Hi everyone, today’s subject is one of hard truths and heavy hearts. While the actions committed by Hamas on Oct 7 were heinous and wrong, they were not unwarranted or unfounded. For almost a century, Israel and it’s colonial forefathers have crushed, destroyed, and desecrated the Palestinian people, all because they wanted their land as their own; all in the name of greed and self righteousnes...

No way a music opinion that isn’t pretentious as hell what the hell is this???
Best drums I've heard on a shoegaze album by far, much better than on any other IMO, plus the switching between the singers is almost what makes this album so good. So what it sounds samesy, if you are getting bored by the songs dont listen to it again and listen to something else. This band is redefining the pacing and techniques in song structure in shoegaze.
AOTY🗣️‼️ Amazing review man! Also, I don’t think that this album is connected to Gods Country all that much. It seems to be completely separate imo. Anyways, great review!
thanks dude! oh I don’t think so either: if God’s Country was the microcosm than Cool World is the macrocosm of the world and the atrocities within it
Ye is solid stuff, perfect for Spooktober. And this bass tone, wtf dud. 🎉
I know right the timing is impeccable and so is the bass!
Good, but “God’s Country” is way better.
to each their own, I still love it too
The track, "Shame" is almost nostalgic for me as a dude born in 1980. It captures a certain vibe from the early 90's.
Agree entirely...Believe it or not, almost Indie Rock in a way.
it feels like that’s what they were going for, even as someone born past the time
Are the album of the year comments a joke? 😂 i mean, taylor swift n stuff so… not happening ever if you are meaning billboard shit 😂. I wish but population is braindead swifting right now
like from an artistic point of view, I could care less about billboard and swifties are dumb as hell
i agree i wish they had switched the song structure up a bit but pmo if im wrong but they really sound unlike anything else out rn most nugaze bands copy from like mbv and slowdive heavy but they are much more like the american shoegaze scene: swirlies or drop nineteens ish
they do sound really unique I was just disappointed with how same-y a lot of the tracks sound, I expected some more variety
dude that cicada 3301 shirt is awesome. I love it!
thanks dude, got it from a Julie show this past year!
Album is broken op. I also cannot describe the impact this album has already had on me. What a miracle of a fucking album.
broken? and yeah no this album is already one of my favorites, a new essential listen
@@GojiraScorn haha op that's funny talking about music like its a dark souls build I like that
ohhhh yeah lol tbf I’ve beaten every souls, bloodborne, and elden ring multiple times lol
I think "Milk of Human Kindess" is more of a sister track to "shame" both can easily be read as ptsd from actions done out of blind patriotism
oh that’s a good point too, I think imma stick with the head canon only cause it makes I Don’t Care If I Burn a bit more poignant
The same thoughts I had about it, so looking forward to the SF show.
it’s gonna be sick
@@Tatihn I’ll see you in the pit ☺️
It's good but idk, I don't think it's as good as God's Country. I hugely disagree with your assessment post your expectations. This album actually felt way less intense to me, way less emotionally intense and in terms of like "artsy" the actual compositions feel way simpler on here, they kind of bored me a little. Like nothing even vaguely comes close to a grimace smoking weed on here. For an album with an obvious Harvey Milk reference, (imo the best sludge/doom band ever) I was really hoping that they were gonna get even more fucked up and weird and long winded with their songs compositionally. This is like, across the board, their most simple and accessible release imo. Not an offensive release but feels like a step backwards. That being said, Masc is song of the year for me. Outside of that I'll take New World, Shame, Tape, I Am Dog Now and really that's about it. I gotta dive deeper into the lyrics but from what I picked up, it doesn't feel nearly as intense lyrically either. Like come on, the last album had a song that literally started off with him screaming "open the fucking cash register before I shoot everybody in here" He sounds like an insane person on God's Country, he sounds like a vocalist in a band on this album
you’ve got some fair points, this album definitely feels less intense on the outset but I think it’s because the subject matter has been a lot more honed in. Milk of human kindness is about the trauma of a horrific burning and it really comes through. I also think the accessibility of the instrumentation comes from two things: the honing of their writing and the influence of their touring, especially with all of the hardcore festivals they did. That said I can see your point and why it would be less a draw given the kinda smoother sound, but I think it’s a nice turn and helps Raygun’s performance come through
I personally think that this was a good direction to go in. I think that gods country is a masterpiece, and the intense microscopic depictions of various horrors was really distilled into it's purest form. So to go in a different direction and have songs with a wider scope is a good idea. I think trying to top songs like Grimace would be too forced, as the concept of the song (having a disassociation episode in a song) can only work once. I can see where you're coming from though.
