Overland Gypsies
Australia
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 4 เม.ย. 2020
We are a family of 4, Nick, Mel, Jake, Kai and we can't forget our staffy Millie (the pup).
Our set up is a 76 Toyota Landcruiser and Patriot camper, with Mel's Jeep Wrangler making an occasional appearance.
We like to keep it simple at times using our crash pad swags when a quick trip is on the cards.
We all love an adventure whether it's 4WD'ing, camping or hiking and we'll never say no if it means exploring somewhere new.
Tag along on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok & TH-cam.
Mum & Dad are lovers of craft beer & coffee, Jake loves a challenging hike and Kai (the baby) is happy as long as he is with us, just like Millie.

มุมมอง 6372 ปีที่แล้ว
Join us while we take on Rocky Track in Toolangi state forest. The track lived up to its reputation and gave us a great challenge. We didn't do too much exploring on many other tracks as we were limited for time but the day turned out fun and definitely worth a trip out to explore. Thanks. Recently purchased a forward fold and searched "towing a trailer to Davies". I ran cattle from tom groggin to the high country in the mid 80's and always promised myself id go back.
Triton driver does not understand IFS and where he HAS to place his wheels to maintain traction, and therefore the car cops much more punishment than it has to. Oh, the music was most annoying. Piss it off.
Such an amazing spot around the Little River area. And the McKillops Bridge…spectacular. The running boards were supplied by our families sawmill back in the day, twice actually as the first load was stolen. 🤦🏽 Great episode! 👍🏼
It's a beautiful spot. We just didn't like the ants 🤣 we loved the Snowy area. Just the weather wasn't on our side. That's some great information on the running boards. Such an iconic bridge. Thanks for watching 👍
@@overlandgypsies I haven’t come across the ants to tell the truth, probably knew the rain was coming. 🤷🏼
Just our luck, they Probably knew we were going to come the night so decided to have a party
Bloke in the triton is bent on doing his CVs on the track lmao
Touch wood no CVs have been broken. 🤣
@@overlandgypsies lucky. He was hitting those ruts like a red headed stepchild

Hi we saw your Jeep in Euroa. If you want some tips on the tracks in the area let us know. Also curious to know how you're liking the Jeep because we're thinking of buying one.
What an awesome name 👍 Got some nice rigs, hope to see you on the tracks.
Thank you. 👍
Cool😊
Do you guys recommend diff lockers are essential if your going to do the staircase?
Not at all. When we did the staircase it had recently been fixed. Picking the correct line for your vehicle, you will be fine.
Who is the clown running around in pink pajama's? Too many people, standing in the wrong places giving too many conflicting directions. Circus. No wonder pink clown made a meal of it! And then I saw the blue clown!? A virgin Ranger on Mountain track. Hmmm. Gotta end in tears. Your are off-road, so adjust your tyres for off-road, you might find everything works a little better, compliant tyres moulding to the rocks, not bouncing around and having to use too much speed. All fine to have a bit of fun with the costumes, but you are not dressed for the task or the environment. If you had to spend the night stuck in the bush after the weather changed, how do you think you'd fair? Gunna look real nice laying in the mud changing a tyre or two. Or didn't that sort of eventuality cross your minds? Just wanted a bit of fun.

