I would like to know what would you do i you have to do a job on a as you go job, per say, in a different location using a different computer? I do like your setup but to be realistic. Shouldn't be just easy to use something out of the box? rather and install and redo every config again and again?
Is there any way to create a new file inside the nvim session with automatically named and templated? If I open the :terminal on "Testing" inside nvim, the nvim open inside nvim session.
I don't actually understand what <cc> : CURSOR does. What is it for?
Thanks for this, super helpful!
this is cool, i do something similar but the lazy way, i create my hub files and then just write in daily notes, where each section links to a hub file. I found this somehow makes me write more freely without worrying about making "perfect" zettelkasten notes
Just found this. Decent vid. However the git source does not match the vid at all. Still its useful.
hi there Sadly markdown-preview is not supported anymore so I receive some failures
22:00
The best thing I did with my split is start using my mouse in the middle. Give it a try if you haven't. That way you are closer to your mouse and don't have to reach as far.
Your videos are great! I expect your channel to really take off soon:)
Can we get something On backend not too big but yes something really great
Stumbled across this and really impressed; excellent work.
but this doesnt factor in your entire codebase when it generates responses...right?
the latest version does. you can either type @codebase or select individual files to include
Going to watch this again when my Moonlander arrives Thanks!
dude has an ergo keyboard but still uses magic mouse, lol
wan't expecting a Malazan reference
My one regret was not ordering the Moonlander with the blank, sculpted keycaps, since I quickly went ham with customizing my keyboard layout. The lettered keycaps were all the same sculpt, which meant I was able to rearrange them in any configuration. An exception was J and F, which had the small bump to indicate homerow. Being able to look at my keyboard and know which key was which with the new layout definitely helped me a lot at first, but now that I'm touch typing, sometimes I wonder if I should've went with the blank keycaps instead. Unluckily for me, my country had been blocked from their delivery locations, so I had to go through a third party to deliver it from the USA to here, not to mention I lost $10 in currency conversion fees (doubled since I got refunded the first time... the fees were not refunded), so it's kind of hard for me to order more stuff from them.
for python envs i currently use conda and dynamically just grab the path variable on lsp attach. I just always have the correct env activated before opening nvim. works well for me
That makes sense, one thing I didn't understand in the video is do you install the language server in the venv or globally?
@you install language servers with the mason nvim plugin
@@jeffrey5602 yes I understood that part, and looks like mason installs the binary into its data directory. My question was concerned handling multiple virtual envs, but I think I understand it now
I learn a lot of things, doing this project. Thankyou so much
Amazing. Do you feel like avante is lacking some features from Cursor IDE? I really love using neovim but what I've read is avante is still far from what cursor does.
Agreed
At the risk of sounding stoopid (because I am) I have a question (I’m also newbie) In flat is better than nested. Why do you have two validations for No Apples in all of the 3 code examples? 3:21 Great video ❤
That’s a mistake! Good catch. One is a duplicate
Keep at it! This kind of skill on YT is rare and deserves attention!
Thanks for the support!
Thank you very much for your video. I am a catholic priest who lives in Osaka, Japan. And I love computers. I am currently trying to build in a raspberrypi an application that can listen voice and transcribe text (STT) and translate it and convert to voice (TTS) and send to the mobiles connected to its network so that it can be listened while the person is speaking (and not having to wait until the speaker ends their speech). Wowwwww I think it will take me more than 10 minutes. Thanks for your work.
That sounds like a really fun and challenging project! I’m so curious about how streaming the audio to phones would work. Also this seems like a useful product for the world, I wonder if there are commercial solutions for this
Actually this is like the tourist headphones… the guide speaks on the microphone and everyone listens to this. This is the same but with the audio translated and using your own headphones linked to your mobile. Maybe it is easier to stream the text and do the TTS in the phones.
the dataset mentioned in this video, is it free? if so, where can I get?
informative short👍👍
Wow…Tmux, vim, LLM-GPT and live coding ( no film cutting and cheating), what can be sexier than this… uhm, maybe an unprepared topic given by audience. This demo is stipulated until found you this
But can really anyone use it to make a AAA game? I hardly imagine the token traffic and the cost
I agree, costs are not very transparent with avante. I think there’s a lot of work to be done on optimizing API costs with these open source AI editor tools
I have watched many videos and this has to be the best of all. It shows in a practical way step by step. I have a problem in my function since it requires extracting credentials from another API and then sending them to BIGQUERY but the configuration of these has not worked for me. Same like you, I have may credentials in the .env but I don't understand how to do it so that it uses this in the functions. Where I have to do here in cloud functions??