I think the entire album is more of a horror movie than and you're following a character who is the cult leader and a murderer in a small town
it definitely has a through line but I think so of the songs like masc and new world are more singular experiences, most the tracks definitely follow one plot line though
GOD I love this new album. The minor chords are absolutely disgusting, I’m pretty sure they are playing some illegal notes.
it’s so good, and the chord progressions have gotten so good especially along with the bass lines
Yeah they use discordant melodies on the guitar that are so noisey and then you have the drums and bass just smashing down an absolute knuckledragging groove, it really is the sauce that makes this band stand out from so many others.
Freakin' awesome comment!
Yeah the riffs in frownland @2:20 sound super illegal it's beautiful
I heard them say there's some shit about Gaza in here and I think that shame and camcorder might be it but idk. Anyway thanks for reviewing this amazing album, chatpile needs so much more love than they get ❤ edit: also you literally get dragged out into this world kicking and screaming on day one
oh shit yeah that’d make a lot of sense for shame, a little less for camcorder only cause that feels indicative of American policing, and you’re right about new world that’s a good one!
@@Tatihn I believe you on that one gotta check out camcorder again with that in mind. This album is just so good I keep getting these unhinged lines stuck in my head!
it just reminded me a lot of crawl space but I could’ve been wrong, the lyrics are just as deranged as I expected!
AOTY at this point. By the way one thing some listeners may have not picked up on. The Korn vibes coursing through Cool World especially Camcorder.
oh for sure, it definitely feels like they got some nu metal influence on here
love the shades of yellow and pink on ur nails
the track 8 comment is so real tripped me tf out
right like why did y’all do that
hello
hola!
can you do a comparison video on space for snow and yea i think by cr1tter
do you smoke herbs
I have a Rick and Morty bong
one a week would go crazy
Imma try my best!!
how’d u rank his discog
Under JPEG from worst to best: black ben carson, ep1 & 2, AMHAC, LP!, Scaring The Hoes, Veteran, ILDMLFY. Veteran was my first Peggy listen and to this day I can recite almost the whole thing, but ILDMLFY is such a unique and beautiful album that I think it’ll stay number one for a long time (tho veteran might come back to first)
Including hendryx and joechillworld would be too Herculean of a task even for me
I lay down my life for you too homie
awww thank you!!
THE THUMBNAIL 😭😭 true but also im gay ssoo
it’s a universal vibe!
I think your noise prediction is spot on. I’m really glad to see noise getting more love as of lately
thank you, I think it’s gonna be so much more prevalent soon, new slipknot intro is just a 5 minute drone track
Well what I plan to do at some point is have AI creat list of questions, feel it out and use it to train AI model with it to make copy of my personality, it’s not exactly copy of my mind but is as close we gone get with current technology
that would be the next closest thing, though it would be devoid of your innate personality and memories, I’d be interested in the questionnaire and what’s on it!
Converge and Immolation, represent.
I feel the album was fine but not their best. 2 of the bands shortest tracks ever make it feel like it’s only 8 songs and already heard the 3 singles so felt like I got 5 new tracks. Good take on the lack of mosh, I didn’t get any breakdowns that blew me away like on the first 2 LPs. I don’t feel like there are enough songs on it that would make me go back to this record in particular.
yeah it definitely felt like by the time it dropped there wasn’t a lot of meat to it, and thank you I thought it was a niche point to make but one worth making for a hardcore album, I like it for a bit of background noise, might put it on my playlist but that’s about the strongest feelings I have on it
personally i absolutely loved it, it’s probably aoty for me so far, and knocked loose is one of my absolute favorite bands, but i totally see where you’re coming from with a lot of your points, very good video. also don’t feel like you need to prove yourself or your “hxc credibility” lol, even if you were a tiktok fan, or someone who wasn’t really into hardcore, your opinion would be just as valid regardless, everybody has a different taste in music and nobody gets to tell you that yours is wrong
thank you, I’m really glad you liked it as I still think it’s a good listen! as for the credibility part, there’s a guy in here that said I was “giving poser” despite everything in the video, and honestly it happens a good amount on every video. People have a hard time believing I’ll listen to X thing and think less of it so I must be a poser, and I really was just trying to say “I listen to hardcore and know what it sounds like,” but I still really appreciate that, i definitely don’t wanna feel like I have to lol
Kentucky!
from Kentucky to the bay!
Yeah this album was positively not for me. And I love old KL like that pop culture era. To me this album sounds like if Frontierer just wrote breakdowns and that’s all
Which is really funny cause I actually kind of like fronterier, oxidized is a blistering listen, but they definitely aren’t riff material, that gave me a good laugh so thank you!
