Morphology Of Flowering Plants //Quick Revision//Neet2025/@BrainMedico #neetpcb
The morphology of flowering plants includes the study of their structure, characteristics, and form, and covers their roots, stems, leaves, flowers, and fruits. Here are some aspects of flowering plant morphology:
Flowers
The morphology of flowers includes the number and shape of petals, the number of stamens, the size of the petals, and the arrangement of styles and ovaries.
Stamens
The male reproductive organ of a flower, the stamen is made up of a stalk or filament and an anther.
Corolla
The collection of petals that encircles the stamen and carpel, and displays strong color.
Sepals
These form a protective cover for the flower while it is in its bud stage. In some cases, the sepals may grow larger to protect the fruits from birds, insects, and honey bees.
Ovaries
After fertilization, the ovaries mature into fruit, and the ovules develop into seeds.
Stems
The stem is an erect or ascending part of the plant that develops from the plumule of the embryo.
Leaves
Leaves can be modified into tendrils for climbing, as seen in peas.
Flowers perform several important functions, including reproduction, attracting insects and birds, and producing diaspores without fertilization.
