    Moore’s best non-Bond films are “The Wild Geese” and “The Sea Wolves,” both made by the same team: producer Euan Lloyd, writer Reginald Rose, and director Andrew V McLaglen. Solidly written and well-acted. Let’s not forget the 1976 TV film, “Sherlock Holmes in New York,” starring Moore and Patrick Macnee. Moore’s own favourite was “The Man Who Haunted Himself.”

    I mainly know Franciscus from his work in Beneath the Planet of the Apes and the Valley of Gwangi, which led me to his TV show, Longstreet. As far as top 5 lists go, I would have to go with When Time Ran Out, Hell Boats, Marooned, Beneath POTA, and Gwangi. Gwangi is by far the best of them in terms of roles for Franciscus. It's truly a lead role, with his character driving the story forward. The main downside of the picture is that it borrows too heavily from the tropes of lost world stories, like King Kong (which borrowed heavily from The Lost World)...

    • @4kfellowship
      @4kfellowship 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Afraid not. This is all the information about the restoration in the booklet: Restored using the original 35mm Eastman color negative, optical track negative, and track positive print. 4K scanning: Silver Salt Restoration Limited, London Picture restoration: Cineric, Inc., New York Color grading: Daniel DeVincent, Cineric, Inc., New York So basically, it was scanned in the UK and restored in the US. There's a whole featurette about this on the disc, but I didn't mention it because I was still coming to terms with the 4K scan and they didn't acknowledge that anyone might have mixed feelings about it. By the way, the booklet can a couple of thoughtful, well-researched essays and some nice stills. I get the feeling I probably ought to do a second video that covers some of this stuff!
