fantastic commentary Kerry dad took us through the Haast pass in 1965 when i was 10 to Queenstown and stayed at his friends place near lake hays .

This house is not the Eggling original homestead it is the John and Nora Crons homestead at the Haast .

VERY GOOD TO SEE THIS , our family lived here 1960 to 75 , i know a lot of these locals , living here was the highlight of my life at9 yrs of age , till i left to go mining in auz = i learned to appreciate nature at its best

Thanks for putting this on. I grew up in Greymouth and are an ex fisherman with 25 odd years in the industry. I have huge respect for the bar and those that have lost there lives on it and also to those that still work it. Had many a nervous moment as a crew and skipper crossing it.

Anne, you don't mention my Grandparents, Keith and Elsie Robertson, donating the Donovan's store to DOC so it could be conserved. I used to stay with them and serve people in the shop in the 80s and loved having sleepovers in that building and still feel a strong connection with Okarito. It is beautiful there.
