INDIAN SCOUT 1923 start up
มุมมอง 2.6K10 ปีที่แล้ว
The Indian was started after a little bit of TLC after an almost 10 year hibernation in the museum. At first it burnt some oil and the idle was high...now it purrs like a ¸1923 Scout is supposed to!

ALPE ADRIA on Grobnik - Matchless G50 vs Aermacchi Ala d'Oro 450
มุมมอง 9K13 ปีที่แล้ว
The second race witnessed a memorable battle between my Matchless G50 and a 450 Aermacchi Ala d'Oro. After some close overtaking manoeuvres I managed to pass the lightweight Aermacchi on the finish line for 0,22 seconds.
Matchless G50
มุมมอง 6K13 ปีที่แล้ว
he Matchless G50 was a British motorcycle made by Associated Motorcycles at the former Matchless works in Plumstead, London. Developed in 1958 from the 350cc AJS 7R, with the engine capacity increased to 500 cc, 180 G50s (for 50 bhp) were built in the next four years. Although less powerful than its main competitor the Norton Manx the G50 proved highly competitive at three hundred pounds and wa...

I race one with an ,original, seeley frame. No CSY 304. also a 500. th-cam.com/video/9xANmy3kcjo/w-d-xo.html
Great podcast. Thank you very much, a very special machine.
I have the same bike 1937,I note he never used the de-compression lever after starting
Hi. I never used it since its not neccesary. This Rudge is a spectacular machine. Congrats on yours!
How fast does this bikes go?
It goes about 170km/h. Not a small thing for a 250cc pre war machine!
what is the price for one in reasonable condition?
Its a rare piece but also very particular so it depends on the buyer/seller. But they can go for up to 80k if they are restored to a high standard or well preserved (i know of only one in original preserved state)
Hello … I want to buy one… where can I buy this … can u help me
Needs work-sounds terrible! Sundquist Norton -search you tube.
Mine is a racing bike. For track use only. Its been calculated, designed and made by hand to get the power where it needs to be. Its almost fully opened. Those exhaust are for street use if I see it well...
@@MotoMUSEUMthought you were trying to break it reving it like that when it's free running. I've been around weslakes all my life and that's a big no no
@@mrlittlemouse1 my frind... I put this bike together myself in every detail. manufactured half of it and modded the engine heavily since as it comes from the crate is total crap. Raced it in the EU championship and got 3rd place overall... thank you for your concern ;)
@@MotoMUSEUM well you would know not to rev it like that free standing as all you do is take the edge off the rings. If that's a winner the competition must be poor. Who made the frame.
@@mrlittlemouse1 I made the frame- brazed Reynolds. I made the tank. Modded the gearbox. I made the front fontana from magnesium and much more. And no... my engine can rev much higher... Well on Donigton with 40 on the grid I came 7th... It was a bad day for me ;) On this 500 I now have 76 HP - reliable. I think it my Seeley is just fine :)
A guy I knew had one of these - it beat a dommie 88 easy
Rudge were the first to introduce left and gear change on a motorcycle. It was because performing a U-turn on a British road is easier if the motorcycle has the foot gear lever on the left. Rudge also manufactured the world's first "Ton Up" 250cc road motorcycle in 1938, NOT Suzuki in the late 1960's. Very distinctive sound to a Rudge. I've a friend who's collected and raced them (grass track) all his life. I've even had a ride on his 1929 Ulster back in the late 80's. Very memorable experience.
yo man i saw one of your comments about mobile mining electroneum, can i email you or something about that? i have an old phone i want to do it on but have no idea where to start
Sump full of oil! Hence all the smoke.
Err? why did he change gear with his left foot?
Alan Thomas Hi Alan. I changed with left foot because it has the gearchange there originally... some of them had it on the right side.
Cream of the crop.
With all due respect, tighter apex's would have given better times. Also put some bitumen in those track cracks.
I have one
I used to race a short stroke 500cc Triton. It was very nasty - used to give me a lot of anxiety. It was a 650cc motor fitted with a 63mm stroke billet crank - just bloody dangerous.
500cc ?
Yes! The best once you fix all the flaws!
MotoMUSEUM You must realise that as far as development of four stroke single cylinder bikes are concerned, the seeley G50 was almost the ultimate and cheaper than a manx to build and race. With any race bike, bits keep falling off it until it has been raced for a while. I'd love to own it. I have a Mk3 Seeley 850 commando. It is excellent.
