Had a while distracted, but on I go to season 2 after rewatching from the (re-uploaded) S01E04 (episodes 5 and 6 made much more sense with that context.) Very much enjoying it and sad to see that hailing frequencies seems to have crashed uploads circa ~3 months ago.

I do have the original comics (well, the American Reprint at least) and I just took a look. The sign on the outside of the Tardis in them is Black with white writing. That being said, the promo images for Ncuti show the same plaque. I wonder if they were just inspired by that design while adapting the story and decided to run with it?

I'm not ready for Trek to be on hiatus for so long. I was really hoping Netflix would have put Prodigy on long before Christmas so I could at least take solace in watching that season again!

I'm surprised to see the "Twovix" episode make it so high. I sort of though the general feeling was that this episode was towards the bottom of the season. It gains 1 point for me for actually remembering the Orchid! Haha

I liked the inclusion of Wes quite a bit, I just thought his performance seemed different than the Wes we saw back in TNG. I have actually come around a bit since. Someone mentioned that this is the first time we ever really got to see him being "himself" around friends and not under the eye of parents or the Enterprise crew etc. When we saw him hanging out with them in "The First Duty" it was only after Joshua died so he wouldn't be the same guy at that point.

Fantastic analysis as usual! While I agree it may not be fair to compare this to the old show, they kind of brought it on themselves by making it a continuation and giving it the same name. Had they called it something other than "Frasier" it might be looked at a bit more for its own merits. Just a thought. I really enjoyed both episodes. "Blind Date" very much did feel like the stories of old, and Freddy's Birthday kind of went in a direction the original didn't very often...outside of a few occasions. It feels like every episode is an improvement as everyone grows into their characters. Luckily Frasier and Alan were pretty much fully formed right out of the gate.

I thought Blind Date had clunky writing. Moments that didn't quite make sense or gel, but Frasier and Freddy felt more natural with each other. Episode 7 was a joy. I know you're not quite there yet, but Episode 8 actually makes you enjoy David as his own character instead of Niles Jr.

Eagerly awaiting discussions for Episodes 6 and 7! Decent joyous and only a sprinkling of jejune!

Great analysis. Ohh. Bulldog would be a nice guest. Especially since they mentioned him in the premiere as singing at Martin's funeral, so we know they are still in touch. He could be coming to town for any of the famous Boston sports. If I were picking someone, I would say Bebe Glazer as his agent again trying to convince him to come back to his TV career or something. How would you feel about them bringing an adult Alice into the show? Maybe not as a regular, but as a guest we know but in a new format, much like Freddy. I'll also throw this out for no reason other than to say "CAM WINSTON!"

I think I will take this review episode by episode and comment as such. But first my character impressions. Frasier himself was enough of a welcome anchor to keep me glued to the show. Alan is obviously the stand-out of the new guard here (and also had 1 or 2 moments that really felt like Martin moments...but more of that in future episodes). I also liked Freddy for the most part. Olivia is just kind of there. I think I like Eve, but she has moments of being too much. Hopefully she can settle in. David is the one who worries me the most. I want to like him. I like the idea that he is supposed to be Daphne and Niles in one package, but so far he's not doing it for me. The first episode airport scene almost scared me as well, but it slipped into gear fairly quickly. The Martin stuff was obviously the highlight. The story was okay, if not all that ground-breaking. Unlike the transition from Cheers to Frasier, this transition keeps the same general mood/vibe while still adding enough change. A lot of that probably has to do with the intro and transition cards. Definitely enough to keep me hooked and optimistic for the future of the new show. Sorry that was so long. I think you may have just convinced me to do a video on this myself! haha

Hope this doesn't count as spoilers too much. As far as T'lyn goes, Mike stated at NYCC that she will be heavily featured in season 5.... so I think she's safe

Great observations as usual. The stardate thing is a bit odd. Normally Lower Decks pays attention to all the Trek details to a fault. I was almost hoping you were going to say they were only wrong AFTER the episode where Boimler "Died" or something intriguing like that. I'm sure this means absolutely nothing, but Caves backwards is "Sevac" and that's a very Star Trek/Vulcan sounding name.

I'm glad to see how much you guys liked this episode. I think it's a testament to how much Lower Decks has evolved that I was somewhat underwhelmed by it. Had this episode been in season 1, it would probably have been my favorite. I'm in the camp of feeling like I have definitely seen this mystery ship (Or at least something along the same design path) somewhere...I just can't place it.

The last 2 episodes finally felt like they were getting into the spirit of actually celebrating not only TAS but Trek as a whole. Definitely nice getting more Takei. Why not give the man a full Short Trek, or even animated mini-series on the Excelsior. Thanks for the mention!

Best by a country mile but still a giant pile of wasted potential. This could very well be the last appearance of Takei. Speaking of which, it would have been nice to see his part on either tmp Era or the maroon movie Era uniforms. Not that it really matters
