Minecraft Realistic Render Experiment - HD24
A Blender experiment where all textures and models are completely revamped. Rendered in approximately 7.5 hours in Blender Cycles on an AMD RX 6600. Sound design in Davinci Resolve.

Delighting in VFX is Awesome

I recently learned about an awesome VFX technique called "Delighting". Without getting into too much technical mumbo jumbo, it effectives divides the footage texture by the lighting of your Blender scene to get an unlit texture of everything, which allows for emissive materials to cast light onto the footage. I love it way too much.

This project was a fun little day project I did today, will some messing around in Geometry Nodes and messing with lights. Sorry for the bad audio, never bothered changing it... Made this a couple of days ago but never posted it. I changed the lens flare so it's less in your face. Also, since I had to manually track the blade, it should be much better. Couldn't figure out the motion persistence though so some frames have the original blade visible.

I finally got some sort of orchestral inspiration so I wrote this. Gives me heavy "You are the chosen one, complete the mission without me" vibes or something cliche like that.

The tracker for the tip failed, so that's cool...... The glow needs to be feathered more as well, just so it looks better. I will say though, I'm loving the lens flares a lot :)

Thanks! TH-cam compressed the audio so it's quieter than I would've liked, as well as the song being hyper-repetitive, but I still like it, and I'm glad you do to!
0:58 that's because your pc was trash. on low graphics quality (voxel/shadowmap graphics, in this case its voxel) for Roblox, the lighting calculations are done on the CPU. so, if you activate new point lights (going into a room), some lights may take some time to load in. in my experience, this is especially bad when using something like a flashlight, because entire chunks may take a few seconds to load the lighting resulting in dark spots where lights just do not work. when you walk into a new room and it's dark for a moment, that is because the CPU is loading in the lights. i know that i'm over a year late to this but it's still interesting information.

I guess the sidechain wasn't obvious enough then haha. I have everything side chained to the kick but obviously I couldn't get it audible. I do need to learn EQ though, I haven't bothered learning it in Reaper yet.

Btw the trash can is not a trash can in the og photo. its a bucket. also dont use kane textures, just use solid textures with a noise texture and bump and set it to a low amount so it doesn't look weird. and i'd recommend adding lens dust and removing the cromatic effect. or lowering the intensity, and maybe remove the fisheye. (dont take this as a dislike from the video, im just giving tips)
