💯
Thank you so much for having me 🤍

This was great! Watched it twice. FYI Facebook is still where I get the most engagement. Gift Shop Owner.
Ten minutes in and I don't know what you sell.
I am so loving your channel! I’m 55 and just now opening my boutique in March (apparel & gifts) in Columbus, Georgia. It’s the first time in my life where my work doesn’t feel like work as you have said in other videos. But when you mentioned Elegant Baby, I knew I was on the right track. They are one of the only baby brands I will carry. Going to Atlanta again this month to find another one or so (baby section will be small). Thank you SO much for taking your time to make these videos! I’m learning so much! Melanie :)
Wow! Thank you so much for your kind words and congratulations on opening a new boutique! AMAZING! It is comments like these that continue to motivate me to share my tips, tricks & stories from my 40+ years in the retail business. More tutorial videos to come for sure ;) Be sure to follow me on my Instagram @mcdesigncollaboration for more retail & merchandising tips!!
