    Greeting from South Africa. Love your accent! In hard starts i just take out cartridge and dip tip into cartridge opening few seconds. Or dip nib in water few second wipe and good to go. Works every time. Cartridges are sometimes too hard to press. Fpens are so expensive here due to $/R exchange. Regards

    Hi! Great content! I am visually impaired (not blind). I must hunch over the paper to write. Anything I can do to heel less tension and improve my writing?

    I want to get a fountain pen but i hear it writes wetter than normal ballpoint/gel pen which means it easily can be smear or worst, bleed through the paper which is a huge no for me.

    This helped but I had to pressure the nib while I squeezed the cartridge on a Monteverde Impreza.

    Appearantly, non stick cooking spray fixes uneven inkflow. (If ink only flows out, if you press hard on the paper. and soaking it in water does not fix it). I'll experiment some more with this.

    First time user. I have a 2 dollar pen with a converter. Similar to the squeeze method, I twisted the converter. Some bubble formed and it refused to move ink.

    Use an ultrasonic cleaner. They are cheap, convenient to use and you can use them for all kinds of other stuff. 3 minutes later your pen will be as good as new. Glad to help.

    If you have a bottle of ink just dip the whole nib into the ink and wipe it off on the edge of the bottle. You may have to repeat depending on how dry it was. I am not a fan of the squeeze or push out ink with the converter. I used to just dip in water to wet the nib but it writes less opaquely for a while as the water works it's way out.

    I look for older Papermate 1.0 ball point pens. They're gray, not black. Harder to find now. Some may not write, even though new in packs. Easy fix. I drop them into a hot cup of my coffee. I wait maybe 20 seconds. That's it. Why do I like these pens? Because you can draw light as a feather with them, or go solid black. Extremely useful for drawing.

    Hands down the most helpful video I have watched in my efforts to improve my handwriting. While the letters I naturally make are almost the diametric opposite of the elegant cursive script I desperately wanted to adopt, they create absolutely no stress and feel completely natural. For the first time since I learned to write almost 50 years ago, I feel like my handwriting is (a) reliable (b) more consistent and (c) much more 'me', which is really what matters. Thank you!

    Interesting. When I was taught to handwrite everyone did this grip with the first 2 fingers round the front of the pen and the thumb at the back, yet someone else said that's only the case for ballpoint pens, but to hold a fountain pen they had the pen between the thumb and first finger.

  • @harmonyln7
    @harmonyln7 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I got a parker vector xl yesterday. So far I find it a nice pen, but going between that and an older narrower nib someone also gave me. Don't know what the older pen is because apparently the writing is too small to read without a magnifying glass. Either way, I like the older pen for its weight and the nib itself is interchangeable. Maybe I should film myself writing with each and see which people think looks better. Being almost blind I can't see my own writing, but it's still fun. Probably sounds totally weird.

    Okay, back again. My Lamy is drying out after writing a paragraph or two. Figuring the cartridges might be dried out since I've had them a few years, ordered brand new Lamy ink and after soaking the feed in a bit of soapy water for over 24 hrs, same problem....What the heck? I cannot disconnect it from the plastic piece but it's been soaked over and over. Would you have any ideas why this keeps happening? Even with brand new ink. Thank you in advance.

    Next time you want to show a feed quickly, try taking apart your LAMY (Safari or Alstar). The Feed comes out the front very easily. It often happens to me unintentionally, when I just want to change the nib...

    I have recently subbed to your channel. I find your approach to handwriting interesting and inspiring. This video was kind of an eyeopener to me, and helped me to continue my fountain pen journey. I have experience in journalism and have mainly been writing on my computer. Now i tend to write more with fountain pens. This is a far better way to approach the text, and more fun too.

    Ignore him when it says it doesn't matter how you hold you pen - of course it does. Your grip should be light and gentle - just try a cramp position or with your index finger pressing down hard and having a 3 hour language exam, your hand will need serious medical help. You should control your pen fully and this can't be done with any closed grip either. There is a right and wrong way and the right way is 100% best. This guy holds his pen perfectly and this is what people should try and copy and I think he called it 'Dynamic Tripod'.

    I can think of another reason to use fountain pens,, for the "save the planet" category: they can be used instead of highlighter pens for people who stubbornly (and wrongly!) persist to use ball points. Here is how: all highlighter pens use water-based ink, so that they will not smudge the oil-based ink they are highlighting. All fountain pen inks are water-based, so all we have to do is pick one that is bright and probably yellow, like the Firefly ink produced by Noodler's. Then one needs a proper writing instrument, as it would be tiresome to use a regular fine nib fountain pen to draw over text to highlight. You can use Pilot Parallel, they come in a variety of width, I chose the 3.8 mm, it works well, but another option would be the 'Monster Arabic Nib" made by Bobby Nib (sold on eBay), both choices about the same price.