Thanks. In the cloud function, there’s a config page to set environment variables instead of using a .env
Hi for MarkdownPreviewToggle some reason it doesn't open the chrome browser
Excellent demo and I learnt from you. Maybe vim term mode was not shown here, but do you prefer tmux pane as the work terminal or vim term?
I think oiled workflow between vim and tmux is good, I saw many <c-a> keyremap on tmux, <c-b> is keystroke pain for me, but why don’t use <c-w> to make both more transparent between vim and tmux?
think in tmux opening vim, if both choose to <c-w>, collision
Yes exactly. I do use vim panes for split screen sometimes, so I can’t have a collision there. I use <c-a> for tmux because the default is a pain. I dont use vim term.
Thank you
Does this also work with Ollama?
Yes. But I have not tried it github.com/yetone/avante.nvim/issues/442
yes, but it's a bit tricky and you also need to manually run your ollama server.
No AI huh
Hello…I am implementing the same thing u hv implemented in GCP but currently I am getting one issue “Expected each attachment to contain a content string”…. Even though I used toString(‘base64’)…Can you please help on this
where are the remaining parts Alex!
Awesome content man, I've been messing around with avante lately, but feature to use project files with '@codebase' is not working as intended, and that's kinda really bummer, have you got around to try that feature?
I havent tried it yet no. Dont see any documentation on how it works either. Ive struggled to understand what prompts avante is actually doing on my code. I worry that @codebase prompts would be quite large and therefore expensive. Also wonder how they decide about what to put in the context window if your project is quite large
I am going to do python programing with neovim, but my working is mostly relevant to AI development, and anaconda is a important tool of package management for me, is the neovim works well with anaconda
Sure, but I dont use anaconda anymore so I haven’t tried it. Im sure you can find resources online to help
Full Stack Data Science for the win!
😁
Hi , seems that your config file has "shrank" a bit in the meantime when i checked your github - is that correct? Do you still somewhere have that original config being used here in the vid? cheers
I still use obsidian in neovim exactly like this! You should be able to see all the config in my dotfiles repo on github
github.com/zazencodes/dotfiles/blob/main/nvim/lua/plugins/obsidian.lua
Hey Alex, have you tried using claude with avante? I used avante for a couple of days but the cost per message seemed high so i went back to cursor, i was spending about 2 cents between the input and output tokens, per question. :S
I think it adds your entire file as context so if its large then costs would be proportionally high - even for small tweaks on the code. I have tried claude yes. I would assume costs are the same - probably more than gpt-4o-mini but on par with 4o. Claude does work a bit better with avante Ive found
It’s good stuff I use it daily with sonnet. I tried to setup ollama but I failed. No big deal sonnet api costs pennies. I will watch your setup video your content is good.. and… I’m addicted to vi since around 1992
You're using a great ergo keyboard and at the same time the most uncomfortable mouse ever :)
Hahah- you know I always liked that mouse! I’m using a more ergonomic one now though
Another bomb! Avante is great
Really nice video on Avante.nvim. So far the best and most comprehensive I’ve seen. Very well done. 😊 Off topic: what monitor do you use? 😅
Thanks! Monitor is Dell 32 4K UHD Gaming Monitor - G3223Q. I like it but miss the contrast of my old VA panel.
Hey! Did you manage to try the auto suggestion feature? Thanks for the video, I'm also trying all AI coding tools available in neovim and Avante is def one of the most promising ones.
I’ve not tried it. The next thing I want to experiment with is the “ask project” feature (chat with multiple files as context).
Thank you!!!
Thanks, I’m glad you liked it
Open source and nvim is a win win
impressive setup, very nice. lets see paul allen's
I tried avante but for some reason the response does not get updated inside neovim, I know it should work because it consumes credits but the response does not comes through
There's no difference compared to gp.nvim? That's a disappointment
is GP nvim free? it do I have to pay for open ai API key?
@amqndin if you have a self hosted ai it's free but otherwise you need a key for anyone of the big providers
That’s cool
amazing mate ....
