Hardwick Hall tapestry restoration is biggest restoration project
Hardwick Hall is world famous for its collection of tapestries and the Gideon tapestries hold the record of being the longest restoration project in the National Trust's history.
The tapestries normally have portraits in front of them but Hardwick Hall is currently holding an event called Material Power, meaning they are unobstructed. This means visitors can see the full glory of the artwork on display.
We went to find out how the textile collection at Hardwick Hall tells us who Bess of Hardwick was.

    Best thing to do when applying for AA, is to contact Age Concern, here’s why. I am 67 years old and in receipt of the FULL Pension, I initially wanted my claims form checking, which they did. However after going through my claim forms, I was informed that should I get the award, I would then be able to claim Pension credit, due to the fact that the amount the government says I need to live on goes up because I have been awarded AA.So assuming I pass the criteria for AA, I would in fact be getting my full pension of £884 per month, £288 per month AA, and then because I need Pension credit I would then be entitled to another £78 per week, or £316 per month. So get your claim form filled out by Age Concern or at least get them to check your form, take advice from them, because then your on their system, and help can be made then for claiming Pension credits, just get them to run your details through the app they provide. Upon receipt of getting my form the DHSS emailed me and stated it could take up to 3 months. Still worth the wait as your monies due are backdated to when you made your claim. Hope this gives you a little more information to help you claim your full entitlements.

    Hello there, hopefully you will read this. We relocated from Birmingham a couple of years ago to Bolsover because of it's sleepy town feeling. It is so friendly and welcoming not to mention clean, tidy and extremely pretty. We hope and pray that Bolsover Town does not change too much and too many houses (unless for local people, it should be like Cornwall where locals are put first) Bolsover should be treated with the care and respect it deserves. Please do not change it too much as we know from first hand experience what happens when somewhere is not respected by new arrivals. We keep saying that if Bolsover changes too much we will move again somewhere quiet like Bolsover is now.

    Attendance Allowance is easily abused and those issuing it are unconcerned about the scams that are being done on a regular basis. I know an elderly couple who BOTH claim it yet just the two of them live together. So how can a person 'needing' someone to help them around the house etc also be the person who is 'helping' another person likewise.

    • @michaelmaycock5655
      @michaelmaycock5655 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@tinastimson7005 to be eligible for AA you must need support from someone either all day or all night. How can you be that person to another if you need it yourself. What I'm saying is that these people 'knowingly' claimed AA supposedly because they couldn't cope on their own yet THEY knew that nobody would be paid to attend because they didn't need it. The whole system is a scam vulnerable to people who know how to abuse it because there's no check over if the money is actually being used as it's given. I know for certain that each has gone away for a time, overnight, and left the other on their own.

    As usual the council via Mr Fritcley has taken it upon themselves to 'distribute' the monies that were granted to Bolsover town and in their wisdom decided to spread it across wider areas when it was originally just for Bolsover town 🤬 and it beggars belief that the council grants leases to the businesses that we have in the town. It is utter madness that we have 12 hairdressers and barbers! And two pizza places. How can the council expect people to come and visit the area if there is nothing here for them? The council talks about a 'cafe' culture for the town but this will never happen because of their ludicrous ideas of allowing unsuitable businesses in the town. Also the shop frontages should have a uniformed look in keeping with the areas status and all shop signage should be in the same fonts and colours to make the village look appealing. I only hope and pray that when the old Co Op is demolished that they will replace it with a building that is in keeping with the area and not some modern structure although I don't hold out much hope. Bolsover deserves to be treated with respect and the people of the area should have shops and businesses that we actually need.

    When i heard about Attendance Allowance i told my doctor i wanted to claim that benefit. My doctor put me in touch with. AGE UK who came out and interviewed me . They filled out the claim forms. I would never be able to wade through 30 pages of questions without making a mistake so i was happy about that.a few weeks later i got a letter telling me i was succesfull at the higher rate and how much back money had been paid into my account . So if your put off claiming phone AGE UK and speak to someone they can change your life.. also my older brother who is 82 and ex air force with numerous pensions and around £80 k in savings and investments put a claim in and it was approved also .

    When I retired with health problems after 35 years of self employment I was required to have a home visit from DWP to ‘prove’ that I had in fact ceased to work. The very pleasant official handed me, unbidden, a claim form for AA telling me that the DWP ‘wanted me to claim’ as the benefit was ‘cost effective’ for the government. I filled in the form(30pages!) and about 2 months later I got a letter telling me I was entitled to the higher rate. During the 2 month wait I visited my GP on an unrelated matter and he told me that DWP had asked for my medical records, so they’re careful how taxpayers’ money is spent, and rightly so. My wife gets carer’s allowance of around £80 on top of that as a result of my AA award. It costs nothing to make the claim and it was very worthwhile in my case.

    It is really annoying that the money is being spent on other areas of Bolsover rather than being targeted on just Bolsover town centre as it was originally meant to be. Steve Fritchley should have ensured that all the monies allocated were spent on Bolsover town and not gone back on his word as seems to be the wont of Bolsover Council. The other thing that annoys me is how the Council allows businesses to set up without any real thought to what we really need for example how many hairdressers and barbers does one area need??? 12 at the last count. Seriously??? Where are the shops that we need like shoe shops pet shop and other amenities that we as a town actually need? It is absolutely ridiculous. The council talks about turning Bolsover into a travel destination with a 'cafe' culture to rival places like Matlock and Bakewell but how do they really expect any visitors to spend money and appreciate Bolsover town if there is nothing here except hairdressers and take away outlets? Why did we need another pizza company?Another thing that the council seriously needs to think carefully about is things like cohesive shop front signs that all blend together to give a standardised impression and help the town to look presentable and in keeping with its heritage status. I only hope and pray that when they rebuild after demolishing the Co-Op building that they think about a design of building that blends in with the aesthetics of the town and not some ugly eyesore that sticks out like a sore thumb. Bolsover deserves to be treated with respect and careful consideration.