@@Tatihn oh no I must’ve worded that wrong, I actually love frontierer but part of why is because of how off the wall and insane their music is. To me this albums like the volume of that band, just minus any of the creativity so it’s kind of a headache
oh gotcha I agree still, they weren’t nearly as creative or off the walls, which is definitely why the riffs felt that way lol
You reek poser energy. Im sorry, hxc is about unity in the scene than serving up expectations for wannab music crtics online.
Actually cause I really do wanna dissuade this. I got one of the guys in mindforce to record a lil video just saying hi for a friend of mine who couldn’t make the show, got him a shirt too cuz he was supposed to come but had a work meeting that he literally couldn’t get out of. One of my favorite homies and he got me into them and the hardcore scene. I work doors for my friends who host when they’re short bodied and even do a lil security to make sure everyone’s done doors and paid. I’ve got a lot of homies in bands that are popping off out here and I try and do what I can for them whether it’s merch or just showing up. I’m sorry if it came off poser like, but that’s just how I talk about music, in a more analytical way. I think KL is all about community too, I just think this strayed from the sound I wanted for a hxc album. If you’re really interested in my hxc viability then go check my gram, it’s linked somewhere on my page. Real bay shit for life tho
As a dude who came up in the 90’s Midwest scene, and hasn’t really kept up with much of the newer stuff (my taste in music stops around 2003), but is a big KL fan and really enjoyed the new album, though admittedly it took a good handful of spins to sink in and I definitely think the singles oversold it…I just wanted to say 1) I agree with many of your points, and more importantly 2)Thank You for turning me onto Mindforce. I’m loving their stuff.
Thank you dude it’s an honor to turn an “old head” onto Mindforce, I saw them last month and it was a crazy show. As for the album, i definitely think this one is a grower but just misses a few things that really would’ve made it feel as unique as a lot of people say it is
I liked your take! It makes sense to me. PERSONALLY, this was my favorite album by them, because I feel like it had the most polish, and had the most emotion. Now, hardcore isn't my FAVORITE genre, I love it, but I do personally won't more from music, or I should say different things. I love metalcore, and this sounded more like a metalcore album with hardcore roots to me. That's why I loved it, but yeah if you really love hardcore, I can definitely see why you wouldn't prefer it. Great review!
thank you, this was something I meant to say in the video but this is definitely a metalcore project in regards to song writing and structure, they’re still hardcore deep down but they took a lil break and isn’t for me, I’m glad you liked it tho it still bangs!
@@Tatihn It DOES seem like the album wasn't QUITE the leap forward I think it was supposed to be, or maybe what most people thought it would be at least. I'm checking out some of the other bands you mentioned now 🤘
that’s what I’m saying, it was just shy of doing something truly new. And if you’re gonna check out bands I have recommend Coagulated Bliss by Full of Hell if you liked the heaviness of the album, and Mindforce’ Excalibur and New Lords if you want more hardcore
love KL but I agree this is very much a 7/10 LP, nothing groundbreaking, nothing new its just more of the same
yeah exactly, and there’s nothing wrong with that but the hype has been a bit misleading
Litterally clicked on this being like oh maybe he’s just not into that music. Saw the mindforce shirt and was like ah ok yeah his opinion is valid haha.
thank you!! Over the past year I’ve maintained a steady hardcore show a week and know a few bands and have tried to start my own few so I feel like I got a good grasp of what I’m saying, definitely not a TikTok fan 💀
Insanely overhyped album. And I’m actually a fan of Knocked Loose.
I would say I am too, I really liked a tear in the fabric of reality and the two singles before the album, and I don’t hate this album, but it’s nowhere near a 9 like I’ve seen most people give it
I think the singles are what got people in, and then no track REALLY lived up to the singles, at least in the same ways. I absolutely love the singles, and "The calm that keeps you awake" and "Sit & mourn" but it was shorter than I thought it would be, I wanted 13 tracks haha
Its got the Fantano stamp of approval 😂 so unfortunately everyone is legally required to dickride
@@sherman614 completely agree. I thought the singles were the tease and I get disappointed when there aren’t any other cuts on the LP that can top the singles. Sit And Mourn was the closest but wasn’t mind blowing like in the sense that I wanna keep playing it.
I loved it but I fw the drip
I’m glad you did, thank you!
i hate the way that u walk the way that talk i hate the way that u dress i hate the way that u sneak diss wen we fight its gon b direct

This album is incredible. Thanks for your thoughts and review!
of course! this was easily my favorite album of 2022 and I’m so excited for their new one this year
I really hope this is satire
what about it do you hope is satire?
Agreed. Just didn’t do it for me, compared to any of their previous work. Good stuff man!
thank you!
If u don’t listen to they just say that
to who? I said I don’t listen to yung lean but I’ve listened to the past 4 bladee projects and liked them all, this one just felt a lil empty
