Even more so today given the Doomsday Clock has edged closer to midnight according to the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, body that monitors the threat level. It is set at 90 seconds to midnight in 2024. The Cold War was terrible and the danger real and ever present but MAD probably held truths in that no-one was likely to be insane enough to deliberately use nuclear weapons. The guardrails that prevailed then cannot be guaranteed today with the madmen in power in a number of countries. I am on the left and would not normally defend Reagan but the massive increase in defence spending in the early 1980s did persuade the Russians, especially Gorbachev, that the Cold War was unwinnable because the military spending required to keep up with or outpace the USA was unsustainable. The left decried this at the time, understandably, but in retrospect US policy forced the Soviets to the negotiating table.

A track with such a positive message, yet have such dark and warning lyrics that are just as relevant today as they were in the 80s during the height of the cold war.

Its is latest tour its called the 1984 tour , the shows split into 2 halfs , the 1st half he did the riddle album and the 2nd he did the human racing album
