Jaeicu Living - Off-Grid Farm in the Philippines
An Expat from Scotland living and farming in the Philippines with his wife and family.
We've been planning to build a farm for years and are now finally doing it. Follow our progress as we begin the construction of our dream project from scratch with no road, water, or electricity supply in place.
I also love to go around on the bike finding little nooks and crannies with spectacular views of the incredible beauty of the Philippines.
We recently created a small online store to help us make some extra cash on the side to help finance our farm. Please check it out at the below link and let me know what you think, and if you would like any custom designs made for you we can make that happen too!

Welcome To The Jungle
Join me for a trek along the jungle path to our water source. We have to follow the stream bed which is no longer dried out and is beginning to fill with water as we approach rainy season.
The waterfall is already flowing much harder than before and will only increase in volume once the heavy rains come.
We will use this water to supply our fish pond and keep a constant flow passing through it. This will keep the pond healthy and prevent stagnation.
Keep your eyes open for snakes!

Tandag To Lanuza Coast Road
Beautiful sunny day so decided to take a drive up the coast on the scooter from Tandag to Lanuza. It's been a while since I've been on this road but will definitely do it more often after being reminded of the stunning scenery. Cliffs, beaches, and lots of little hideaways are to be found. I thought about how much the road has changed since the first time I went there. In those days most of it ...
Pigs For Sale! - We Sold Our First Pig!
Today was a special moment for us as we sold our very first pig to a paying customer! After months of hard work and sacrifices, it was all worthwhile at that moment. As Christmas and New Year approach this is a busy time as everyone is looking for pigs for Lechon. If you saw our previous video you will remember that "Lechon" is a style of cooking a whole roast pig on a spit over an open flame. ...
Our First Lechon Baboy - Filipino Whole Roasted Pig raised on our farm in the Philippines
We bought nine new piglets to fatten up and get ready for Christmas. We will sell these for Lechon, a style of cooking a whole animal on a spit over an open flame. It's a good move for business as we can turn them around quickly without keeping them and feeding them for a long time. Hannah chose one for her birthday party feast and we are excited to try our very first Lechon Baboy from our farm...
Building a Fish Pond and a Goat House - Tilapia Farming in the Philippines
Hi Folks, this episode we are continuing on from the previous one where we started Constructing a Tilapia Fish Pond. We continue to manually dig the site by hand and are almost at the stage where we can pump out the dirty water and replace it with fresh. At the same time, we have been building a Goat House for our five escape artists with the hope we can contain them there successfully! Time wi...
Starting A Fish Pond - Growing Tilapia in the Philippines
We're starting on the next project which is building a fish pond. We are planning to grow Tilapia here which is a very common and popular fish to eat in the Philippines. These can grow to be just under a kilo in weight. We should be able to comfortably grow a few thousand of these in our pond which we can harvest every few months. Hannah and her friends, Blanche and Alnex, went to visit a neigh...
Heavy Rain Threatens Our Water Supply - Farming in the Philippines
A sudden rainstorm hit the farm and the excess amount of water hitting our water supply reservoir and intake tank was causing concern so we had to go and check it out... We also have a new member of the family, Smokey the Rabbit, who joined us recently. We plan to breed rabbits for pets rather than meat as my daughter wouldn't like it. I'm sure we'll have hundreds of them soon enough. We recent...
Piggery A Go Go! - First Pigs In Our New Piggery
The main construction of the Piggery is now completed and we have our first batch of pigs. Two pig mothers for breeding and 11 piglets for fattening up for the market. We recently created a small online store to help us make some extra cash on the side to help finance our farm. Please check it out at the below link and let me know what you think, and if you would like any custom designs made fo...
Jungle Water Supply Line - Farming in the Philippines
Following on from our last video we are now constructing the water supply line from our spring in the jungle connecting by hose to the reservoir tank on the farm. First, we had to build an Intake Box for the water to flow into, then attach the hose and run it down to the farm. We recently created a small online store to help us make some extra cash on the side to help finance our farm. Please c...
Fresh Water Source - Building A Cistern or Reservoir
We need to supply the Piggery and Kubo House with fresh water. We haven't dug our well yet so we have to use another source. Luckily we have one...but it's out in the jungle a little way... Awing and his team construct a cistern from reinforced concrete with the aim of filling it with water from the fresh spring and then using the reservoir to supply the farm. We recently created a small online...

The Roof Is On! - Building A Piggery In The Philippines
The guys have been very busy getting the roof built. You can see already the significant progress made from when we started. It's really amazing how big it looks now compared to when it was marked out on the ground at the start. The pigs should be very happy and comfortable here in their new Palace! We recently created a small online store to help us make some extra cash on the side to help fin...
View From The Porch - Farming in the Philippines
Today the weather was fantastic so we decided to climb the small hill at the end of our farm. We're planning to build a small house up there with a front porch facing down the valley with a view of the distant hills. It's not as small as it looks and is a bit of a trek to get to the top but the view is worth it. I also got myself a proper hat which I am well-pleased with! We recently created a ...
A Well-Deserved Feast - Farming in the Philippines
The guys have been doing such a great job we decided they deserved a treat so we brought in some food for a feast at the farm. Tuna Kinilaw, Shrimp Adobo, Lechon Manok Chicken, everyone loved the food. We recently created a small online store to help us make some extra cash on the side to help finance our farm. Please check it out at the below link and let me know what you think, and if you wou...
We've Got Power! - Farming in the Philippines
The Pig House build is ongoing and we needed to get a power source for the small welding machine and power tools etc. So, we bought a small generator and sent it by Karabao Express to the farm where Awing and the guys built a small shelter for it and rigged it all up, ready for use. We recently created a small online store to help us make some extra cash on the side to help finance our farm. Pl...
