Wasn't this series of amps when they teamed up with Crown PA amps?

Would you be able to dyno one of the cheap "Android DSP Amps"? One of those that you put between the harness for the Android headunit and the headunit. It's basicaly just a small amp with high level inputs and pass through for the rest.

For the noobs in this subject, how many watts per channel is this thing actually giving at 4 ohms? I can't seem to find anyone who dynos and gives this simple information anymore. Yet it is the most common way people setup. 4 channels at 4 ohms, how many actual clean full range watts per channel?

These are awesome amps, but were always sold out every time I tried buying one. I still have an old school XTReme 200 (1997 or '98?) I bought used for $20.

What is it with people hating on amps that aren't korean or Brazilian boards? 90 % of amps are made in China? These amps are heavy hitters for the price they go for im fortunate to own x2 pairs for my system

To the fkn t its the 88 dollar wudi and they do real world half ohm i have 3 and sold 5 more the past two years 88 bucks holmes no more no less its a great fkn amp and pushes harder than a skar rp2k each n every day while it naps lmao very clean power even at half ohm

I have this amp, A few years back I used to run 1ohm load with four 10inch DVCs Subs. It would hit so hard and deep bass..I still have the amp, and now its going to power two 12 inch dvcs in my truck wired 1ohm.

X2 2k strapped 🫨

I gotta say the Kac 9105D... is a pretty solid amp. Never shut off or over heated or killed over on me.

Sound Magus made those amps for a lot of brands, SPL Dynamics, Massive Audio (they used a smaller heatsink), Zachry, Audio Gods are just a few of the brands that bought these amps from Sound Magus.

Yeah, this amplifier was based on a head unit amplifier chip. It was meant to just run an extra set of speakers.

Dummy mask taking the fuse ratings multiplied by 10 only applies to class D amps since class abs are way less efficient.

I used to really rock cadence subs back in the late 90s early 2000s cadence came out with some subs that had a completely flat cone and they bumped I forget the exact model I would have to look it up but they sounded really good people call them flea market specials but I always thought cadence was a good brand name

If you look closer you'll see it's not a surface mount board. That's all old school, through hole components. I wonder why they used such a large heat sink? Maybe big amplifiers were all the rage back then? Maybe that's the only size that was available for a cheap price? Maybe it needed all that surface area to dissipate the heat? It is pretty sharp looking, though.

2004 isn't that far back. You are getting the better gear with better capacitors (Hopefully) in 2004 forward. Cool Amp. Kenwood is still a pretty solid car stereo company. I really like their head units today. Especially the Marine offerings.

i still own 4 old school cadence ultradrive Q300 amps....bought them about 25 years ago and they still kick ass

Didn't know that this amp was considered a "cheater amplifier". Of course just my opinion.

I had the Kenwood KAC-821 and KAC-823 and KAC-923. All 2 channel Amplifiers. They sound loud and clear. I like the fact that they had built-in cooling fans. I had a MTX 3 way hatchback speaker box, and a Collins dual voice coil Bass Tube, hooked up to the KAC-923, and never had a problem with it.

It is really sick that it has a current meter, even Alpine with the best they could muster, the MRD-M1000, M1001, M1005 etc, none of them would read current, even with their AI net, amp address, fan and temp monitoring etc fanciness, the only feature I wanted, the only *useful* feature, current, they never had. My brother has a KAC-9105D, it isn't an eXelon, but it's rated 500w @4 and 900w @2. No doubt it makes good power, but I definitely think it rolls off early in the low end. It has a subsonic filter, switch selectable, but even with it off, but seems to be rolling off as you go under 35hz. It pushed a Type R 12 really well, plenty of power, and super reliable and a decent price too, but I just feel the bottom end was lacking. I haven't confirmed it with a scope though. I really like Kenwood, it's always been my top choice above Sony, Pioneer, Clarion and JVC etc. Especially their headunits. It is absolutely crazy what you get for $200. The DMX-9720 is a far superior headunit than anything even Alpine can offer in 2024!

I had kenwood ps 300 was a beast and the 926 and 1016 was really powerful and good strong clean power.

I love my kenwood excelon headunit and 600/6 dsp the sound quality is amazing running morel component sets

The protection circuit in the XTR class is absolutely amazing I can testify to this I took my amplifiers out reinstalled them did not pay attention that I reverse polarity on the positive and negative no blown diodes or circuitry,,, The he said she said on the HCCA they don't fare as well

I still have the Cobalt Orion 6400 watts /3200.1D I bought in 2015. I have it 2x maxp154D @ 4 ohms. I'm working on adding 2x maxp124D & 3 maxp84D. All being packed in a 2000 Accord sedan.... I'm ole' school so I've GOT to get a better head unit.... The Pioneer double din CD player is holding me back from a lot of features that would take my SQ to another level... I just haven't done much research on what's out there nowadays.... My pioneer has the USB port for a flashdrive and using the stock aux (headphone) port is crappy for linking my phone.... You lose so much volume.

I thought for sure I checked this amp about 4-5 years ago and got 1k rmsx2 I was dropping voltage from 15.5 down to 12.5 volts not near enough amperage on my home made power supply I only had 200 amp power supply and a big agm no lithium at that time .
