Restoring a Piece of US Military History – Vietnam War Hamilton Watch
One of the staples of vintage military watches, the GG-W-113 is a truly iconic piece that continues to inspire modern watch design. Used throughout the Vietnam War by US military pilots, its history is as fascinating as it is complex. Manufactured by several companies over nearly two decades, and with a prolific counterfeit industry, collecting this model has become a challenging task.
In this episode, we’ll dive into the history and the nuances of this reference, while restoring this beautiful 1969 Hamilton example. Enjoy!

Restoring the Most Neglected Watch I’ve Ever Seen! 90+ Years Old Silver Zenith Pocket Watch
มุมมอง 31K9 หลายเดือนก่อน
It’s not every day that we get to open a door to the past and hold a relic from the 1930s, let alone repair it! Sadly, as wristwatch production began to overshadow that of pocket watches, these once-cherished timepieces ended up relegated to the backs of drawers and forgotten for decades… (until curious watch repairers rediscovered them!) Today I pick up a beautiful Zenith pocket watch, gifted ...

Restoration of a 70-Year-Old Abandoned Tissot Antimagnetique Watch
มุมมอง 94Kปีที่แล้ว
The Tissot Antimagnetique watches were the world’s first series of wristwatches with anti-magnetic capabilities (a major innovation at the time!) introduced by the Swiss manufacturer Tissot from the 1930s. These watches were specifically designed to withstand magnetic fields generated by the electric appliances that started populating every household during that time, such as telephones and rad...
I recently did a Benrus DTU, it's cool to see the similarities between the brands in the contract. Great video!
Stunning Omega Automatic Movement an Repair ⌚️👌
That s a beautiful and very cool watch. Great restoration! Thanks.
Beautiful watch and great restoration. Thanks so much!
New to your channel Thank you for the great video. I have a few of these ggw’s. Also have more of the 7jewel general purpose watches. One of which was mine while in the service in the early 80’s
BTW: what kind of material used to build this beautiful movement ( this one is not brass or standard metal typically used in other movements)
Great watchmaker. Do you have by chance a WebSite, pls?
Very impressive
Militado ML-07 if you want identical looks $60 and a couple of seconds a month accuracy. 😊
Thank you for sharing this excellent video on TH-cam: 👍👌👏! I am not into anything military, but this watch looks great and does not seem to have seen much combat, which is what we all long for.
Great job restoring that piece of history!
Good vid. I too have a July 1969 GG-W-113, but the female stem fractured and I can't seem to find a replacement. What tap size are you using (mm)? I also have a spare crown from a parts watch, though the stem is broken off inside and needs dissolving out. If only I knew you needed one!
Всё классно,но корпус по моему можно было отполировать,я так всегда делаю
Good work 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Great job. Looks fantastic! I'm finishing up restoring a 1977 version.
Thank you! These are awesome watches. Good luck with your restoration! 😁
Very enjoyable video and the watch looks magnificent.
Thank you very much Michael! 🙏🏻
i had a 1972 Hamilton GG-W-113 for a few years. i had it serviced and authenticated. it's the only watch i regret selling. it was so cool! oh, and the crown on mine was a replacement as well.
Very cool watches indeed! It’s not too late to get another one though, I see them on eBay quite often 😊
Wonderful restoration, this machine is beautiful ❤
Agree! Thank you for watching! 😊🙏🏻
I'd bought a Khaki 16 years ago right before retirement from TX dot & only had to have the battery changed 3 times. Upon that 3rd time, the changer informed me that the watch was no longer operative. So in order to avoid loosing an 'old friend to the wrist'; I visited a jeweler just down the way & was told the stem had failed due to rust. He said that he could match the stem, but for the crown he had none with the H logo on it. So for a 3rd of the price I'd paid for my 'OLD friend of the wrist ' he repaired it. I'd always felt a deep but appreciative remorse for not being engaged with the Nam ''Conflict''. But it was my choice to dodge the draft. With a lottery #52 I decided to choose a Unit that was for the most part; coming back from active duty in Nam. So here's to Them & every U.S. Soldier who'd ever served... My uncle is sending me a 1907 Waltham pw to see if I can get running, so I'm checking all my watchmaking creators for pw vids. About to dive into this one!
great work, great narration and details about technical stuff and history elements. congrats!!! subscribed
If I may ask how much do the restorations like these costs?
Nice watch!
Too much talking !!! Give it a rest !
I´m just amazed of how much technlogy goes in to a watch
I would like to know where you found those black sticks from so I can replace the ones I lost. I used them in electronics repair my whole career but now I can’t find them at home.😊
great job. thanks for not polishing the case. because it will ruin the personality of the watch.
Where did it go? Here it is =))))
