Here you’ll find a collection of tutorials on working with polymer clay and making clay canes. I try to keep them easy to follow, while maintaining my sense of humor. When I make a mistake I usually leave it in the video because I think it's important to let my followers know that mistakes happen and you can recover from them!
I appreciate all my subscribers, and I do enjoy making these videos, but I also want to let everyone know that I have a Paetron page so that if anyone wishes they can help support my page to allow me to continue to make these free tutorials available.
Thank you in advance!

Hibiscus Clay Cane @ArtworkByColleen
As you all probably know by now, when I see a picture, I try to envision what it’s gonna look like and a replicate that into a cane. I guess that’s the way most people work but so with this one, I really struggled. I made the first Clay came and I didn’t like it at all so then I said I know I can do better so I made a second Clay came and to be fair. The second hibiscus was way uglier than the first one and I just wasn’t gonna let it go so this is try number three. I feel like I finally got it the way I wanted it. If there’s any interest, the first one came out pretty decent; I can put up that video to show you how I made it. I hope you enjoy.

Although I mostly do my flowers from a top view, I decided to do this one more angled from the side so it gives a little bit different depth. I hope you enjoy this video. Have a wonderful day everyone

In trying to grow my channel, I decided the profile picture for the channel needed to better represent the content on the channel, so I designed the triangular piece, then proceeded to reduce it and make a full on kaleidoscope cane. I’d love to hear your thoughts of which image would be better for the profile picture.

What started out as a Halloween kaleidoscope can idea quickly turned into just a fall colored kaleidoscope cane because I don’t see Halloween at all in this however, I do think it makes a pretty cane and I did enjoy making it so I thought I would share it with y’all.

You're welcome 😊
❤❤❤
Nicee
Thanks
I love the color
Oooooo I really love that flower!
Awe thank you 😄
Yes, we care!! I saw this come up and did a double take with a happy grin on my face!!😁😁 And, show us what you made with your 3D printer
I happily will, just didn’t know if it would be weird to post 3d videos on my channel since I have always done clay😉
I love LOVE your talent .!!!
Awe thank you so much😃. I’ve been distracted these past 7 months with my new 3d printer but I’m trying to get back to clay and make some more videos. Stay tuned 😉
wow clever! I love it
Thank you! 😊
Fast is good ❤😊
Glad you enjoyed the faster speed 😃
I like them both but the white in the right really helps the butterfly colors pop!
Yes I definitely agree! Thanks for taking the time to comment 😃
Oh wow that's amazing!!! I love drawing mandalas and making canes. Combining them is very impressive
Thank you so much 😀
Is it just me? All I'm seeing is her hands.
Yes it is true I’m showing each section the the process, however if you have your audio on you’ll hear me narrate the entire process. Hope this helps. 😀
I'm a beginner. I hope that you'll start making videos again. I would love to hear you talk and just work how you work without editing or anything. I have so much to learn and the boring parts to the experienced clayer is very exciting to someone who knows nothing. Please come back. Thank you 1000 times for this video.
I do plan to come back. If you look at some of my older videos I did not edit every much so they are usually the longer version. I’m hoping to start again in April at some point. Thanks for watching 😘
Havent seen you in forever. I hope all is well with you and yours!!
I know I kind of feel bad about not making another video but to be honest my husband gave me a 3d printer for Christmas and I’ve been printing non stop 😂. Thank you so much for checking in- eventually I’ll get back to my clay😉
I love it ❤ Its very pretty. I love butterflies. If you ask me, one cannot make enough of them 🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋
Thanks so much 😊
I absolutely love this. Thank you for your tutorials. You are very inspiring.
Thank you so much!
I love it, its beautiful. The colors pop beautifully. Thank you for sharing. I thoroughly enjoy your tutorials.
Thanks so much 😊
Love it, next time would love to see more close up shots difficult to follow along and see. Thank you for the inspiration
Thank you! Will do! Sometimes I tend to cut it too short as I’m afraid people will be bored 🥱
This is absolutely amazing! I’ve never seen this done before and my jaw is on the ground! 😂 Wow, great job! ❤
Oh, thank you so much!!🥰
This is so helpful thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Absolutely beautiful, thank you for sharing. I love your videos, you're so talented and you explain everything well.
Thank you so much! I appreciate the feedback I really do try to make it easy to follow so that people will want to give it a try.
Beautiful cane 👏🏻
Thank you! 😊
Such impressive detail! ❤️
Awe thanks so much🤩
What the heck is going on in the subtitles?
I think what happened is there is a section where I was listening to a podcast, and even though I muted the sound for the voice over, apparently the close caption also picks up the muted sound- sorry about that!
@@ArtworkByColleen Weird. Thanks for the explanation!
Thanks so much for this great tutorial!! Made my first rose cane today. A couple of minor errors. But overall I was quite happy with it. Only my 2nd cane ever. BTW re the dreaded Sculpey III, since I was also stuck with a bunch and I've been leaching it. I find it really helps.
You are so welcome!
All I can say is 'perfect', Perfectly done and perfectly festive.! Now, lol Back to the little prints you have that you model your canes off of, I'd still be interested in what and how and where lol I have a printer....
Awe thank you so much😃
The biggest thing I learned was to watch the video all the way through before starting. Followed right into the mistake.😒
Oh I’m so sorry. 😞. I usually leave my mistakes in because I want people to see I screw up too. I apologize that it messed you up 🤦🏼♀️
Your canes are amazing. Mixing the true red with a little bit of white and a lot of black and expecting a lighter red was kind of unhinged though. The artist going by Draw Mix Paint on TH-cam has made a video on mixing colors that is amazing. It's called How to Mix Any Color or something like that. That's what I recommend to everyone who can't wrap their head around mixing of opaque colors.
Thank you for your suggestion- I applied it 😃
That was so fun. And I was only watching!! Your cane turned out beautiful. I love the surprises at the end. I think the trick is to just create and try not to plan too carefully. That came thru with you so well. And the end result speaks for itself. Its awesome. Colors are great and you did a fantastic job of walking us thru the entire process. Thank you for your time and obvious love. And for sharing it with us. Kudos!!
Thank you so much😃 i’m so glad you enjoyed it and yes, sometimes you just have to let the Clay take you where it wants to go😉
Great !
Awe thank you 😄
This is just gorgeous! I can't decide whether to try this one or your black and white one first! Hmmm, decisions, decisions! 😍😍
And if you look, I just made a new colorful mandala cane😉
Where can I get a work surface like your's?😊
They sell them at hobby lobby and Michael’s
I think you did a fantastic job 🥰 I applaud your patience 👏👏👏👏❤
Thank you! 🤗. The funny thing is, I have ZERO patience for people and my daughters are always shocked that I can sit for hours and make these canes 😂
That is sooo awesome!👌❤
Thank you so much😃
It's gorgeous Colleen❤.
Thank you so much! 😊
Hi Colleen . I love your work. What do you use for a varnish ? I’m using mont Marte and I feel it’s sticky . What am I doing wrong please help ❤
I use UV resin and it seems to work great.
WOW that is brilliant awesome stuff. You have a new sub from me a a huge thumbs up <3 Waves to you from Australia <3
Awe that’s so sweet 😃. I’m so glad you enjoyed it and thank you for subscribing
Beautiful vase, I am going to have to try and make one.

