I know Cathy Rigby did get the role of Peter Pan in 1974; what year was this
Just Beautiful, Marty ❤👏👏👏
Marty has a remarkable voice and stage presence. She was one of my students when I taught middle school math, and one of my cheerleaders also. She was an actress in the making back then.
Dang, Kathy is really young here and she’s not even using the English accent.
Awww
This isn't Cathy's first time playing Peter Pan. She was in a production at the MUNY in 1987.
I like the sandy ducan version of Peter Pan
Who doesn't?! Sandy was awesome! So was Mary Martin. Each generation gets their own Peter Pan. Cathy was my generation's Peter. Allison Williams was amazing in "Peter Pan Live!"
I like that Cathy’s wearing Sandy’s clothes.
This production had many design elements taken from previous Jerome Robbins productions (including Sandy Duncan’s) but Cathy is considerably shorter than Sandy, and these costumes were made for Cathy. This is the first production of Peter Pan that Cathy did, immediately prior to her first Broadway appearance in this classic. In each of the "Peter Pans" of the last 75 years, one can find elements passed down from Mary Martin to Sandy, to Cathy - even while each "Peter Pan" has made its own unique contribution. Although one of the costumers on this production has recently passed away, the other costumers for this show can vouch for the fact that these were not rented costumes.
"Vicente Hizon" Cathy Rigby is shorter than Sandy Duncan. However if that is actually Cathy singing she sounds essentially just like Sandy.
Cathy Rigby Peter Pan 1988 or 1989 Full Show
She reminds me of the original Amalia, Barbara cook! Long lost sisters perhaps.
Well, Marty ROCKED that!!
Wendy looks a little like her 2014 counterpart
Taylor Louderman?
Courtney Franks
Beautiful!

I remember Mary Martin she reminded me of her
Watched the MM TV PP (haha great internet slang-o) as a child. Loved it. Not familiar with other incarnations. Good info below - thanx to all ! Wanted to never grow up myself (mostly). Guess that's why Peter Pan hits the chimes in so many hearts.
BRAVA Johna! (& Dwight of course)
This is definitely Cathy Rigby. I was in this production, but can't remember if it was in 1988 or 89. Joel Ferrell was the choreographer. It was produced by Casa Manana in Fort Worth, TX and performed at the convention center that no longer exists.
The original Broadway production with Mary Martin was choreographed by Jerome Robbins. The very first production that Cathy Rigby performed as Peter Pan (in the stage musical) was choreographed by Joel Ferrel recreating portions of the choreography from the Sandy Duncan production. Joel Ferrel is still working in the business today, he is the associate Artistic Director at The Dallas Theatre Center and, if he cared to weigh in, would surely be able to give more facts.
This is definitely Cathy in an early production. Her costume here is like Sandy's. Cathy did several productions over the years. The originally Broadway production was choreographed by Jerome Robbins and most subsequent productions used the same or similar choreography. There is a book ("The Peter Pan Chronicles" I think) that discusses many stage and film versions of the story. The book was published a while back and as i recall the film "Hook" may be the last entry.
OMG! Gailley, it's you!!!! So fabulous to run across you on youtube------loved the vid! xoxox Janice your former next door neighbor!
Love it! Beautifully performed by everyone!
Do you have any more of the B roll from this show?
Do not have more B-roll. Wish I did.
This was fairly early in Lyric Stage's history, right? This guy sounds good, though he looks a bit young to be Sipos. The orchestral ensemble sounds really good. Wish I could've seen this.
He has a great sense of comedy. One thing I love about Sipos is that he can be played credibly by wildly different actors if they make the part their own...which Sandell definitely succeeded in doing.
My favorite Amalia, and this scene is one reason why.
Excellent performances! Such a well done scene.
Amazing, could not stop watching.
think i found the song for my audition! =)
To the last comment: Вы невежественны американца. Мелочных и, возможно, неграмотны. Обсудите ваши критики с господином Кирквуда, Данте и Kleban. Вы должны обратиться за лечением. Мой совет вам держаться подальше от TH-cam и держаться подальше от театра. Теперь идите попросить у Бога прощения.
This is tacky!
bravo MARTY...! GOOD TO SEE YOU HERE
i love this video!!!!!!
i just love this.
Excellent job! :) My favorite version on here. :) (Outside of Barbra Cook's, but she doesn't have a theatre performance available on youtube). :)
She is excellent
Ohh the age isn't even accurate. :P I'm even younger.. That makes more sense. I was always a huge fan of Peter Pan. My family use to own an illegal video of Sandy Duncan's production. I also had the 1960 Mary Martin broadcast, and I fell in love with the Cathy Rigby Production after I saw her on her 2nd tour. How on earth did you find this B-Roll? This wasnt even before her 1990 broadway production at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre.
This production was immediately prior to Cathy's production company casting - and going into rehearsals - for the first tour she did as Peter, which then, went to Broadway in 1990. Several of the cast in this production did the tour, and were in the Broadway production. The Tiger Lily was offered the role, but because she was going through a bitter divorce - and her ex-husband had threatened her life - she turned down the role.
For someone who is 25 years old you seem to know an awful lot about Sandy Duncan's Peter Pan. The choreography in this production of Peter Pan (Cathy Rigby's first time doing the role) IS similar to Sandy Duncan's. The choreographer, Joel Ferrel, toured with Sandy's production and recreated much of the choreography for this production.
It is? They used similar choreography and costumes to the Sandy Duncan production in the 1970's. I wondered if it was one of Sandsy's understudies. I didnt even know this existed. It's pretty cool. Her vocal's are alot better today.
It is most definitely Cathy Rigby. This was the first time she played Peter Pan. These clips were from a television crew that was getting B-roll for the review for the nightly news. There are enough closeups in this clip for you to be able to tell it is Cathy Rigby. This was around 1989.
This is old & amazing... do you have anything else of the show? I'm not positive that's even cathy..
Clear as a bell - the voice of an angel
what a voice! what a face!
Dwight... was this number a blast or what!?! Lots of fun!
You two were terrific together.
Boy... loved this scene!
Beautiful!
Brava!
What a performance!
Cheryl did such a great job with this show and major Kudos to Steve Jones for producing it! Great little show! Oh... and what fun playing opposite Marty... just all around a great great cast!!! Real privilege to be a part of it!
Большая честь быть запомнится вам. Большое впечатление вы должны работать в этом театре, где я много узнал об американской музыкальной комедии. Алексей
