Hello I want to start school in Jamaica and migrate to the Uk as well. Did you have to redo your studies there and how did you find a job ?

I don't see why not, but it wouldn't hurt to have some pharmacy technician experience in the meantime. Most states (I believe all except California and Oklahoma) allow for people without the certification to work under the supervision of a pharmacist in a retail setting. I have friends who work at CVS as a pharmacy tech fresh out of high school, no certification needed. I think the certification is for if you want to work in a hospital setting (which generally pays much more). Hope this helps

So there's a difference between being licensed and being certified. In some states, you have to have a license in order to fill any medication (which I believe are California and Oklahoma). Some states will let you start working with supervision. Certification is completely different. Your license is only good in the state you got it in. If you wanted to move states and continue being a pharmacy tech, you would need to be certified. This goes for every state. Without certification, your license isn't good in any state except the one you got it in. Tldr, licensing is state specific (and requirements vary from state to state) and certification is national (and is needed to carry your license over from one state to another) Most jobs provide opportunities to become licensed (if you don't have it already, but it usually depends on how in need they are. Recently, my boss was looking to hire someone and was specifically only looking for someone with a license because he didn't want to waste time training someone without it), and some even provide you with an opportunity to become certified. As far as becoming a tech goes, all you need to actually become licensed is to be 18, have a high school diploma, take a class that gives you hands on experience (through internship). I became a tech right out of high school. Where I live, I found an adult school that was focused on providing adults with all kinds of technical jobs, not just being a pharmacy tech, and they let me enroll even though when I started I was in high school and was only 17. The only reason they did this was because by the end of the class, I would be 18 and with my diploma. I graduated from high school and my pharmacy class a week apart from each other. I got my license about 2 months later, and started working at a pharmacy right away (mostly because of my internship. The pharmacist there asked me where I wanted to be working since she couldn't hire me (not enough hours) and when I told her, she told me she had a friend who had a pharmacy out there and that she would let him know about me. Two months later, just before I get my license, he reached out to me and hired me). Tldr; it is very much possible to become a tech right outside of high school, you just need to find the right place to teach you

You need to write the licence exam in Canada then you get the licence to practise.... You literally need canadian licence for any professional job in Canada except Tech
