11/22/2024 Welp here we are, nearly 8 years later. These elevators seem to be holding up just fine! These were originally installed in 1987, had Schindler M Series originally. They were modernized, and upgraded in 2017 to PORT. These elevators travel at a whopping 1600FPM, 8M/s, 29 Km/H, 18 MPH

Before the mod: th-cam.com/video/5ICt2Hs5_1Y/w-d-xo.html This is not a bad mod, but MAN is this one disappointing... These replaced the Concave OTIS Series 2's which in my opinion, was Quite tasteful for the building. Schindler COMPLETELY Modded these, new doors, new door equipment, new cabs, New COP, and everything..... The only good thing this mod gave us, the floor indicator above the doors....

They will consume So much power when starting up, Particularly with the North Elevator, All of the lights will dim at least 25% of their brightness TWICE before moving up. These elevators have an Insane Inrush Problem
มุมมอง 224หลายเดือนก่อน
At this location, there are Two Dry Power Holeless Hydraulic Elevators, and the Hydraulic motors happen to be on Wye-Dellta Starters judging by the lights dimming in the elevators. In the first elevator, ALL the lights dim, at least 25% of their brightness due to the Inrush Power going to the Hydraulic motor as it kicks on, which is enough to make people think the elevator is gonna Trip its bre...

sound like a alarm clock
Did you speed test these? Bc someone else said these go 1200 fpm. Although they probably are faster than that. So idk.
@YouBlox-rd9cc QE elevators has confirmed these are 1600, first Canadian Place’s elevators are higher but slower, THOSE go 1200
@ Explains why my ears popped more on these ones than they did at First Canadian Place. My uncle used to work in First Canadian Place, but now he has moved into the Adelaide Bay Building. I’m assuming he now works in the one with the Schindler Port. But hey, I can go ride these and First Canadian Place anytime since they don’t have turnstiles like they do in NYC.
@ well QE elevators was there and I met up with him, security literally Followed us out of the building AND KEPT FOLLOWING UNTIL WE WERE OFF THEIR PROPERTY, there’s no point in doing first Canadian place anyway, the elevators there are so boring now
@ That’s so weird, usually they’re pretty chill about it since it’s Canada. I’m gonna be in Canada in like a week, so I definitely want to pay a visit here. I don’t actually film elevators anyway, I just like to watch videos of them. But I’ll definitely make a note of what you just said. There’s a nice view from First Canadian Place too, so that’s another reason to go up there. But thx for warning me about your bust, I’m really sorry that happened to you.
Wow!
Came out in the early 90s
@@FOSK-lc9op seems about right
I wonder if the ones in the west tower are also getting modded.
@@myotismon767 no clue, they’re behind turnstiles
Ahahaha love the ending!
Wow, so disappointing! They were gorgeous before 😢
It's a shame I didn't get to see these before the mod..
Now That’s A Huge Disappointment! I Love These Elevators Before The Mod. The Mod Completely Ruined It And The Historic Building. Awesome Video though. :D

Yay Craighurst was my favourite too!

awesome work Michael
Awesome Video! It was Awesome Filming these with you. :D
Did you film the elevators at the Eglinton GO Station?
@@elevatorsfromtoronto500 the new ones, nope
This is the downside of hydraulic elevators. They consume a lot of power going up, and a lot of people argue that tractions use more electricity.. Just look at all these modern energy-saving MRL solutions
@@EvergreenElevators GO Transit has been mostly using MRL from 2005 onward
@EvergreenElevators Hydraulic elevators are known to be workhorses, though. MRL traction machines (especially the bearings) struggle to hold up to heavy usage. In an installation like this, it's best to go overkill. (Dry-powered hydraulic elevator or bottom-drive traction)
@@QEElevators That’s a good point. MRLs don’t last longer than 12 years I’d say 💀
@EvergreenElevators Yeah and the city dosent have the money do keep doing mods🤣🤣 they are just gonna let it sit broken year on end in that case
@@QEElevators My local mall has been doing that with the main elevator but it’s supposedly finally beginning a mod. I certainly hope it’s gonna be a good one. I’m not sure who’s doing the mod yet but it’s possible that it could be OTIS
It's likely a combination of the fluorescent drivers being undervolted because of the inrush, and the lights and machinery might be on the same circuit. Either way, something's either using too much power or the power supply is underpowered.
@@QEElevators it was enough to make me think it was gonna trip its own breaker
Awesome catches Michael! Caught all these trains at Palgrave.