Fun little adventure by the looks of it. I never got the chance to head out there for a drive. Looks like a bit of fun with some challenges. Maybe one day when I'm back down there. That's a clean looking triton too🤙
It was a great day out. Not the hardest day of 4wding but had some great little challenging spots
Nice one guys. 👍🏼
Great episode guys, very informative. I’m heading that way in the next few weeks, this will help heaps. Thank You.
Thanks for watching. It's a great place to explore. Glad we could help 👍
@@overlandgypsies did you guys ever camp at Devils Hollow up near Blue Rag? Thought I watch one of your episodes a while back?
Never been to devils. We have done blue rag but never camped at devils hollow
@@overlandgypsies to easy, It was with a 76series, looked a bit like you guys. Better put it on your list. 👍🏼
I just looked it up. Looks awesome 👌.
Good job mate 👍
Good job mate
Great vid guys..👍
Thanks Kim 👍👍
Nice one guys 🤠👍👍
Thanks shad 👌👌
The Half of Wee Creek Track over Marginal Road is Pretty Gnarly, Even when its a Bit Dry. But in The Wet, The Steps, Devil's Staircase or whatever People call it these days is a Bit of a Challange.
Sounds fun. We don't know the area very well. We try a new spot every time we go out there. Thanks for the info 👌👍
Great video guys 👍👍
Thanks Shad, appreciate it 👍👍
@@overlandgypsies you guys done really well with the camper trailer on , I’m impressed. Do you know the weight of the patriot ?
It's around 940kg without water and all our gear. We've never checked the weight with it fully packed. I'm guessing it wouldn't be anymore then 1.3 tonne . It was our 1st real offroad touring trip with it and was impressed with it also.
@@overlandgypsies that’s awesome, its on the lighter end of the scale like our ultimate. Definitely an advantage when 4wding . I’m keen for pt2 🤠👍👍
Yes it is on the light side. The light weight definitely comes in handy with some of them VHC hill climbs.
Where's the last camp area you guys stayed
looks alot like the hikers camp at Johanna, could be mistaken.....
The camp at 19:30 where is that?
Just found ya channel guys. Looks like a great trip 👍 I’ll subscribe for more 🤘🍻🇦🇺🔥
Thanks for the support 👍
great Video. we have a same-age son and are going there this April. 😃👍
Awesome. Does he like the outdoors ? Let us know how you go in April !!
Isn't Trig track closed because the two young 20 year old friends (girl and a guy) came off the track and died in 2019. Not sure but Sad. Rest in Peace.
That may be the case. We are not sure😔😔 It did look like the track had been blocked off for awhile.
Thanks for that dudes, really enjoyed the trip, Walhalla is a special place
Thanks for watching. We also love the place. We have so much more to explore. Hopefully get out there again soon.
Red wood forest looks magical. Warburton is a nice place, bakery spot on GREAT! Question: where about was the tunnel? Thanks 🙏
The Redwood forest was awesome. We enjoyed Warburton. Will certainly be back. The tunnel is called The Big Culvert. It's located in Cambarville on Marysville Woodspoint road. Best to put it in Google maps. It comes up quick.
Well done 👍 Toolangi is a great play ground for both 4wd & dirt bikes. That rocky track looked full on hard. Thanks
We don't know much about Toolangi. Still new to the area. Will head back soon and do a few more tracks. Rocky track is a great technical track.
Nice.. planning to do that soon 🤞🏽
Awesome. Some great fun tracks that are close to Melbourne. 👍👍
Cool video of Beechworth mate... 👍
Thank you very much 🤙🏼
Lovely place, the Grampians, nearly ran off the edge of a cliff there as an adventurous 4yr old, 50yrs ago.
It's a beautiful place. We have plenty more to explore there. We were very cautious with those cliff edges. Some great views from them though.
Once Melbournians can travel more that 25k’s, and the weather dries up, I’m going up there to explore 🇦🇺👍🏻
It's great place to explore. Good how it's not to far away from Melbourne. We want to head back out again for a weekend. Explore more of Mt dissapointment and head into Tallarook
Audio track -80% please.
Thanks, we’ve received this feedback before and changed our music levels on all new videos, cheers ☺️
Those tracks didn’t appear overly challenging. Might be a different story after a few days of rain & snow ⛄️❄️🌧 Having quality vehicles makes a difference too. 🚜
Certainly not the hardest day on the tracks. Quarry road would have been the most challenging. At the northern end there is a very hard and challenging hill climb. We gave it a miss because it was late in the day. We will go back for a hard track day when the condition's suit.
In the dry the tracks compact down but give it few days of rain and their a total different track
@@razzieman dissa is a great winter destination
I think it’s great your son is getting involved in the videos, particularly saying good morning, it’s a small gesture, but shows he’s learning good manners and importantly, he’s learning how to build rapport with ppl. That’s important, especially since basic manners are not taught in school.
Have you done any serious mechanical alterations to your LandCruiser? Things like correcting the 100mm difference in the front axle to the rear axle, or upgrading the transmission to a 6spd?
Hey Ross, No mechanical alterations so far. Maybe in the future. Just getting out there exploring.
That long ridge top track looks interesting. Was that the top of Mt Wellington? I made my comment prior to you stopping and saying you were on Mt Wellington
It's a nice rocky track. Great views at the top. Has another view point at the end of the track but we never drove to it. We were low on fuel.
Great vid 👍🏼
Thanks for watching 👍👍
Good job getting your children interested in the great outdoors and more importantly in to 4WD adventures.
Thanks Ross! Jake loves it just as much as we do, he is always happy to be out on the tracks and camping.
The music is too loud & bloody annoying. Other than that it was great to watch. Viewers much prefer to hear engine sounds & exhaust notes.
Thanks for the feedback Ross. We’ll make note when editing the next video. We’re glad you liked the content 😁
Despite the poor attempt by VicPol to advise travellers against camping in the Wonnangatta area, it seems like things are very busy in that part of Victoria. It’s a magnificent & beautiful area!
Why is vicpol advising against staying at wonnangatta? Was it because of the two recent murders?
Great stuff 👌🏻
Thank you ☺☺

Was a great trip. Many thanks to the boys for having me along. It was a shame that a busted power steering hose sent me home a day early, but had a sensational time nonetheless.
