In 1949 The Three Stooges Moe, Larry, and Shemp shot a TV pilot for sitcom that would have aired on ABC. This pilot never made it to broadcast due to pressure and threats of litigation from Columbia Pictures who still held the Stooges under contract. Rather than face a legal battle ABC opted to negotiate a deal to license 30 classic Three Stooges shorts from Columbia Pictures that they could broadcast instead.