You seemed to have motor on the Aermacchi Gold Wing even though you never exceeded 7000 rpm. Enjoyable to watch, although the cracks in the track's surface must have been a little concerning for you.
No4 is defo Jack Horseman. He was my uncle and i'm sure we have that photo at my mums. How do you know him?
I dug out the box of photo's and sure enough.. it is jackie Horseman, tho' I don't know where it was taken.? He only had the bike for 1960- 1961 and then.. WF
great bike. I have 2 ulsters!
+Alan Thomas You have 2! Rich old guys taking all the classic bikes! It took me 10 years to get one!!!
Ha! just sold my '39 for £18000!
Bastard.
I'm sure that's the late Jack Horseman at 0:05. Hmmmmm WF
It might have helped your cause if you had got the engine off the pilot jet a bit more often, still; the other rider must have been riding equally ' prudently'!
@scintill8or Unfortunately the bike was running on one cylinder most of the time, so it was better to "hide" the unhealthy sound ;)
Wish I could hear the bike instead of the music track :(
@MotoMUSEUM You mean you crank that machine to those angles on 1937 tyres!!? I'm speechless from admiration. Now, some years back, in the Isle of Man, an ex-works DKW with opposed pistons totally different from previous factory designs was run static in the Paddock area. Pictures appeared in the British bike press. I can't find any acknowledgement of this machine's existence online. Do you have any information on it?
@tc19948 Hi, our machines are all original. Yes. We have to use modern fuels and oils and plugs. On this particular motorcycle the tyres are the original Rennrifen AVON from 1937!! Shifting with the cutout is a little too hard for these historical motorcycles today, so normal clutch and shift is used instead.
How do you get these running so sweetly? I expect modern plugs and oils, allied to meticulous preparation, help somewhat. Do you use an ignition cutout to change up, as was apparently done in the 20s and 30s?
Thank you so much for all your videos, particularly for keeping them free from intrusive music. A racing DKW is a symphony in itself.
Love this and your other videos, thanks so much for keeping them music-free. These engines are their own music. What's happened to Part 1?
Hehehe! :) This weather was actually good. on the top of the mountain pass it started to snow heavily and My bike was brought back to the valley by a snow plow... It was an incredible experience!
Hi, Thank you for your very kind observations... The fact is that we really try to be gentle with our original machines. It's a different story with the Matchless G50 replica... :) That one is getting ridden hard! I invite you to follow up more videos that will come in the future. A new museum homepage will be ready also in 2012.
Look at that weather! You guys have got balls! Sweet-running bike.
Thank you so very much for all the footage you have posted. It's enough of an honour and privilege to see and hear one of these from afar, but this is such stuff as dreams are made on. Impeccable cornering lines, by the way. This is how these bikes SHOULD be ridden!
@shanemw2011 Hi, It was a crazy race... The guy kept cutting my corners and the result was a broken red Aermacchi. But I loved the adrenalin.
great video really good race
The Location is Schottenring - with two "T".. :)
Hi, Sorry. My mistake... Damage repaired :)
This is not the Lamborghini of Leipert Motorsport! - It's the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560 of the NK Racing Team
@goinghomesomeday1 Hi. No, the one you have in mind was a 350 from 1939. The one that won the IOM Grand Prix... But I can guarantee you that this one is not a mute either ;)
@avril2 Hi avril2, I know what you mean... but it is quite hard to find a compromise between real racing and still preserving the bike. I have no intention to crash it. Then there is the setup... at the time the bike was not at "its best"... racing against 60+HP bikes with at 43 HP single cylinder is quite hard. They are just to fast on the straits for me to catch them.
Hi, :) Glad you liked it... I was taking it easy. It would be a pitty to break a bike like the SS 250. It was all for show...
I just heard about the engine in this bike from a friend. What an interesting design...
hehe, liked that part around 1.00 when you finally left that other bike in the dust :)
I'm glad you like it! I will be posting the next video from the next race in Shleiz in about a month... I'll also try to take a video of the bike ON while standing still.
Yes the MATCHLESS G50 is a 500cc SOHC engine... a very, very fast machine. A real pleasure to race with...
hi. It is a quife (five speeder). I would need a six speed for better performance...
I love the sound of this engine. Especially at 6500rpm.
génial !!!! bravo !!!!!!
good drive....BTW it's not Rieka it is Rijeka