Pansies are my favorite flowers, because they come in so many different colors. Awesome tutorial!!! ❤
Thank you so much! Yes I love pansies as well.
Oh my gosh, this turned out Beautiful. I am going to have to try and make one of these. I love that you did all one color. Again Absolutely Beautiful. ❤
Thank you so much😃 a co-worker asked for a black and white mandala - and to be honest when she asked for it, I had to look up a mandala, because I really didn’t know what it was 😂
So cool! Love Mandalas. Wonderful tutorial. TY.
Thank you so much😃 I’m really glad you enjoyed it!
Looks like a Patterson's curse weed flower in Australia

@@ArtworkByColleen they are a pretty weed.
@@michelegrice4938 well at least the flowers is pretty 😂
Just brilliant work.
Awe thank you so much 😊
Lol I loved this . I tried to make a heart but it distorted 😢 . It looked pretty cool though but not what I wanted . Your amazing and I hope to be a bit better as I make more .
Practice definitely will help you immensely- when I look back at some of my first projects ….yikes, I’ve come a LONG way😂. Hang in there
WOW You’re Amazing I Absolutely Love Your Work and Hello From Australia 💕💕💕💕
Thank you! Cheers! So nice to hear from Australia 😃. Thanks for watching!
Bellissima cane ma un po' difficile per me 😊 comunque complimenti, sei bravissima 😍👏👍
Thank you - it was a little complicated- but if you take it one step at a time - it is doable 😃
Love how you do this. One of these days I am going to try my hand at doing it the way you do. 👍💕
Sometimes I feel so lame - because I’m just “filling in the blanks” 😂😂😂. But thank you. The Chip video will be out by the weekend 😁
So Cute! Love your videos. Thanks for all the videos you do!
Awe you’re so sweet! I’m glad that y’all are enjoying my work 😁
We couldn’t hear you either.
I’m so sorry I accidentally had the music on in the background and I didn’t shorten it as I usually do.
